You had me at fake poop…..ha ha ha!!!! That’s crazy fun. Okay, enough poopie talk! Though I bet your kids find it hilarious as well. Thanks for taking the time to post and introduce yourself. It sounds like we have much to learn from you. I’m very interested in learning more about your listing process, as I’m sure others are as well. If you feel like sharing any of those details, I’d be interested in creating a detailed procedure for others, including myself. I feel the mechAnics of listing, including photography, all the way through inventory and shipping as well as follow up admin and customer service are critical areas which hold us all back. Then there is the matter of dealing with increasing sell through for folks who have larger stores, whether that be through SEO, marketing, pricing, etc. welcome! Marjean28
Here’s my update on this. I have made vegetable broth 2 weeks in a row with great success. I just toss everything into a ziplock for a week and then add water. I put it under 8 lbs of pressure (that’s likely the lowest setting on your pressure cooker) for 8 minutes then just strain off all the liquid. This week I used it in split pea soup, which came together in another 12 minutes. (split pea = 2 bags split peas (about 3-4 cups) left-over ham shank, 1 diced onion, 3 diced carrots, 2 bay leaves, 2 tsp salt, all the broth – about 1 1/2 gallons) I ran that soup for 12 minutes at 8 pounds of pressure. yeah!
I’m going to try it, but (gasp) I think I’m going to try to put it all in the pot at once. hmmmm. might ge a fail. I’ll let you know.

number of items listed this week: 34As for smells, I would try baking soda to absorb the odors. As for gee-gaws, I put that in the same category as do-dads. You know, gee-gaws, do-dads, knick-knacks, and what-not. 🙂
I spent 29 cents on the DVD/VHS combo unit at the goodwill outlet (bins). Electronics of virtually any kind at that price seem to be a win. I haven’t been doing any listing since probably early December in my store. I was on a big rampage to get the house ready for the super bowl. There was all this media hype about millions of out of town people coming in for the super bowl, so I repainted every room in my house and cleaned like there was no tomorrow. Well, that didn’t pan out. There were a ton of us complaining on about the media hype about listing your house on Airbnb. I don’t know anyone who rented their house. The only people who commented on renting their house were folks who were already using Airbnb to rent their house and they essentially did little increase on their pricing. The rest of us thought were were going to get $5-10K/night. HA HA HA. Ya…no!!!!
So, its back to the eBay listing for me 🙂 I bought a bunch of men’s suit coats, slacks and a couple of suits at the Goodwill this week to try a new niche. I did luck into finding a nice brooks brothers suit and paid up for it: $20.
Tomorrow there is a 90% off sale at an antique store. I think I’ll see if a few of his high priced items are still around and go pick them up. I’m looking at some old candlestick style phones and a few items which appear to have been taken off a ship.
Thanks for the great podcast again this week! It was super timely because I listened to it while I was negotiating my way out of a return with the buyer!

Marjean28. Reason: forgot to add my remarks to the gee-gaws commentary and my items listed
Jay, I think you may have that one wrong. You get 50 free listings/month. So, if the listing is for 7 days, it would be 3 listings of the 50 for that month. If you list it for 30 days, then it’s, one listing. But on month 2, when that 30 day listing re-lists, it’s counted again. I think it counts the listing count for every time it’s relisted.
I just stumbled on this thread. I have been pulled away from eBay for a variety of reasons, the biggest being I’m going to list my house on Airbnb for the Super Bowl. So, I’ve been painting, sewing new curtains, decluttering, buying new linens, etc. once the Super Bowl is over, I’ll be back at eBay heavily and have a huge goal for myself to list 2500 items by the end of April. I hate working alone, so any manner of company or support during that process will be welcome. My death piles are overwhelmingly large, like many of yours. My biggest challenge is taking pictures and inventory management. I can’t remember where I put things so I need to inventory as I put everything away. This leads to listed piles and death piles. Good grief. I’ll pop my head back in after the Super Bowl.
Maribel,
That Limoges from France, price high and sit. It should be a winner in time anyway. Of the two kinds of China I’m always looking for, English Bone China and Haviland Limoges from France, the latter is my preferred. Congrats on your auction!

Brilliant idea. I heard a chef on the Splendid Table (MPR radio show) talk about this once. Makes great sense to me.
Real quick, some advice from your fellow trash elf in Minnesota, where it is currently double digits below zero and -40F with wind chill, rolled in insulation under your house must be properly sealed on both sides to ensure no condensation, which can lead to soggy insulation. That can lead to all kinds of trouble. A manageable approach for a DIYer is foam board insulation. I bet you two could do that yourselves for the cost of the material. Personally, I would never roll insulation in an application where it is anywhere near the ground. Plus, you need to leave an air gap between it and the floor. Tricky to do. Just my thoughts for what it’s worth.
What I would like is a platform to sell my dead weight inventory for crypto currency rather than just donating it.
Sweet!!!!! I’ll have to check them out. I want more mission money!!!!
There are gangs of nemesis buyers where I live. On 99 cent days, they come in and purchase everything at that price regardless of the condition. At the goodwill outlets, they work in crews and block off entire sections with their carts. There’s always book buyers with scanners at the book bins. It’s very competitive. The same people are there everyday.
I made friends with the cashier at the goodwill outlet, passing her little trinkets I found while thrifting, small tchachkies, and a little cash at Christmas. In return, she greatly points me in the right direction if there are good items in the case, or counts any ceramic at 29 cents.
Even with the crews working the bins though, they overlook vintage items regularly.
The clean up process if done by eBay takes roughly a day, but you can delete unused policies manually, really easily and immediately. It’s an option.
Welcome to the forum Spooky J!
