Jay, I love that subreddit. I’ve always been obsessed with mlm scams, and I see tons of people get wrapped up in them, and yes, many from my small hometown. I’ve even seen people who have seemingly great jobs like a pharmacist get into it. It’s nuts. I’m not sure how some very educated people don’t see what they really are.
Here is my October sales for the month, really only had one big sale and it was a plush toy, lol. Everything else was pretty much $50 and under:
LOL at packaging Etsy items all cute. I package them just like an ebay package- wrap it up in bubble wrap and throw it in a poly/box. And even the packaging usually says Ebay on it. I typically try to add Thank You notes but I do that for Ebay as well, and I got free thank you notes from Ebay. Anyone else get those with your coupon? I’ve never had a single Etsy person complain about the fact that I didn’t fancy the package up.
LOVE that Christmas candle. Apparently that color pink is in this Christmas.

Sales have definitely picked up a bunch compared to last month, and I’m almost up to where I usually am. Doing a lot of cross posting to Etsy and it’s finally paying off. I still have a ton to list before Q4, so I’m gonna try to hit that hard in the next couple days.
Thanks for the report Troy. Maybe one year I’ll make it to Vegas if they continue to do Open.
Sales have been super slow, and the things that have been selling are low end items. Most interesting sale was a cookie cutter in the shape of a duck that I picked from the curb that looked antique for $15. Good news is that I’m up to over 140 listings. I hung around between 100-120 forever, mostly because when I would list, some would sell. But it’s been so slow I actually haven’t had that issue, lol. I do think that part of it is that I’m gearing up for Q4 by picking a lot of vintage Halloween and Christmas, especially Halloween. And while those items are getting a lot of interest, they aren’t exactly hot sellers in the summer. It’ll probably be the same for most of August.
I’m freaking out… can y’all PLEASE show a pic of the Ouija board?? I just want to see the design. I’m currently looking everywhere for vintage Halloween (blow molds, Beistle, etc.) and that’s one of the things I look for. The people around here do not value vintage Halloween at all so they practically give it away, but ouija boards are one thing that’s a little harder to get find. I suspect it may be the area that I live in, they get weirded out by them.
A note on auctions, I went to my first antique/vintage auction, and it was one of the weirdest things that I’ve witnessed in a while. The lady running it eventually started running around this cramped room full of stuff SCREAMING at us about what we wanted to bid on. She kept saying, “I don’t know what you want to bid on if you don’t tell me”. And then sometimes she would refuse to let things go for a low price. She would occasionally leave the room and the auctioneer would say, “Well, since she’s gone maybe we can actually sell stuff.” Then there was a lady in the front who was super weird and would win a bid on stuff and then try to get random free stuff with it. Fun people watching for sure.
Those Poinsettia tissue boxes are so pretty! Reminds me of stuff I like to look out for.

Hey Jay! I completely admit I have nothing to show other than the occasional observance, and I certainly didn’t mean to call you guys out for NOT doing Etsy or that everyone should jump ship from ebay. I’m using Etsy as a an extra platform that might get stuff sold, sorta like how Bonanza was for you guys. I only have 16 listings on Etsy vs. Ebay’s 125-130 atm. As I add more and more to Etsy I hope I continue to find that Etsy items are selling for more and quicker than Ebay, since they’re cross posted.
Just a couple more thoughts about Etsy, I love that you can easily see stats about what search terms people are using to find your items, and what other items they are looking for. Is this even a thing at Ebay? Even if it is, it’s not easily viewable from the app. It gives me ideas about what other items I can be listing to get people’s attention. Not to mention it gives you other stats about where people are coming from when they find your items. Stuff like that is really fun and interesting to look at.
