Looks neat! I have been timing myself lately rather informally. Here is my packing timing for today:
Started at 7:00am
I spent 1.5 hours (90 min) packing 13 items today or 6 minutes per item. WAY too long but I am able to pinpoint some issues. I did have some bulkies/hard to packs but honestly the problems were all related to my inefficient work space, mess, and an ongoing DYMO issue I have yet to fix so I had to convert to my ink jet mid- process.Another 15 minutes to USPS only to come back home to re-pack an item they rejected (recycled generic box was showing Priority Tape here and there and this was first class…). So back home to do that plus now headed out to pack a Fed Ex for a bulky mail-out and go BACK to usps to drop reject package. The whole rigamarole took 45 minutes as I couldn’t find a new box etc etc.
It is now 11:15 and I am feeling like WTF is my time going!
12/12/2018 at 7:40 am in reply to: No eBay listings at all show up in Google search sponsored results? #53159You are correct! This is one reason I cross post to Google happy Poshmark and Mercari.
I typed in “Vintage Nirvana Tee Shirt” – something ebay should be #1 or at least visible in.
NOPE, all Etsy and Poshmark listings. I finally found 1 ebay listing.
The funnh part is google telling all ebay sellers “use white backgrounds, here is the order of keywords” OK, FINE. But uh – all the listings that are showing up not all meeting your standards so……..?Let it go but dont re-list then. I got a VERO for a “Ringer” tee shirt – you know, the ones with the collar and sleeves in a “ring” – kind of vintage looking. Some company called Ringer claimed a VERO on me. I was FURIOUS and ebay would not budge.
List on Posh, Mercari or FB marketplace.12/11/2018 at 9:03 pm in reply to: Simplified Returns INAD – Obtaining Customer "Admissions" in Messages #53146Please update us with what they say! What a mess. Annoying.
I have had more than a few people in their 30s say “I didn’t know ebay was still a thing!” Meanwhile, they happily shop on etsy and amazon. But, I get it – you go to ebay main page and it looks like… I don’t even know a bunch of stock photos. Very uninspired or even pleasing to navigate.
I was laid off in summer, and have been looking for a FT job while also doing ebay. I would like to add another non – ebay steady income stream while I bridge continue to ramp up to my weekly financial goal.
I am making more on ebay in 2018 but I also have 4X listings as I did in 2017, so the data isn’t solid Year over Year for me. plus I was very bad at record keeping.
I was not doing Posh last Fall, so this is new.Oof, a bit low this week:
Items in store: 1020
ebay Sold: 29
Sales: $847
COGS:$60Lost about $20 in shipping this week overall b/c of being in a hurry and having to use bad boxes and super heavy dishes. Oh well.
adding Poshmark gives me anywhere from “extra” $500-600/month. (350 listings). Google loves Poshmark, too. So, about $20 per day let’s say. The amount of time I spend on posh / day is about 30 minutes, so the ROI is so-so.
If I expand to another platform it will be etsy for hardgoods and linens.I am stopping buying biederlacks, afghans all together. I have a tower of them, they take up so much room, and have then priced super low with discounted shipping and I cannot move any of them. I am thinking if they don’t sell by Feb I am going to post them locally as a bundle and be done with it. In fact, I may do that now.
Pirate Ship is the best for cubic! I save money daily sending bulkies (esp soft bulkies like coats) to the coasts.
For International – you need to chat/ email them and ask to have First Class Export added to your account. it’ super easy. And then you get really great rates under 4lbs. I sent a dish to france $14.99.
It is via USPS only, not Fed Ex. Syncs into ebay for tracking. It’s free to use, works w/ Dymo.
it does NOT take PayPal so you need to pay w/ another card.I had a automatic return for fit and “didnt like it” this month. I do NOT have Free Returns on, so looks like it doesn’t matter either way. When I get the item back I refund them the purchase price not ship.
However, most of this crap under $15 I don’t want back. Annoying! If I had a zillion wheelchairs, I would be renting them. Seriously! As a former event producer, I have had to procure many wheelchairs as hotels/halls/event spaces never have enough and it’s only for emergencies. I always get an extra one (not electric). I Paid $50-$100 per day for it, they get stolen very often, too. People need them for minor injuries that insurance won’t cover. etc etc. for just a few weeks.
That would be my side hustle within the side hustle. 🙂I don’t chat up other (what I assume to be) are resellers. The employees at my regular places know me and we always quick visit.
TBH, we underestimate the amount of hoarders and shopping regulars. Most of the reseller regulars I see have booths, and dont sell online from what I can tell. Maybe FB marketplace or flea markets.
If someone is scanning, I know they are selling. I have noticed an uptick in women shopping womens section, assuming more Poshers.I have been selling about 2 items / week on Depop. It’s a great place to unload cheap tee shirts, quirky fashion for low prices, and trending stuff (doc martens, etc). They have a “home” section too – so good for decor. I’ve sold a tapestry and pillow sham!
Poshmark just added a “Makeup” market. For those of you doing makeup, it may be beneficial to cross post select makeup/skincare to Posh (no perfume since no ground).t-Statt – Stay the course w/ mens on poshmark, it is a nice category with less competition. The dudes are coming slowly. Lots of younger college guys shop on it and wives for husbands, moms for sons. I have noticed. I think after holidays, people will have cash and will spend it!
