Ananda’s Mercantile. She’s also a Virginia realtor.
I made a boo boo and bought two large faux candle lanterns (modern) for an upcoming night market. On one the springs came out with the battery. Is that hard to fix? TY
I didn’t feel like going to the Flea last week but was so happy I did – got a Vera Neumann scarf for $1 and a signed David Weidman serigraph for $25.
Hi everyone, I agree that I would certainly miss the forums. I’ve been super busy outside of Ebay but I love checking in somewhere with smart and friendly sellers. I sorely miss hearing from R&J and guys – I hope you are doing very well. Too bad I was not getting serious on Ebay while the podcast was still going. I listen to a few now but they pale in comparison to the analysis and relatability of SL. So grateful for the free education on Youtube and from the Podcast.
I’m into the forums for the long haul, however long that lasts. If still around I’ll report on my trip to the Ebay open in August. For me it’s mostly about the wait for affordable and accurate time saving listing from photos. Listing is the part where I fall down. I will stop by the List Perfectly booth but my hope is that Ebay will fix their poor beta version ASAP. At $100/mo for LP+ I can’t do it since I’ve been so inconsistent. I’m not as interested in cross-posting either, though I hear Poshmark is still going fairly strong.
Steve: happy retirement!
BTW, I’ve been thinking of getting a spot in a brick and mortar by next year. This talented gal in Virginia is very inspirational. Though it is a bit more country than I would do here, she’s really great at blocking and styling. I’ve been watching a lot of her videos. She’s at the Factory Antique Mall in Verona Virginia in case you have time to go by there on your travels.
Ebay frequently runs these experiments overseas. I think the sellers will not like it and US sellers are more vocal and chances are they won’t roll it out here. They probably are taking some notes as well on the trouble changes at Poshmark and Mercari. This one is a bit sneakier, but I still think big sellers would object.
I am careful about my PL settings because I have heard they will pound you for stepping out and it lasts a while.
Hi everyone. I finally got back to listing last week with a couple. A lot of life going on and big kids transitioning. I have a pop up market this weekend and a few scheduled for summer and October will round out my live season.
I have been seeing a lot of old friends and celebrating with family. Also helping a family member through some struggles.
Ebay hasn’t been rewarding me with many sales. Happy to get back on the bandwagon. I have been sourcing too but have missed many of my favorite rummage sales.
@VL congrats on the donating. I did a lot of reflection and some purging last year. Also got rid of some stuff and dug deep for the successful farm sale. There is yet another layer of unlisted, undeserving stuff. I’m thinking of having a garage sale with the objective of getting back some of my money on this old stuff. I also have been using Facebook Marketplace a bit more. I have a few items from my grandmother’s house that I plan to put on there – they have been stored for years where I could be putting some nice, listed inventory. A lot of work to be done here.
I decided to go it’ll only be like 120° out 😎. I need to book today because Southwest is starting to charge for bags tomorrow. I don’t gamble since the cost of it went up in the late 80s. A close friend may join me and work while I’m at open events. Pretty cheap and I never have any good wrote offs, so very cool.
Sales have been poor. I’ve been on vacation mode twice and haven’t listed for 6 weeks. I have the store back on and running a sale so things are picking up. Should be able to list by this weekend.
I’ve been thinking a lot on the amount of stuff management I’m doing and the old low end stuff I have around. The live sales create their own clutter. May do a little more Facebook Marketplace and move some things out.
Hello! I finally am back in town and going to the flea today.
