Thanks for sharing. Very impressive. It blows me away that you can consistently find high quality clothing to sell, especially in such volume.

New items listed: 29Biggest sale of the week was an industrial nutcracker for $200. Some might remember my post on “what is this thing?” a few months ago. I picked it up at auction for $5.30. Sold it to a pecan farmer in Georgia who already had one and wanted another. A big thanks to Antique Frog for finding the original patent application and settling my doubts about its function.
This week had my longest tail item yet sell. A Starbucks mug from Lima, Peru that has been sitting for 2151 days. Took an offer for $17 on an asking of $19.95. I was surprised this took so long to sell as we have sold many Starbucks location mugs and they usually sell very quickly and often for good money. You never know…
Finally finished listing the lot of CDs I mentioned a few posts ago. I purchased about 400 CDs at auction for $102. Out of that 400 I listed 77 CDs for a potential total of just over $2000. I could potentially sell the remaining on Facebook but still considering whether I just drop them at Goodwill. This was an unusual lot as the seller seemed to have been involved with a few small labels and had a lot of obscure progressive rock, jazz and world music. I’m sure many of these will be long tail. Sold three already for a total of $75, so almost breaking even.
Went to a yard sale in my neighborhood over the weekend. Weird situation. The seller frequently has yard sales where she puts out dozens of storage boxes loaded to the brim with miscellaneous unsorted crap. We’ve found a few good items in the past there, but this time was a bust. I assumed she was an ebay seller that bought large lots, and this was the leftovers. I asked her if she sold on eBay and she said, “nah, that’s too much work”. If she finds something good, she has some friends that put it on eBay for her.
@the_seam_store – pretty impressive average sale price for clothes. One of the reasons I don’t sell them much is due to what I’ve been able to ask. Are you mostly selling suits?
@Jay – Was the auction for the house on the corner near the lake?

New items listed: 17Haven’t been on the forum much since taking a few weeks of vacation in early August. Between the vacation and end of summer activities haven’t even had time to run the numbers until last week. Had a very week month of August, having used Time Away for a few weeks and not having time to post much. I looked back at the last two years for the same time period and was amazed. For the same period in 2020: $4400. 2021: $2200 2022: $661 Ouch!! 2020 was a bit of an aberation having sold an $1800 item, but still…
Hope you guys can find another solution for the forum firehose. I miss the daily download. Not having those daily reminders definitely cuts back on my trips to the forum. Probably better for my productivity, but I miss the community, and for me and my ADD, out of sight is often out of mind.
Good hunting!
@retro-treasures-wv – Great sales on those toner cartridges!
Awesome on the points vacation. I’ve never seen 9x points for anything. Just for shipping is an odd one. Is it sponsored by a shipping provider? That resort looks like fun.
@craig-rex – Gutsy move on the auctions. That is a lot to take care of when you get home. I like the way you set them up though. I assume all of the auctions were for inventory that was stagnant and you were OK getting half price with? Might half to give that a try on some of my older inventory. Hope it turns out well.
Sorry to hear of your troubles. I was worried when I stopped in after an absence of a few weeks and saw no activity. Glad it is sorted. Doesn’t sound like a cheap fix, but a solid repair that eases your peace of mind has a lot of value.
I knew something was amiss. I have been away from the forum for several weeks due to travel that I hadn’t realized until I sat down to do my numbers this week. Which, btw, there isn’t a post for this week’s numbers. Did you guys go away for the holidays?
A Belgian also invented something that makes most scavengers hearts quicken: bakelite!
<p style=”text-align: left;”>I’ve seen that one before. Very funny and largely accurate.</p>
Why Belgium every year?
Cecile is Belgian so we go every year to visit family. We want to keep our kids, who have dual citizenship, familiar with their Belgian heritage and in touch with all their cousins.
Took most of last week off for a trip down to Florida and used the Time Away feature. Didn’t have time to put together my numbers for the previous week, so both weeks are here. Considering how slow things have been, I was pleasantly surprised that my sales didn’t dip.
This was my first time taking time off since starting to sell on Etsy. I was surprised to find that Etsy doesn’t have a good method for continuing sales while you are away. You can turn your whole store off, but there isn’t an easy way to extend shipping time across the store (like eBay does with policies). I use Sixbit, and in theory I should have been able to make a bulk change, but for some reason couldn’t get them to stick and in the process lost part of my sync so that I have more items in the store than I have in Sixbit. A lot of wasted time trying to straighten that out and still have a call scheduled with Sixbit support to see what happened.
We will be taking a 2 week break starting next week for our yearly trip to Belgium so probably won’t be on the forum for several weeks.

Unfortunately, I found out about it when my mother forwarded it to the youth pastor at her church to shop for some clothes.
Ouch! Doubly embarassing.
I’ve just about stopped going to my local thrifts due to just these issues we’re discussing. There is either nothing there I find worth buying, or items that are worth buying are overpriced and wouldn’t be profitable.
I just had my mind blown going to the Goodwill online store. I am going to have to start trolling there for inventory. Most of the items I looked at were up for auction and everything I was interested in was a decent prices. Am going to place a few bids and see what happens.
