Late to the party (no surprise there).
Definitely grateful for Jay and Ryanne sharing their wisdom, humor, and experiences, and just as importantly, their consistency. Also grateful for everyone in the forum who, too, share their knowledge and experiences and humor in their posts.
Am also grateful for my health, and the fact that the pandemic, while horrible, has propelled me into another tax bracket-nothing crazy, but I’ll take it.
And above all, I am grateful for science.
Looking forward to 2021
The_SEAM_Store and Jay, Bingo! That was it. I get so involved (especially lately) in listing, that when I see anything other than a new listing, it throws me. It was so weird. The way the what I thought were “offers” was set up, it truly looked like offers I received. Thanks everyone!
11/28/2020 at 6:08 am in reply to: Merry Christmas To Me! Look what I found in this vintage Christmas stocking! #83769That is hilarious. I was about to dig out all of my Christmas stockings I have up already.
AntiqueFrog, ok, I will have to further research these things. Good to know there is a market for this sort of thing.
Good tip, Steve. I don’t think I’ve ever come across a film projector, but come to think of it, I do have an old school roll up projector screen with stand. To be fair, not sure I’d recognize an 8mm projector if it fell on me. I’ll have to research images of what one looks like. Not good at these old school technologies, but I am old enough to remember teachers using these things in school. Ha!
AntiqueFrog, yes, in the U.S., .55 is our letter rate. I struggled with the tracking as well. Ultimately, what I did was, I sent as a letter, stuck a postage stamp on it and uploaded “1234” as the tracking number. Thanks for the response.
Mike, I really enjoy reading your posts.
I’m sure I’m in the minority here, but I really try not to overthink the whole “Why are my sales so slow?”. I always have a couple of plates spinning at the same time, so that certainly is part of why I do not think of it, however, I also believe that there are enough “nouveau riche” out there that if there were something that they wanted to buy from ebay, they would just do it. I always think of Jay & Ryanne’s podcast episodes where they state “I am not my customer”. Because if I “were”, …
Thanks so much, @Amatino!
11/23/2020 at 7:04 pm in reply to: Scavenger Life Episode 489: Business = Resource Management Video Game #83642Oh geez. As per usual, the podcast was informative, and enlightening. I have never walked away from a podcast saying to myself “Now THAT was a waste of time!” Never! However, this time I walked away thinking about what Jay said. “…unless you have a bunch of junk in your store…” or something to that effect. And I thought is THAT what it is? DO I have a bunch of “junk” in my store? Hhmmm…something to ponder. I have a little over 600 items and while at the onset of the pandemic, I was making $2,000-$3,000/month in my ebay store, I am now at about $200.-$300./per month. Maybe, just maybe I DO have a bunch of “junk” in my store! I digress. Thanks for the podcast. Like I said. Always helpful, always informative.
Don’t know much about video games, but sometimes I wish I did. I come across them frequently and just pass them up because, I just feel like I have enough on my plate to worry about video games and what sells in that area.
MyCottage, glad to know I’m not the only one scavenging boxes :), Makes me feel so normal.
Have a great Thanksgiving all!

Sad week here
Finally have over 600 items in my store-I took a long time to get there. Now, my goal is to get to 700 before the end of the month, but I have a lot of other extraneous things to take care of this month, so that will definitely be a huge challenge.
Looking forward to today (or tomorrows podcast)
Also, I realized, I photographed the floats side. Ha! That’s what I get for being far-sighted. The dragons are actually gold with a blue background, not the other way around.
Amatino, those are beautiful! Those are 45″ wide though. This is 28″ wide. This does not look like it would be purchased at a big box fabric store. It has more of a “dull” finish to the blue-probably due to being a natural fiber.
Cyndy, thanks for the suggestions. I guess I’m thinking it is Japanese only because it is 28″ wide. I did a burn test. It is silk. It has a really nice hand to it. A friend of my went to Japan and purchased an obi and had me make runners out of it. The fabric my friend had was a little stiffer and not as nice as this. This seemingly is a very nice quality fabric. Ironically, the Japanese fabrics I’ve seen through my online searches are a lot less expensive than the Chinese fabrics using the same search terms “kimono gold thread dragon fabric”. Not sure how that is possible.
