I would list my stats, but they are pretty slim. I’m small time and not that organized. Something to aspire to in 2021.
Just wanted to comment on, was it just me, or was this week’s podcast chock full of information? I never feel “uninformed” after listening, but this week was awesome. And of course, my favorite part-the laughterđ Thanks  Jay and Ryanne.
I did have a question though. Many times when I get notified of the podcast, I am curious about the initial image you have on the YouTube version (not sure if it shows on other platforms). I always want to know about the item/s shown. Are they items you have sold that week? Things you have listed? They are just really intriguing most times.
AntiqueFrog, thanks for sharing. I did look at Hunderdtwasser’s work, I can see why you would say that. It’s always great checking out new (to me) artists work.
Apeture, good observation. I love talavera, and had not thought of that. Those masks are wooden though. To me, I get a 70’s vibe from them.
I have this mask too, but this looks more modern, possibly Fimo clay, or Sculpey. The mask is missing earrings, I suppose I can fashion some and add them. I have Fimo and don’t think I could do too much damage by adding them. Thoughts?
I’ve added 2 different ways to (hopefully) show the image. Thanks for your patience. Thanks AntiqueFrog
Thank you, kindly, Temudgin!
I know nothing Chinese characters. I am always afraid of putting upside down. And so, I did! Â ugh. Thanks to Antique Frog and PDX_Cindy. That helps.
Yay they worked. The plate is 7.5″
AntiqueFrog, Thanks for that link. Geez, Who knew?? That is a great resource for masks! Sharyn, “For work…I traveled to an Indonsian island…”-wow! That’s great. I only travel to the post office. đ Sure wish I could have a job where I could see the world. Okay, maybe after the pandemic. Amatino, thanks for your input too. These resources and comments sure help with trying to decide how to list these.
I have these 3 masks. Not sure what they are worth. Not sure if all are African. There are so many variations of these, not sure if these are Pier 1 type masks, or the real deal. Any mask experts or any one with any experience selling these? Not sure what to price them at. Sure donât want to over price, if itâs something like Cost Plus, Pier 1, etc.
I just received an email from etsy that they have me in their cue, and should expect them to reach out to me in 5-7 days. No bueno.
In my chat with Etsy, they referred me to another department. Said they would email me when they got to me in the cue. Really? See. This is where ebay is so much better than etsy. This is the reason I would rather ask the forum members here, rather than deal with etsy. I see this as an etsy fail. Â Any how. I have not yet heard from them (etsy0. This buyer has done nothing I requested, no pics, poor communication, and now she has damaged my fabric. I guess I’ll refuse to refund her money, but I’ll send her this fabric back at her expense. I cannot sell fabric with smells of cat urine and cigarettes. I can only imagine her retaliation for HER damaging my fabric.
I am chatting with etsy right now. I’ll keep you posted. Thanks Jay
My personal experiences with Walmart online have been less than impressive. I can’t imagine I’m the only one.
I once ordered 10 yds of fabric. Received 10 yards-of the wrong fabric. Two days later, received another 10 yards. Of the wrong fabric. Called Walmart. Was told to keep it. Okay…a week later received the correct  fabric. The next day another shipment of the correct fabric. All told, I received 40 yards for the price of 10. Fast forward, June 25, 2020 I placed an order on Walmart.com. Canceled it within 24 hours online. A day later I chatted with Walmart, just wanting to make sure the order was canceled, as I had a bad feeling. I was assured it was canceled.  Still did not have a good feeling. Chatted another 2-3 days later, just to make sure. Was again assured it was definitely canceled. Still not convinced, I called Walmart about 2-3 days again. The agent stated that she would call the shipper to have them hold the package. All told, I received the package. sigh.
I won’t even get into receiving my refund, but it was worse than trying to get the order canceled. The only reason I finally received the refund when I did, was because I had to threaten to file a complaint with the Attorney General’s consumer fraud department. The money was in my account 3 days later (August 21-2 months later), 1 day ahead of my threatened “If I don’t have my money in my account by…” date. Â I digress.
Jay and Ryanne, always look forward to the podcasts! Â I’m always so sad when they are in the 40 minute range. You should have seen my face when you said “This podcast is ending in 3,2,1..” I was caught off guard!
Anyhow, I’m not a coffee drinker anymore, but I kinda wish I was. I always do like the smell of coffee though. If you two ever come back to Chicago, you will have to try the place in my neighborhood. Supposedly it’s a world class coffee roaster/house, thingy. I can’t vouch for it, haven’t tried it. Â They roast the coffee in another location, a block away.
retrotreasures, I have always loved Halloween. As such, I look at Halloween all year long. I don’t see a “cutoff” date. Also, I specialize in selling Halloween/Day of the Dead fabrics on etsy-so there’s that. Â I was really happy to see that all of retail jumped onboard early this year to merchandise Halloween! August, if you think about it, is not too early. I’m hoping since trick-or-treating will be limited this year (or at least I suspect), that folks will do up more than usual. There are some “usual suspects” in my neighborhood who go all out decorating their front lawns (very limited space in my neighborhood) creatively. I always look forward to that.
