Hmm, guess I’m just lucky. That’s what I have been doing, migrating to new policies, as it comes up. Weird that it is progressing.
Frog – Thanks. I looked up the gathering pallet issue. Sounds about right. Doesn’t look easy to fix though. I’ll have to check with a clock repair and see if the cost of the repair still leaves me some profit it I can sell it again at this price.
Been quite a while since I posted as life has been busy. eBay, not so much. Most of our listing lately has been from the old unlisted inventory piles. Hope everyone is well.

New Listings Value $495.00That fee is news to me. I just recently had a dispute that went in my favor. It was for a $450 dollar item, but eBay handled it and I didn’t have to get involved. They notified me when the dispute was filed and then notified me again when it was resolved. My understanding is that we are protected in these situations as long as we fulfill a property placed order in good faith. Wonder what is different about your order?
To underscore how little value these cards have, I bought a lot of about 10,000 cards from this era for about $20 thinking, surely, there had to be something of value. After putting a box of 5000 up for auction and getting no bids, I put the box up for $20. After several months of no few views and no offers, I took an offer of $10 for the box, plus shipping of something like $17 (large flat rate box). Fortunately, there was a set of 41 chrome basketball cards that I sold for $42, but a lot time spent learning that they are basically worthless. Still have a box of about 5000 football cards that I haven’t listed since it isn’t even worth the effort to take pictures.

Sold a lot of items this week, for us. Still getting a lot of sales based on the end of year Xmas discount and from sending out 15% off coupons to watchers. Accepting a lot of lower offers than I would normally as so much of the items are old inventory. Pity it wasn’t all full price, but nice to see older items moving on.
@ChristineR – Will be watching your experiment. Good luck!

New Listings Value $806.45Not finding a lot of time\energy for eBay since Christmas. Fortunately, sales keep coming anyway. Hard being your own boss. I really need to sit myself down for a talk…
Sending and receiving a lot of offers. Any old inventory is getting a quick accept as long as it is above 50%. Even at that, profit margin is pretty good as most of the stuff that is currently selling I picked up for next to nothing. About 1/4 of the sales came from my 30% off after Christmas sale.01/18/2024 at 12:50 pm in reply to: What sold; Record stand, Crosley speaker, Reel tapes, Lowry tremelo #102181Good to see you back. I missed the last few. Not sure why I’m not getting notified when you post.
Nice bunch of sales. Those reel-to-reel tapes always seem to sell well for you.
I had a few interesting sales this last week. This industrial, wide-carriage typewriter took a while to sell. It was quite something to pack, requiring a small bit of disassembly before it would fit in the largest box I had on hand. I built a Styrofoam surround for it to protect it. Fingers crossed on shipping. https://www.ebay.com/itm/134703284580
This antique, wire-wrapped Christmas ornament sold for much less than I’d hoped during a 30% off sale I was running. https://www.ebay.com/itm/134767837119
A vintage double-deck of cards, branded with the Muzak name. Had them up for quite a while and they sold from a watched item discount I sent out. https://www.ebay.com/itm/133775058365
@Sharyn – I’ve always wondered about Ruby Lane. Will be watching eagerly to wee how it goes for you. Good luck. Always interesting learning a new system.

New Listings Value $0.00Busier this week as I ran a big sale and pushed out a 15% off watched item coupon. Sent out coupons to about 1400 watchers. I was pleasantly surprised to see that a 15% off coupon had as much affect as it did. I usually send targeted offers on items at 30% and rarely get any takers, but I’ve always been fairly selective. After a weaker than anticipated Christmas season I was feeling a bit desperate so went large. Sales continued strongly through the weekend and I had the most packages ever to ship after a long weekend – I think 21 packages. It was a lot of old inventory selling cheap. If not for my big typewriter sale my average sale price was $20. I didn’t think through the push completely and didn’t realize my 15% off would be combined with a 30% off sale I was running on Christmas items, so sold a lot of items for close to 40% off.
I am really nervous about the typewriter I shipped as it was a beast, weighing 35 lbs. Big industrial, military-type from the 50’s. I checked tracking this morning and something is wrong as the package has been going back and forth between two Fedex centers and the notes indicate “Shipment exception” several times. I did insure it, so we’ll see what happens.
Won a bunch of drums (~20) at an auction this past week. Crazy online auction that had lots closing every 6 seconds with 90 lots all closing within 20 minutes. I would have bid on more but didn’t have enough time to place bids on all the lots and keep up with the ones I’d already bid on. I’m sure that’s the reason I got the lots as cheap as I did. Most are high end specialty drums and many of them will sell for more than I paid for the whole lot. Only challenge is that several of them are large. Going to list on Facebook in hopes I can avoid shipping.
Good luck with the final store prep. I’m sure it will be spectacular.
@Jay – Looking forward to the opening of the new cafe. I’ve never taken the drive over to Harrisonburg. This’ll give us an excuse to see more of the valley. Good luck with the opening.

New Listings Value $0.00Wow, all of you are having a heck of a start to the new year. Congrats.
Not too busy here. Best sale of the week was a mid-century “Crazy Legs” lamp. I had it up for $150 but took a best offer of $115. Another nice sale was a $100 for a reloading die for bullets for a .38 Special that I got in a large lot earlier in the year.
Had my first good run through a thrift store in ages last week. Went to a Goodwill that I haven’t been to in years. Used to be very mediocre. Last week I walked out with a grocery cart full. Most exciting find was a cool tiki mug that should sell for $80.
Mostly offline this last week of the year. Spent time with family and took a short trip up to Philly for a few days. Ended out the year with a wimper. Strange statistic from my store. I sold the exact number of items this year and last: 634. Hard to imagine that happening, but it did.
