6/29/2025 to 7/5/2025
Total listings: 309
New listings this week: 23
Items sold: 25 — 9 via best offer, 4 via seller initiated offer, 5 via advertising
Gross sales: $928.02
Net sales: $632.20
Average sales price: $37.12
High sale of the week: $35.47 net Ryne Sandberg 1993 Hostess Beckett certified autograph
Every single item I sold was under $50 total, but I sold just enough to make it a solid week, especially for the summer. 90% of my solds were my 10 card team lots and I had one buyer who bought 7 over the course of the weekend, 7 different teams and 70 cards. Love that. These outlier weeks are never a good predictor of anything, but it’s always fun to look at the numbers.

That’s a good summer week @Craig congrats.
Total listings: 309
New listings this week: 23
Items sold: 11
Gross sales: $615
Net sales: $374
Average sales price: $51
High sale of the week: $196 (two vintage Thai silk pillows)
COGS: $66
Sales were ok for this time of year. I had three items at a really great profit. Otherwise, I had to mark things way down.
It was probably my worst week morale wise on Ebay due to the two INADs coming back to back. I also am still trying to remove the first buyer’s feedback, which is ALL CAPs crazy as predicted. I’m going to shoot for this rule: “Personal attacks that could harm the reputation of the seller or their business and could not reasonably be viewed as constructive criticism”. My removal request was declined immediately buy the buyer – good because she has 10 days – and then auto-declined by Ebay.
Today I called and the person put me through to escalation team (would not help because it was the $2000 and over team) but nice because that person made sure the notes would show and requested a callback for me. The first person transferred me immediately, which was awesome. Earlier the AI bot answering the phone hung up on me while I kept repeating call back and agent. Lovely.

@Christine, AI “customer service” makes off-shore customer service reps look like friendly employees from a small mom-and-pop shop. And just think…we’re only going to see more of AI’s influence in the coming years. Wonderful!
Thinking about it less cynically, probably means eBay selling ain’t going anywhere. I’ve been going out of my way lately to trade messages with repeat buyers. Chit chat about their purchases, ask them what they collect, talk about the sports news of the day. It felt weird at first…message buyers? Gross. But I like it now. I don’t initiate. But if someone messages me about anything, I take an extra minute or two to write a real, genuine reply. I think it’s more likely that I’m selling things because I’ve been listing very consistently, and sending out 25% offers instead of 20%, but your post reminded me how rare it’s become to have a real digital conversation anymore. How sad.
I don’t think anyone pays attention to ALL CAPS feedback at all, we’ve all had interactions with someone like that who was also not all there. However, I get fighting for principles. I hope you get it removed.

Thanks Craig. I have been trying to contact Ebay daily. If you call the number about a selling problem, the AI will hang up on you. On the app if you want a call back regarding a defect it says that phone assistance is unavailable for that – what? I googled how to get a call back and got another (older?) page where I could request one. The rep tried to tell me that was a back end department and I couldn’t ask for a call back. I just told him I talked to them last week, so then we laughed together and he supposedly will have them call me today?
Meanwhile. I got some email from Ebay customerhelp@ebay.com. One said she would remove the defect from my angry buyer case (but it’s still there). Rest of the responses were nonsensical or not what I was asking for. 100% trying to get you to just resort back to the useless website loop. I read on the Ebay community threads that supposedly if you successfully complain 3 times they will cooperate. We’ll see. I also posted on their Facebook page but no response.
Re INAD #2 (the extreme zoom) no action by Ebay whatsoever, should be getting the item back today or tomorrow.

After a lot of wasted attempts, today I was able to get feedback removed. The buyer had said she knew how to work the system and that was the reason the agent said she would do it. I was going in on the feedback content but whatever. Ebay sent an email saying there was no defect in the first place so it was removed for that reason. Whatever the reason, I’m grateful. I also got a response on the Ebay Facebook page.
Here’s what I learned:
Request a call back from Ebay; immediately ask for a supervisor. The agents get dinged for having to escalate it, so they will handle your request in all manner of ways – lying, saying they will have one call you back later, say you can’t talk to them, or in today’s case actually fix the problem. The regular agent was able to remove my feedback. The accent was different today so maybe that was the difference. So it’s as it always was, just keep asking for a call until you get someone good. I think these days that just takes a lot longer. Also the social media person was somewhat helpful.
I also learned that once a buyer does an INAD, there is no way you are not paying for both shipping labels. If you are top rated, they will pay you maybe $6. You only have the power to report the buyer. Also, the agent today told me don’t report the buyer until you get the item back – but also in the window before you refund and the case gets closed out. She also said make sure you do it from the orders page. True? idk, but I made reports earlier in the process that disappeared. She started a report for me on the bad feedback buyer internally today.
Also learned during this process that email – both from concierge and help addresses are worthless and probably AI driven.

I thought I would trying writing a little something later today to see if that would stimulate a little more discussion over the weekend. This isn’t about my numbers exactly, but like most topics, it circles back to the eventually.
This week, I have been thinking a lot about my shipping supplies. Probably because I took some unused USPS priority boxes to the post office yesterday, after taking a bigger pile last week with the permission of my favorite postal clerk. Some of those boxes had been sitting on my shelves “just in case” for a few years! I know this for a fact because there were some regional A boxes in there. The post office doesn’t even make those anymore! Not great use of my available space. But I’m working through it. That’s all you can do sometimes when you do this full-time. There is always something more to do, but you have to live your life, too.
Part of living my life right now is tied into thinking differently about my space. I have had the same cheap shelves for years, mostly because I live in an apartment. I’m less inclined to buy something permanent because this isn’t my home. But I’ve realized I want to redecorate a little bit, because (at least for now) this is my home.
My current project is clearing off a corner shelf and finding a home for everything. It’s too easy for anyone who sells online to get used to piles and boxes on the floor, “what to do with this” bins and boxes, the previously mentioned just-in-case shelf (shelves?). I’ve started thinking about it like this: the mess is costing me money. And why can’t I be as creative with my space as I am with my reselling business?
