Those are hilarious. I especially like the one badgering you and changing her id. Good eye on your part. Last week I had someone ask for the measurements on a skirt. I provide waist and length. They asked for waist, hip, (how do you even measure that on a full skirt??) length and measure the width of the bottom. One minute later they wanted a picture of the tag confirming it was indeed silk/linen blend like I said. Blocked.
Then there was the person that wanted a picture of me wearing a pair of size 11 penny loafers and pushing down the brake pedal to show her husband they were good driving shoes. (She had just broken her ankle.) They were way too big for me and I wouldn’t do that anyway but guess what this person has sold in the last year? 12 pairs of size 11 penny loafers… Yeah Blocked.
I almost never wash my goodwill clothes because all the tags stay on and if they haven’t sold for a year or so I can take them back. 🙂 If it has a stain and I think I can sell it I will wash it otherwise I do air some of them out. I wash pretty much all of my thrift store clothes since they tend to have that thrift store odor. I wash in scent free soap and use vinegar as softener. I had one person complain about an offensive odor and demand a return since it was defective. I knew it had no odor. What was more I used to live in the very city in the southwest that she lived in and knew all she would have had to do was air it out… which she could not possibly do it stuck so badly it was in the corner of the garage in a bag. 🙂 I insisted she pay to return it and she did. Paying twice as much as she would have if she had used the correct reason to return it and gotten a label. That made me smile. 🙂 I did not wash the jacket which shockingly had no odor and when I re-sold it a month later the new owner never said a word about the supposedly offensive odor. I checked the person’s feedback and she likes to complain about smell a lot. Blocked. 🙂
I don’t think they do. 🙂 I sell mostly clothes and last year eBay wanted me to offer priority. So on the items that could go first class I offered first class first and priority second. Then I started noticing ridiculous low best offers coming in and they were always with priority shipping selected. Even though I had first class first I wonder if eBay was auto selecting priority? I took priority off those lighter items and things are still selling just fine. Who knows?
Definitely grandma’s flower garden pattern and yes it looks hand quilted. As far as desirability I would never attempt it simply because of it’s intricacy so that might add to the value. As far as the edges of the quilt you could refer to it as scalloped. What a beautiful quilt you found!

It works very well for me. They give an estimated wait time and always call sooner and I don’t have to listen that horrible hold music. I got the account health email and was told my return rate is .84% and average is .56%. Five of my items did not meet buyer’s expectations. The annoying thing is one was my fault I missed a defect. The rest were faulty not as described claims (color) and one was a music box sold through Global Shipping Program. It went to Australia and was smashed. Thankfully it made it to Kentucky fine so I didn’t have to refund but I really do not think that should have been counted… So, the data seems flawed. And yes I fight every return for not as described if it is used incorrectly. My latest one was a return where she said in her return there was nothing wrong with the sweater but she chose defective as the return reason since she already had one in that color. I tried something new with this one. I accepted the return without talking to her, (it never works anyway) figured out what her refund would have been minus return shipping and restocking fee and when I got it back called ebay and refunded over the phone. No stress. And case closed in my favor. I sell mostly clothes and so returns are part of that but ouch when they try to game the system it gets expensive! Not looking forward to free returns and no restocking fees. Funny thing is I never had restocking fees but was advised by an ebay rep to use them. 🙂 Guess I will enjoy them while I have them!
I pay my kids a 10% Finder’s Fee. Two of them love it the others don’t seem as interested. My son finds stuff I would never pick up and my daughter and I are in friendly competition to see who gets to certain areas first since we both pick up similar things. It’s fun!
ThatAnonymousWoman,
I refunded through PayPal while on the line with ebay. They closed the case. If that helps…Me too AtomicStar. Free returns will be very difficult to absorb. And the restocking fee going away? Ebay reps encouraged me to add that in in the first place! 🙂 I hope they rethink those two. I am top rated with an inventory of about 1600 and about 100 sales a month. That could be difficult to absorb.
It is discouraging. The last one I had she didn’t like the color and opened a case as defective. I don’t think she wanted it in the first place since she sent a best offer which I accepted and then waited until an unpaid item case opened to pay. Anyway she knew the system since I responded to her request saying that was not a legitimate reason to claim defective and she could send it back but i would not be paying shipping. She refused to communicate until the deadline for the request was up and escalated it to ebay who automatically accepted the return. Grr. I had called ebay before she escalated and they agreed it was buyer’s remorse and said to wait. I was very nervous letting her escalate it because that normally does not turn out well. Anyway after she escalated I called and they said wait until it comes back and call us back. I did and they agreed it was buyer’s remorse and had me refund her through PayPal for only the cost of the sweater minus my restocking fee and then closed the case with no defect to me. They did charge me for the return label so I called again and they credited that to my next statement. I was happy it turned out well but wish there was an easier to navigate system. The funniest part was I did the math for the refund and said I am refunding her X. Does that sound right and the rep said he didn’t know. 🙂 So do call but be prepared for it to take awhile though. This one took three weeks to resolve.
Exact same thing happened to me this week. I tried taking pictures and adding them from my photo library and that didn’t work either. So then I restarted the phone and updated it. After that I was still not able to upload photos using the app. I was able to take the pictures with my camera with the ebay app not opened. Then I would open the ebay app and select use photo library and then they would upload. This was Monday I think. Tuesday I had the same issue but then Wednesday and Thursday it was back to working the old way. Hope you can get it working. It was incredibly frustrating.
No Problem 🙂
Sounds like Rhapsody on a Theme of Paganini by Rachmaninoff. One of my daughters currently has this as one of her piano lessons songs. Been hearing it a lot! 🙂
