So if the buyer never responds, it is the consensus that you keep the jacket and not issue a refund? Won’t they just go through PayPal. Now what would the buyer do…put in a INAD return request? How can he return it now and put a DelCon in the system since he doesn’t have the jacket anymore?
I left Wisconsin for Arizona for January, February and March. The way I handled my inventory was I deactivated breakables and large items (which took my inventory from about 260 items to about 180 items). I put my inventory into about 8 boxes and labeled them and my items in each box. Once I got here, I started thrifting to bulk up my inventory and I am now over 200 (in about a week or two). I will keep thrifting until I get my inventory back up to about 250, then as I get closer to leaving, I will stop thrifting to get my inventory back to a manageable, moveable amount. I put my store on vacation as I traveled as I thought it would be too difficult and distracting to have to find inventory, enough packaging material, set up my printer and find a Post Office to ship. I could probably ship while on the road since just about every hotel we’ve been in had a business center to print my labels (only one didn’t because their computers weren’t working).
Ryanne, I do the same thing. One label at a time because I KNOW I would mix them up.
I know sellers who draft as many listings as they can on one day when they have abundant time, but only activate 5 at a time on any one day and leave the rest in draft form. The next day, activate 5 more from that large list and so on. I am pretty sure Ryanne uses the scheduled listing feature to do this automatically, I guess if I have a lot of time on my hands, I might try this to keep feeding the beast and have new listings each day to bring my items at the top of the search.
I have only made an offer once off of a question (a flip number AM/FM clock radio). The question was does the light bulb work inside the clock. The bulb did not work so I took $10 off in an offer and they accepted it and purchased my clock. Yay!
I am really confused by this post…isn’t EVERYONE a Packer fan? Anyway, even before the game started, both the Packers and the Lions made the playoffs, so sell that jacket to those bad sports Lions fans!
I will be traveling from Wisconsin to Arizona (Phoenix area) for January, February and March. I’d love to know of estate sales I should pay attention to even if there is traveling involved. I will have to leave most of my inventory back home, so I will have to start new inventory when I get there!
Hi Will. I am in the Milwaukee area and there are a number of us from Wisconsin here. I will be traveling to Arizona for January, February and March. I’d love to do a meet-up with fellow scavengers when I get back and the weather gets better. Another winter storm a brewing for the second weekend in a row. Tired of it already!
I finally got to the bins at the Goodwill Outlet in Appleton. Not a lot of stuff I was interested in. I want to stay away from hard goods for the time being because I am headed to Arizona for January, February and March and I am taking what inventory I can which will mainly be clothes and light items such as fabric. I bought 8 pounds of stuff and sold one item almost immediately (a Green Bay Packer huddler/Snuggie) for 24.99 plus shipping, so that more than paid for my 2 hour trip there. I will definitely go again when I get back and I will also check out the bins in Arizona when I get there. I am glad I went.
Hi Tim. I am from Milwaukee and I went to “the bins” for the first time in Appleton the Wednesday before Thanksgiving. I only bought 8 pounds of all clothes. I haven’t listed them yet (I am waiting for a sunny day in order to list so I have proper light to take photos). It wasn’t as busy as I thought it would be, but it was probably because of thanksgiving. It is so funny to have to wait until the employees say, “Start shopping” before you can dive in. You can kinda tell if the bin is going to have hard goods or clothes in them and everyone positions themselves in front of the kind of bin they are interested in.
Where in Northeast Wisconsin are you? There are some online auctions that I watch and bid on, but pick up is usually around the Portage area. Maybe some of us Wisconsin Trash Elves can have a field trip to “the bins” some day!
What I don’t get is when you have until 3 AM to ship. What Post Office is open at 3 AM to make that requirement. They almost all close around 5 PM, so you really lose 10 hours of shipping time.

So the way I see it, if it sells after the Post Office is closed Monday-Friday, you have to ship the next day before it closes to meet the 1-day requirement. I would have made the rule that if the sale comes after 5 PM, you have past the next day (so almost a two-day allowance) because it is less than a 1-day standard the way eBay requires it. It is like at the Post Office for Express Mail…if you get it to them after the cut-off (usually around 3PM depending on the destination) they give themselves an extra day to get it delivered. I still don’t get it, so I always ship the following day regardless of when the sale comes in.I thought I had shell cordovan men’s shoes and took them to a cobbler to be sure and they ended up being eel skin instead. I don’t think I’ll even be able to identify them. The eel didn’t seem to crease either.
I’m thinking as I sell off listed inventory that are large/breakable before Christmas, I will relist with non-breakables and smalls. I will take as much inventory as I can pack and deactivate what I don’t want to or can’t take out of my store. As I travel and buy, I will only buy smalls and non-breakables. Three months in Arizona should be enough time to dwindle down my inventory until I can build it back up when I get back once yard sales start up again. I thought about opening another store, but I want to try this first. I will probably use the hotel printers on the way to print out any labels of items I sell while traveling. I will give it a whirl.
