I’m thinking of buying a Zebra LP 2844 thermal label printer but I’ve heard that printing FedEx shipping labels on it is a pain because it requires opening the label in Acrobat Reader, using the snipping tool to crop the image and then printing it. I’ve also heard you can just get a FedEx account and still get the eBay discount and use the FedEx software to print more directly. Can anybody tell me how much of a pain it really is to use the LP 2844 to print FedEx labels for eBay sales? I’m thinking that once I get it I’ll get used to it and maybe they will eventually fix the annoying workarounds. Or maybe it’s not even worth the $150 and I should just continue to print them on half a sheet of paper on my inkjet printer and continue putting tape over the bar code to prevent smudges.

I don’t know anything about the Zebra. I have a Dymo LabelWriter 4XL, and I can print FedEx labels on it. Half a line on the top gets cut off, but it doesn’t cut anything important that messes up delivery.
The only time I’ve had to print to a PDF and then print with Acrobat is a direct international label with the customs form. Enough information gets cut off that I have to print it outside of eBay. I don’t know why there isn’t a method to just center the whole thing.

Sharyn: So you can print FedEx labels on the DYMO 4XL just like you print USPS labels, without any added steps?

Sorry, I am subscribed to this thread, but, for some reason, I didn’t get an email that there were new responses.
Yes, I print out FedEx labels from eBay the same way I do USPS labels.

i just bought a Rollo label printer https://amzn.to/39bDjB4 to use 4×6 labels. my current printer is only 2×7 and won’t print FedEx only USPS, which is ok, but i thought i’d just bite the bullet and get the Rollo. people are raving about it. setting it up tonight.

Ryanne, thinking of pulling the trigger on a rollo also (will use your affliate link if I do!) How have you been liking it for the last 3-4 months? Any problems or issues?

Doesn’t it seem kind of weird there doesn’t seem to be any thermal label printer that can do USPS and FedEx for eBay sellers without issue?

I bought an older, used Dymo off eBay. Maybe the newer models work better. Perhaps Ryanne can give us a report on her new Rollo after she uses it for both USPS and FedEx.

Ebay changed Fedex labels about 6 months ago so that they now print in the same size/format as USPS. I print them straight to my Dymo XL. International labels still require the extra download / snapshot in Acrobat steps.

I have a Rollo and can confirm direct functionality in 4×6 for both USPS and FedEx eBay labels. Like Simon, I also find international requires the extra steps.

Maybe eBay changed something specifically for FedEx but I think I still have to crop mine if they come from outside of eBay.

I love my Rollo! I bought mine in August and haven’t had any issues printing labels for FedEx, USPS, or UPS. The labels are so cheap that I also made a few custom labels to print for packages with fragile glass or bendable items (for buyer peace of mind) or the labeling required to ship certain items (batteries).
It was a very eye-opening experience to see what a time(and tape!)-saver it is compared to when I first started out and was inkjet printing, cutting, taping labels using regular paper. Money well-spent to save 10-15+ minutes every day.
