Sold a vintage cookie jar in the shape of a kitten for $30; a Japanese style tea set for $30 and a vintage beer stein with a hinged lid for $12. All were the same price as listed on eBay, but I didn’t have to pay any fees.
FYI folks: After sending me four messages asking whether anybody smokes in my house or how the item was stored (any mildew?) and asking for length and width dimensions and the message asking to lower the shipping cost (I kindly offering to send an invoice with a reduced shipping cost) the buyer decided they didn’t want it after all. That’s eBay.
Not sure. I just got into managed payments on Thursday and I’ve sold 2 items under managed payments, both today, but I didn’t get any similar message with the other sale.
It was actually a note included with that item on my list of sold items. I’ll contact eBay chat. I just got activated for managed payments, so maybe it has something to do with that.

I had a similar problem not being able to find handling time. Go to Sell, then Business Policies and look for “Shipping” under “Type” in the chart. On the right, click the number and view all items, Choose the ones you want to change and in Edit Fields, click on shipping policy. Click on Change To in the shipping policy drop down and then you can edit the policy in there. Very cumbersome, but that’s where eBay folks sent me, and it works.
I know the sizes are limited, but I wanted to make sure you realize you can get boxes for free from USPS. I apologize if I’m telling you something you already know, but you can set up a free USPS account on their website and have them delivered for free. Otherwise, I just reuse boxes we get when we order stuff online. Also, you often can just go to a store that sells the type of thing you need to ship and they have boxes that match up pretty well. For example, I had to ship a bike frame and the local bike shop has a whole room full of boxes their inventory came in that they are happy to give away. As for turning boxes inside out before you reuse them, that’s not necessary. The carriers don’t care what is on the box as long as they can scan the label.
I’m always going through listings tweaking them in some way. I don’t know if it actually makes a difference, but as much as I want to list it and forget it, I can’t help myself. In some cases, when an item gets a few watchers I will actually increase the price slightly, or decrease it for a while and, if it doesn’t sell after a week or 2, increase it again, sort of signalling to buyers: “If you want this item you better buy it now before it goes up in price.” Sometimes I change settings to accept offers or not, or change the price I automatically accept. Who knows if that’s what they’re thinking, but I have fun doing that. Luckily, I don’t depend on eBay for a living, so it’s more of a hobby/entertainment to me and the goal of the game is to turn up the volume on my phone real loud so that when there’s a KA-CHING! everybody hears it and they ask “What sold?” April has been my best month still I started in November. I have a premium store and can’t really maintain an inventory above about 790 items. Every time I list more, I sell more. I sell a lot of $10-$30 items, but it adds up.

Just to wrap things up I thought I’d let folks know the “buyer” who made a $39.90 counter offer for my item (camera lens) sent me a message saying: “I didn’t bid on this as I’m selling one of my own,” which is strange because I wasn’t running an auction, plus, how would I get a counter offer if he didn’t sent it? A few minutes later, he sent a message saying: “I have no desire to own this lens. I’m sorry please cancel this order.” Of course, I simply cancelled the order without responding and the item was automatically relisted. Oh well, back to work.I can’t seem to find anything on eBay where I can see any history of offers from buyers, except for unsold items and stuff I purchased, or made offers on.
Try listing a few new items or revising some existing listings, or jump up and down three times and sing the National Anthem. I know it makes no sense, but eBay doesn’t either.
Doesn’t it seem kind of weird there doesn’t seem to be any thermal label printer that can do USPS and FedEx for eBay sellers without issue?
