https://www.ebay.com/itm/235035251276 I think this might be the first handbag I sold. Buyer was a nice gal from NYC who also loves Orla Kiely prints. I paid a buck at a school rummage sale.
@VT thanks!
just 2 listings for me. I need to kick into gear today.
I’ve done very well with UK and Danish cross stitch kits $80-100+. Also some USA Christmas kits can be worth a lot and Dimensions Gold Collection. I haven’t really tried pattern books. These are still pretty overlooked in my area at this point.
I also save completed canvas works on occasion if they are French or good subject matter. Once in a while I’ll even remove them from a frame.
I learned about these from ThePaperCastle rummage saler on Youtube. Even the newer ones have a bar code and are easy to list and ship. However, the newer or boring vintage ones seem to be moving more slowly for me in the past year or so.
Eight bucks is actually fine if it’s a nice European kit. These were only worth $15-18 on Ebay. I like the pricer who did $6 for a huge bag. Keep that guy!
Thanks Jay. I’m so grateful to 2 year Terapeak access. That was such a great improvement Ebay made. Only one of this design sold and the other designs were much lower.
Starbucks started their fall drink menu yesterday. That’s about the time I started having good sales. Christmas is selling for me. https://www.starbucks.com/menu/product/2123563/hot?msclkid=3f16ab92cb731ec6a45ccf7a3e6604cf This is my fav. Maybe Broad Porch has a similar one? I need to learn how to make it at home.

Number of items listed this week: 0Had a nice sale this week of the sculpture. I hope it doesn’t get returned. Buyer wanted it faster than the label they paid for as a gift, then neglected to answer email before I sent it out. I spotted it up on a high shelf at a rummage sale and paid $3. Always look high and low.
I’m pretty excited because everyone is settled into school and between now and early December is usually a good sales period for me on Ebay. One thrift pulled the trigger early on Halloween and I missed it being put out. The others usually shoot for September first I think. I always enjoy thrifting the Halloween and Christmas decor they hold back all year. It’s fun to scavenge away from home, but I realize how good I have it here. Many items to list in the piles of course. All it takes is a few good small hauls to get me away from piles progress. However, this year I really feel like I’m capable and have the time to throw these hauls into the pipeline. I also keep getting better and better at leaving unworthy items behind.
To my knowledge, there is no youth run on Kirkland clothes happening here yet. That’s funny. What a great sale for you guys.
Right before I went away on my last trip I found two large bags of needlework kits for $6 apiece. I opened them on my return yesterday and many are good subject matter and almost all are sealed and 70s vintage. 66 kits in all for 19 cents a kit. The same local thrift chain store has others priced individually in the same bin for $8-10 a kit. Obviously different workers are pricing and I got someone lazy that day, probably a dude filling in for the lady pricers. Hurray!
I’ll be zero until next week when I get back.
https://www.ebay.com/itm/334964480595 Anthro for the win. Got these at my prior scavenge of the week yard sale with a bundle deal. I went late to that sale and it made me think I really should go to garage sales sometimes. But I think the last time I spent the morning doing it, they were not good and I only bought storage containers. Hit and miss I guess.
It’s probably difficult with the specialty equipment and materials needed to do yourself. Probably you don’t have the time. But yeah, framing is costly for sure. Do you ever pick up frames hoping to find a mate?
I sold 5 items after returning for a net of $133. Leaving again to help my son move into his first college apartment shortly but I’m really looking forward to ramping up on Ebay since my daughter will be back in school next week. I have a lot of linens to list when I get back in particular. Not my favorite thing to list. I’m at 846 items and I have a goal to make it to 1000 by the end of the year.
@Antique Frog those are very cool. I feel like West German pottery is underrated for some reason. I found this site last time I was trying to find a maker and another one I can’t find again today. https://www.wikiwand.com/en/West_German_Art_Pottery
I decided to leave my store off while I went on vacation.
R&J enjoyed seeing the before and after pics of your new rental. I’m always super curious about the art you select for the walls and impressed with how it all comes together each time. It’s fun to see modern and used blending so well. Like the others I love the coffee table and the great room woodwork is gorgeous! Hope you’ve been having a good Airbnb season overall.
@Retro my teen daughter also lost interest in photographing for me for the time being. 🙂
I did some minimal scavenging in Australia. Most of the thrift shops in Sydney are heavy on clothing, very little hard goods. They seem to be big on American brands and I don’t really like looking through clothes. While we were up in the Blue Mountains area, I did find some fun thrift shops and bought the above West German vintage art deco vase (not my listing).
Then, on returning home, my daughter’s high school football team was having a rummage sale. Having jet lag I got there late and ended up making a bundle deal for new sample Hoka clothing – 11 items for $30. Some are extra smalls and will move slowly I’m sure, but I thought I would try it out and help them out.
