My sales were better than I thought. Gross $735 / net 396. Busy outside of ebay and I turned in my taxes…except COGS. I have not been listing at all on Ebay for like 3 weeks now. Listed some things on Facebook Marketplace. Getting ready for a big live sale. Got rid of the clothing and now I’m sorting all of the art work, frames, and unframed pieces. I looked up some artists and values.
I’ll be very happy when this market is over on Sunday. I was happy to be accepted but it’s a little stressful. It is making me tackle my hoard. I’m proud to say I have not been sourcing since shortly after I got back and blew off a bunch of sales on Friday and Sat. Just the flea last week and this Thursday and it was mostly booth display stuff. I’d really like to get my outflow a lot higher than my inflow and haven’t been good about that so far this year. There is a lot here and doing my taxes made me realize I’d like better cash flow.
Glad you did well with March Madness and ladies cards @Craig. I posted my Boston haul. Not much shopping since I’ve been home but going back to the flea tomorrow and I can’t wait.
https://www.ebay.com/itm/235819215589 This was one of those estate sales where I went late. I personally like this kind of pastel 50s kitchenware very much but it hasn’t overall done well for me. However, I got a great price for these eventually. China can be an awfully slow seller but then again the Denby got scooped up really quickly.
https://www.ebay.com/itm/235867827626 This was an oddball purchase. I posted the other bear I sold. Should have bought them all for $15-20 apiece. I hope to get my hoard down enough so that I can pop on a good grouping like this was instead of worrying about where I’m going to put it and feeling guilty.
https://www.ebay.com/itm/335799043079 Never heard of this brand but I could tell it was quality. An unwanted Christmas gift at Goodwill. Paid $12.99Thanks @VL. Pricing is definitely an art. I’m definitely considering those same things but often don’t take the time to look on eBay first.
Right now I’m a bit more interested in having a successful market day than getting top dollar. Very much interested in moving larger pieces out. Last time some younger people did not move on things maybe because of price (2 left and came back) but I did have a couple of brick and mortar dealers scoop up multiple things, which I’m totally ok with. So maybe I’m sort of on the lower end but it’s also fun to share the finds.
I’d like to see if people would pose with their choices for my Instagram but it’s not really my style to ask that of them. I hate having my picture taken. Maybe if they are really chatty and excited I will. The clothing sellers do that all the time.
Sales while in vacation mode were 334 gross /273 net. Definitely slow for me for this time period, but I wasn’t able to list much the week before I left. Hopefully will pick up this week when I start listing again.
Yes definitely slow for me and I’m hearing others. There is a lot of uncertainty with the economy of course. But I also have not been listing. I will probably up my sale percentage. Times like this I miss the SL podcast.
Zeros for me last two weeks. I’m just trying to get my orders out.
@VL hope you have a great market.
@Retro for some reason Google maps doesn’t do a good job with finding outlets. I went on the local goodwill site, which was quite in needing of updating, to find the outlet location in Boston. I have also found that Google doesn’t always distinguish between donation centers and stores.

My cute little Boston vacation hall. Boston was awesome. Goodwill prices were lower than here but not really cheap. The Goodwill bins we only got to at the end of the day and a lot of this came from there. It was a small one and not crowded but I got an arm workout with their super deep bins full of large junky items. Not pictured is a few vintage rosewood frames I picked up. I tagged the sailor painting on imgur and it turns out it’s a listed artist. https://imgur.com/gallery/rescued-from-boston-goodwill-bins-4Tz5mqc You can see people’s comments here – they had fun with it.
Someone mentioned this site devoted to bad art – so funny https://museumofbadart.org/collections/
Gross sales were $420; net $270. Sales poor week before and during vacation. I just turned my store back on yesterday but haven’t listed yet.
@thanks everyone. Sharon we have amazing picking here for sure. If I let myself go to more estate sales the quality will just go up. Alas, have much accumulated inventory to get through.
its a bit hard to price for shows, especially art. VL do you use a fraction of eBay solds ? People are buying on impulse and my buyers are younger where I normally sell. Not sure the customer base for this next event but I’m hoping there are LA people there as they are used to paying up.

we made it to the goodwill bins in Boston. Had just 30 minutes before closing but it was a small bins location. Delighted to rescue this guy. He has some damage and his head is kind of floating off the shoulders but the face is nicely done. Found a Wedgewood creamer and small leather bag. I found a valuable but heavy antique German lobster serving dish that was an almost. So fun.
We will go back another time, but earlier in the day. Interestingly, their bins are priced per item based on type and not by the pound. We paid about $1 per item.
Hi all. I’m so sorry about the hard things some of you are going through. Take good care of yourselves.
I’m on vacation and it was a crazy week before I left. I haven’t really listed much in a couple weeks and it’s been a horrible month of sales.
The pop up booth was worth it. It will be quarterly and was well attended with a lot of foot traffic. I didn’t feel well prepared but I’m getting the hang of it and didn’t pack as much unnecessary stuff. https://www.instagram.com/p/C4HMKM9vDjF/?igsh=NTc4MTIwNjQ2YQ==
After posting this reel I was accepted to a new fancy market 4/12. https://www.instagram.com/reel/DE8T-3FS_jq/?igsh=NTc4MTIwNjQ2YQ==
I’m quite nervous that I bit off a little more than I can chew. My goal is to get rid of some larger art and hopefully some decor at this one. It’s nice because I get to set up the day before BUT my husband will be working and I’ll have to rent a van. Plus it was fairly expensive. Since I don’t have furniture to sell I hope it’s profitable. I’ve never been to this one, it’s only 2x a year and 45 minutes away. But people seem to enjoy art and I can swing farmhouse with some of my decor. I have a lot of prep and organizing to do, plus my COGS for taxes.
@VL what have I done!? Feel free to share advice. Also I gave up on cute hanging stamped price tags and started using stickers. It’s a lot faster. It’s nice after set up they host a farm to table dinner for the vendors to network.
<p style=”text-align: left;”>On vacation in Boston this week. My daughter was thrilled with the college area Goodwill selection of smaller sized clothing. The thrift prices are as much as half off where we live in California. Gas is $1.50 less as well. Will go grocery shopping today before checking into our Airbnb so we will see how those prices are… Today we are going to the bins but will have to be quite selective as I didn’t bring shipping supplies. Seeing a lot more Americana / transferware than I am used to. Always fun to pick a new city.</p>
I haven’t been consistently listing either but I did start working my taxes.
I sold both sets of Denby plates I talked about in the scavenge of the week posts, so that didn’t take long.
Best sale was this painting, and it’s been listed a while. Buyer was quite a haggler. https://www.ebay.com/itm/235819204348