Weekend before last my friend’s husband bowed out of a Beyonce concert in Los Angles and near their house was a cool estate sale. The daughter had kept the mother’s Midcentury art priced too high to flip but it was super fun to look at. Crazy packed house with an ocean view. We both picked up a lot of cleaning products and I got some large seashells, small figurines, etc. Picked up two originals by another artist. https://images.search.yahoo.com/yhs/search;_ylt=Awr90o0XMy9oUKIvSlk2nIlQ;_ylu=c2VjA3NlYXJjaARzbGsDYnV0dG9u;_ylc=X1MDMTM1MTE5NTcwMgRfcgMyBGZyA3locy10cnAtMDA1BGZyMgNwOnMsdjppLG06c2ItdG9wBGdwcmlkA3VjczlILjlHUW5PMHc0dlB5VXdaQkEEbl9yc2x0AzAEbl9zdWdnAzEEb3JpZ2luA2ltYWdlcy5zZWFyY2gueWFob28uY29tBHBvcwMwBHBxc3RyAwRwcXN0cmwDMARxc3RybAMyNgRxdWVyeQNlYmElMjBrb2xvc3ZhcnklMjBzY3JlZW5wcmludHMEdF9zdG1wAzE3NDc5MjM3Mzk-?p=eba+kolosvary+screenprints&fr=yhs-trp-005&fr2=p%3As%2Cv%3Ai%2Cm%3Asb-top&ei=UTF-8&x=wrt&type=Y149_F163_202167_081020&hsimp=yhs-005&hspart=trp#id=1&iurl=https%3A%2F%2Fmir-s3-cdn-cf.behance.net%2Fproject_modules%2Ffs%2F414cef9874589.560dba4cc44d5.jpg&action=close
She had three cool backyard fountains but it would have been a PITA to get them home. My goal is to find one used, as they run about $500+ new
Hello there. I’ve been all over the place and doing anything but listing on Ebay.
I plan to list hard this Memorial Day weekend but my husband wants to get my college son’s car back in the garage so tons of work to do there. Ugh.
Reminder to bargain hunters that now is the time to shop Memorial Day sales with most retailers for the best selection.
Sales $416/net $279. I haven’t listed in a month. The next two weeks will be busy with non Ebay and trying to make some sense of the garage storage and inventory. I hope to get some listings in as well. Ebay is the angry mistress giving me a smack down. I also have a pop up on Mothers Day in a pretty good location.
Had a last visit to the flea market before it closes for the fair for a few weeks. Didn’t buy a whole lot but had a good time. I went thrifting and was good and passed on some items priced way to high. (that store doesn’t run sales.) There is a funkier religious store that is very hit and miss. They give you dollars to spend on the next Tuesday and the ladies think I’m 65 (ouch) so they give me the senior discount too. I got some Denby plates and another set of china plates deeply discounted, plus some brass candlesticks. I need to get listing pronto.
For whatever reason, my sales are pretty much all RA while I haven’t been listing. Some are mother’s day gifts.
Zeros for me. Hope to get back at the computer this week before guests arrive. Sending healing thoughts for your husband VT.
Ebay sales: 756 gross, $512 net. Did not feel even that good.
No listing for 3 weeks + now.
Did a big live sale at a farm just down the coast and inland bit: https://www.instagram.com/reel/DIcKmXLT5tr/ I was a little bit intimidated but did really great @ $1900 gross. Got rid of a lot of hard to ship Pyrex and Fire King, some country related stuff, some family crocheted items, lots of smalls, etc. Things that don’t sell well at my urban markets where I live. People really came to BUY, rather than just casually browsing. It was awesome but taxing. I’m kind of reflecting on what kind of items I want to sell as a curated shop. I follow a couple of Youtube people that have me thinking of an aesthetic. One thing I like about pop ups is that everyone has a bit of a different take on vintage. https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCRgucPJ_Gc-Go0l868WCcAw https://www.youtube.com/@leftcoastrevivals and the rest of the Portland crowd. The antique booths are so expensive and hard to get into here, but someday it would be really fun to do a curated booth and not have to move around.
Have company this coming Thursday and a lot of reorganizing to do, but hope to get in some listing. It’s interesting that generally only my new and similar two categories of items are selling the last two weeks.
From my Facebook groups it seems like others are slow. Uncertainty really isn’t helpful for sales.
From the podcasts, I hear that the “Ebay Magical Listing Tool” (in beta) sucks and doesn’t work well or save any time. Ebay once again is lagging behind it’s competition in programming. There is talk of Mercari having a photo-to-listing tool in a better working order but I haven’t tried that. Just when I think I’ll bail Mercari, I remember how fast the listing is. If they have photo based listing first, I will at least be throwing my low dollar items on there. Right now I just want to get some listings up but I think I may move some low dollar off Ebay intstead of crossposting. I’m at 900 listings or so now.
