I agree with Flim about the photographery. A clean white background will pretty much do the job. Also, I’d take the lhoyo perpendicular to the item instead of at an angle. Good luck!!!!
The eternal conundrum, how to reliably source a good selling product to ensure a consistent return. I don’t know that I necessarily need to know how many buyers there are on eBay at any given time simply because there are so many different types of products sold on the platform. It ranges widely from automobiles all the way down to nuts and bolts and everything in between. I only need to concern myself with who will buy my junk, er ahh, quality goods (lol). I have two stores too. One is what I consider mine and my friends; the other is my husband’s.
Here’s the difference between the 2. In mine, we have about 600 items, and it’s a store. When we are regularly listing, we sell about $1000/month (not counting cogs). We have stuff in there from our houses, from the Goodwill bins, and maybe a little garage sale and estate sale sprinkled in. We sell bags, luggage, stuffed animals, china, shoes, clothing, books, magazines, etc. We sell around 60 items a month from this store, so roughly 10% monthly.
My husband’s store has ver selective stuff in it. He put up 10 listings, with no store, not a lot of feedback, no top seller status, no frills. he sold 3 listings within 10 days.
High demand items will sell, even if you’re just a tiny peon in the food chain.

Hi, sounds fortuitous, but I have a couple of questions for you. My background, by the way, is finance and banking, about 2 decades of which are in the mortgage space. I can tell you that you’re right about your market. I used to do mortgage financing for an investor group of commercial bankers by trade who bought in your area of residential properties for renting. It’s a great rental market for that kind of thing. I would ask, did you, of will you be getting a home inspection done? Is there a down payment structured in? And, what are the terms of financing? Friend or no friend, there’s a reason it’s being offered contract for deed to you rather than on the open market. Good luck!
Okay, I’m still trying to figure out what hard goods I can actually put in these steel file cabinets. Yes to china, pottery, lamps (sans shades because of the fabric), fans, metal pots, rubber boots, glass, plastic things, and……..? I can’t put clothing, fabric, books, records (because of paper jackets),shoes, magazines, purses, stuffed animals, sewing patterns, post cards, wooden objects, etc. So, what do you store in your outdoor (garage or shed) storage facility? My temps will go below freezing. Thanks for your input fellow trash elves.
Wow, that does look great!!!! Tomorrow morning, I start the garage clean out. The plan is to put metal file cabinets in on one side of the 2 car garage. I’m trying to figure out what can go out there in an unheated environment. It’s real cold here in winter, being it’s MN. I’ve heard Ryanne say not to put clothes out there, but I’m not sure why. Is it because the mice could get in them and nest?
Yes I have used a CSV flat file to upload listings into eBay. Maybe worth it, but it really depends on whether or not the items your listing have similar attributes. I think clothing would lend itself well to that. By similar attributes I’m thinking primarily of shipping. My recommendation is 2 get those 200 pieces listed manually because you need money now. However it would be worth it spending an hour a day working on gaining understanding of how to use the flat file uploading option through eBay. I used Excel not access. I don’t even know how you would use access to create a CSV file comma but I’m not an access person either so. I have a department within eBay that’s dedicated to helping people do this, and they’re super about providing support around the questions you have when you finally go to upload it. It didn’t take me that long actually to get a file together but at the time that I put the file together it became clear to me that the items really needed to have some similarities in order to be worthwhile. I’m not sure if it will really do anything to views, etc. I categorize it along the lines of free shipping, another thing that is supposed to increase sell through. As a standard poodle owner, even I would say awful, but only because of the price. If they were going for $2 or less at a garage sale, then yes.
Linda, tge theater on Coronado island is an amazing work of art. It’s a tiny theater but has the coolest skyline in lights on the walls. It’s the 2 views from the island if I remember correctly. A must see

Maybe this will help: We are discussing a transaction and the relative eBay rule it falls to. We are not discussing a matter of law. But, if you want to say that we are, because of the agreement you made to sell with the buyer, then look at the dollar amount. It’s likely an amount well within the threshold of small claims for your county. But put all that aside for a moment, because I feel you may have a legitimate out. There was an error in the listing! You listed it for 35, but you really were supposed to list it for $350. Cancel the sale, apologize to the buyer. Even refund the $35 they paid if you like. Then relist at $350 BIN. That’s what I’d do anyway. Good luck.
I’m going to start an Etsy experiment too. But at 20 cents a pop, I want to only list what makes sense. I’m tired of angry sellers already! I got one yahoo who didn’t follow any of the open a case rules in eBay, because English was a second language and they weren’t eBay savvy. As a result, I got a negative, and it’s making me super angry myself!
The Etsy allure, for me is 2-fold, a nicer, more educated customer base, who is motivated by their love of hand-crafted and vintage items. More art-fair, less garage-sale minded folk. And, Etsy has amazing metrics. The key word piece is huge. Instead of wondering about an algorithm, key word search data is available for every view. That’s amazing.
I’ll be happy to slowly get sales.
I called ebay and got the scoop. The promotion events only work on buy it now listings with multiples. Kind of more for those who sell new products
I handle it by having a 3 day shipping time! LOL! I just got top seller status for the first time ever and I have a 3 day handling time on all my listings. But to your point, I think you just have to print the shipping label by the next midnight within those 24 hours, and get it to the post office when it’s next open.
