MDC, thank you for such a thorough explanation. I need you to become my best friend and let me tag along with you and your 100 power, lighted loupe-mini microscope the next time I am in Atlanta. You could teach a bunch of us scavengers on art. It is so hard to decipher, as AdventureE says when we are out and about trying to find something that has some sellable value. I thought the train subject would allow me to at least get my $5 investment back. Even looking at it at the garage sale, I could tell that it was not a painting. I think I saw that there were “several” online (including on eBay) and prices were all over the board. I have another piece of artwork up that I called a Giclee from some of the online information I found on it (it is called Wedding Memories, Memorias De Boda by Consuelo Gamboa). I guess I will put it up for around 29.99 and see what happens. Thanks so much for the advice!
Steven, first, I am so sorry on the loss of your kitty. They really become part of the family. Second, thank you for consistently posting your ‘what Sold” videos. I love them and learn so much from them. I wish I was brave enough (and knowledgeable) enough to sell electronics! You rock! (does anyone even say that anymore?)
Thanks, Karen. I picked it up today at a garage sale for $5. I thought the “train” as well as the “Illinois” subject would appeal to a number of different buyers. Prices are all over the board on eBay and Etsy (I only sell on eBay) so I am hoping to find out how to properly list it. Unframed will be lighter to ship, too,
So, let me tell you how this snowbird handled her eBay inventory this year. Normally, we come to Arizona January, February and March. Last year, I only had about 200 items listed, so I was able to put it all into boxes in the back of my Ford Escape and bring it with me to Arizona. However, my transmission went out on the way down (not sure if it was due to the heavy inventory I loaded? I also had about 200,000 miles, so maybe it was just time). This year, we are here October through March and I have about 380 items listed. Since we came for a half a year, we brought many more items with us. I am a huge couponer and I couldn’t bring myself to pay full price for canned items, cleaning items, health & beauty items, etc. so we brought that with us as well as our bikes, etc. We ended up buying an enclosed trailer that I will be taking off our taxes as an item needed for my eBay business (since buying things at estate sales can sometimes need an enclosed trailer to bring home). Everything is in bins labels for identification purposes. It worked out well and I keep my bins in the trailer in the garage for extra protection.
I had issues printing today (Saturday, too). I ended closing everything out. According to my eBay account, I never purchased the postage and there was nothing taken out of my PayPal account…so I paid again and this time it went through like usual.
Okay, that worked, but upside down! Ugh! So, any help on this would be appreciated!

https://imgur.com/a/1VXySOutside of the eBay realm, I was on an off ramp with a work vehicle. We were stopped waiting for others in front of us to go through a stop sign. We were inching up and I really just tapped the bumper of the guy in front of me. We exchanged information since there was no damage to either vehicle and went our separate ways. A few days later, I received a bill for $1200 to replace the back bumper of the other vehicle. Since there had been no damage, I didn’t report it to my company and now it was too late (I could have been disciplined for not reporting the same day). I went to the repair place and asked how they could give that estimate and the guy said that there was no damage, but he was asked for an estimate on what it would be to replace the bumper. I ended up paying it sending a note with my personal address (in another state) telling him that I believe in Karma and if he found that he was experiencing bad juju because of what he did, he could return the funds. Of course, I never heard from him again (this was about 6 years ago) but it made me feel better that he knew that I knew (even after he threatened to report me to my company for not reporting it in the first place). Some people just aren’t worth my time and energy. I only have so much time and energy in a given day and if waste either on someone not worth it, then it becomes my problem. Good luck to you!
Yes, Jay, that is the announcement I was referring to that I didn’t understand so hoped it didn’t pertain to me. Seems like if your listing is listed as http, you listing may be suppressed in searches and they need to be changed to https. Thanks for the bulk checker tool!
It sounds like the guest listens to the podcasts (not sure if he comes to the forums). At least they both loved your store (maybe they were just sucking up?)
I was just coming here to see if this is happening to anyone. Long-tail items are certainly at risk. I am wondering if revising items, such as the title or item specifics, could prevent deletion?
I have always thought the dings on handling time was ridiculous. When eBay gives you until midnight Pacific Time to mail something, who has the ability to mail something after their post office closes (most close at 5 PM). I think that is changing with the new spring update where you will be able to give your specific time cut-off in your area…so if you letter carrier picks up at 3 PM at your home, I think you will be able to list 3 PM as your cut-off for your handling time.
I don’t think there is any weighing process after acceptance unless the receiving office thinks the package was underpaid and there needs to be a collection of money for insufficient postage. But if eBay won’t accept the acceptance post office weight, why would the accept a day or two later at the delivery point. I don’t get why the weight at acceptance doesn’t prove it to eBay…what more could you do?
