Hi Pikapop, you will be charged for the upgrade. There is not a way to charge the buyer in eBay for the extra, but you could have the buyer send payment to your paypal for the difference. Or cancel the sale and have them repurchase for the correct shipping option. As long as you’ve clearly communicated with the buyer regarding what the payment is for and it is post sale, giving them your paypal account shouldn’t cause any problems.

New items listed: 8Good to see your sales boost. I had a good boost as well. Best since early July. Surprsingly, Etsy accounted for 30% of my sales this week after being very quiet this summer. This week reminds me of what is essential for good sales, “Always be listing”. 50% of my sales were from items posted within the last month.
Best sale of the week was a Time-Life LP Box set of Christmas music. This was still sealed and from the 1980’s. I paid $1.10 for it and it sold for $199.95. It came in a lot of box sets. I really didn’t expect it to sell for so much, but saw another had sold for that much earlier in the year and shot high, expecting to open it for offers after a few weeks, but it sold in 5 days.
I took a gamble in the same auction and bid on an early Macintosh computer hoping it still worked. It didn’t, but decided to part it out and sell the mouse, keyboard and CPU separately. All three sold within 10 days of posting. I expected to take a small loss but ended up turning $89 in $330.
10/10/2022 at 5:05 pm in reply to: Pendleton shirt, Bass guitar, Campaign hat, Philco Predicta TV #97997Nice sales! Love that TV. Must have been tough to let it go. As my grandfather always like to say, “you’ll never get another one like it”. But, of course, you probably will as you seem to have a knack for finding things like this.
I am impressed that your dogs have enough self control to not follow that deer to the ends of the earth. I’m afraid I’d never see mine again if a deer ever came pounding by while they were off leash.
@retro-treasures-wv – That storage clean-up is inspiring. I definitely need to follow your lead. Gotta love finding room without spending money.
You must be better at not misplacing items than I am if you’re using the carboard storage boxes. Having the clear sided boxes from Costco has saved me time on several occasions when I have put something in the wrong box.
This person thinks it is for Libya:
1980 Olympic Moscow Libyan Arab Jamahiriya NOC Volleyball Delegation pin | eBay
Antique Frog is correct on the first, hot air balloon. As the second pin has Olympic rings on it, I’d bet it has something to do with an arabic countries Olympic golf team. Possibly Saudi Arabia as their flag is green Flag of Saudi Arabia | Flagpedia.net,
My auction haul this week was full of quality items. I was excited to have won so may lots for decent prices as that hasn’t been the norm of late. Bonus that this auction delivers your winnings to your door. I’m lazy since the pandemic started and don’t like bidding on auctions that are farther away from my house than about 30 minutes, with some exceptions. I’ll always bid on his because of this. Sometimes I only win one item for a low-ball price and he still delivers. I imagine it pays off to some degree for him as I drive the prices up on even the auctions I don’t win.
In addition to the Stanley plane that I mentioned in my weekly numbers I picked up a lot of Time Life LP box sets. The previous owner was an executive with Time-Life and had several sets that were still sealed. I picked up the lot for $9 and listed the first 3 of the sets for a total of $280. I held back two sets because they are duplicates and will wait until the others sell before listing them.
Another lot had a Sangean shortwave radio receiver in excellent condition. I paid $26 for it and hopefully it will sell for $125.
I also took a risk and bought a vintage 1984 Macintosh Plus in the auction. It was in “untested” condition. These sell great if they are working but I only bid up to the price I knew I could sell it for broken. I ended up paying $89 for it, and it is broken. I was just about to list it for $99 when I decided to look up what I could get for the keyboard and mouse. Turns out the keyboard is selling for $125 and the mouse for about $80. So, listed separately for a total of $329.
@Sharyn – I’ve seen that watchers without views, also. That used to confuse me. I’ve chalked that up to the ability to click on the heart in the pictures when you see a list of items which adds it to your watch list without having to click into the listing.
If it was a book, did you ship it media mail? It would have to go up in weight drastically for it to make that big of a difference.
I could imagine this happening if you had a package that was close to the limit for the next charging tier on either weight or size, but I have never had a situation where this has occurred. I have heard of aggressive offices that are really picky on size, but to double the price seems extreme and probably would only happen if your package went from under 1 cubic foot to over.
Anna, Great job on the video. You looked very professional and the tips were great. You’re a natural.

New items listed: 18Didn’t have time to put my numbers together for the previous week, but they were really lousy for me (only 5 sales for < $150) This week was better but still below what I’m used to seeing this time of year. Trying to remedy this lackluster performance with a boost of some higher quality items. Spent $416 at an auction and sprinted to get almost all of the items listed this week. The best item I listed is an antique Stanley No. 55 combination plane. I paid $214 for it and hope to get $750.
I’m already encouraged as many of the items already have lots of views and watchers. Since eBay changed the views counting system I’ve been shocked at how few views many of my items get now compared to previously. It was a rare item that didn’t have views within 24 hours and now it is common for days or even weeks to pass for some items. So, seeing lots of views quickly at least makes me feel like I’m posting better items. Time will tell.
I’m working on getting myself more organized and made a run through my death piles this morning and pulled items I’m not excited about listing and dropped them at Goodwill during my Fedex run. I stopped in the Goodwill to see what might be for taking and it was all just junk to me. The place was very busy and there was a line at the check out, so obviously eye of the beholder.
Made a trip to the mall over the weekend to get Cecile a new iPad. I keep hearing that the economy is going into a downturn, but couldn’t tell that from the mall. Busiest I’ve seen it since the Pandemic started. There was a 2 -hour wait to be served at the Apple store and most stores had good crowds.
As an aside, I saw one of the craziest things in the mall. A woman in a wheel chair was there taking her two pet geese on a walk around. Had them dressed up in little outfits and wearing diapers. No leash and they just followed along ignoring the crowds.
Even more expensive if you want to inegrate with more than one other marketplace. The $120 is just for one, you get “unlimited” at the next level for $160/month. Pricing – SixBit Software
I’ll be interested to hear how Vendu works.
@Mark-s – I’ve been cross listing to Etsy since January using Sixbit. Their cheapest option that actually allows you to cross-list to another “channel” is $120/month. I find it pretty pricey, and it has a big learning curve. Once you’ve got the hang of it, it is pretty easy and I find I like using it better than the eBay interface. I believe they have an option where you can get assistance to ease the learning curve and it might be worth paying to speed things up.
I only have 254/1088 of my listings cross listed due to what I’ve deemed good fit. I’ve been underwhelmed by the amount of increased sales for my store. That said, Etsy has accounted for about 10% of my sales this year and only 25% of my store is on there. I sell mostly vintage collectibles and I don’t have the impression that Etsy is the best place to sell these. I’m still weighing whether the benefit makes up for the effort, but I’m going to hold on through the end of the year to see how the Christmas season plays out.
Yeah, I turned off Global Shipping on all of my listings long ago. A fair amount of my CD and album sales end up overseas. Saves them $5 or so on every order at least.
