Hi Jay and Ryanne, funny you should mention estate sales, just went to two yesterday for their half off sales. Didn’t find anything mindblowing, but there were a few minor cool finds including a small piece of orange Descoware.
So I’m in my new place (me and the husband decided on another one bedroom), it’s a tiny bit bigger 800sq ft compared to 640. Biggest issue is organization right now, my inventory is kind of everywhere and I never feel like fixing it. Other issue is I ordered a new phone, the Pixel 3a, when I lost my iphone SE. Unfortunately it’s backordered indefinitely and my backup phone is not only badly cracked, but takes HORRIBLE photos. I’m super excited about using the Pixel since the camera is supposed to be so good.Anyway, hope sales get better for you guys and that my phone comes in within the week!
So I assumed with Poshmark that the shipping is cheap and it’s subsidized with the extra money in fees you pay them. It’s 20% so couldn’t that technically go towards shipping on the backend?
Speaking of frugal, I know you guys are fans of Ting. However I found that Mint Mobile would be even cheaper and you don’t have to be a data miser. 3GB for $15/month. That’s a pretty amazing deal compared to the $40 for the same amount of data on my current plan, Straight Talk. Mint uses the T-Mobile network. I recently lost my phone so I’m doing a lot of phone and plan comparisons. Just wondered if you had already looked into it.

Or have you had a bad experience doing it? I’ve been very pleased with my international orders since I’ve stopped doing GSP. I’ve even shipped to countries where people said was sketchy postal wise, and no issues.

Yeah after Dale died I thought it strange how I sold one of his CD’s only a couple of months ago. Thanks for letting me know about the Iranian photos! I had no idea there was a ban on stuff from Iran. No wonder I didn’t see much else on Ebay from Iran.

I watch resellers quite a bit at work and while I’m doing ebay. I saw that long hangout, and while I wouldn’t want to rewatch, I get why they do them. While some people may want to develop the persona thing, I think some genuinely want some social interaction, which I totally get. I get super bored sometimes just listing. Sometimes I think it’s fun to listen to live resellers and be able to chat to them while I’m doing ebay work. To each their own though!
Hi guys, I love that you revisited your manifesto. What’s funny is that I’ve never been close to 500 items (part timer). My highest at any given point was 164 which I did last summer and a bunch of stuff sold in Q4. I’m super impressed at part timers that bring in 1k or more in a single month. I’m now down to 130 items but that’s because I ended up having a garage sale with the rest of the neighborhood and sold some slow moving items as well as some personal items. I’m still in my one bedroom apartment with only a single shallow closet for storage so it was nice to get some space back for some new stuff.
However, this has made my store super slow, and the thrift stores haven’t really given me anything much. For example, I’ve sold 7 items this month. I’m going to try to list as much as possible in the next few weeks as I’ve recently acquired some stuff from a church sale, and I have a few items from the death pile that need to go up. We are supposed to move soonish so I’m hoping on getting more storage. I’ve been wanting to move for over a year now but for all kinds of different reasons it hasn’t happened.
Hi Steve, did the magazines not have ads in them? Just wondering why they were sent media. Magazines are so heavy, I wish I could ship them that way but most of the mags I get aren’t eligible.

01/28/2019 at 11:19 am in reply to: Scavenger Life Episode 396: Guaranteed Delivery? How is that working? #55999Hi guys, interesting podcast as usual. Just some random new year updates; I’m actually having a hard time finding items in my local thrifts that are reasonably priced and I know will sell well. Although I’ve been to several thrifts lately (mostly the one I call the worst Goodwill ever- CONSTANTLY picked through since it’s in a central location to everything) I haven’t been picking much. I can’t wait until garage sales start up, that’s when I can get the most value and the more interesting items. Only thing is, you gotta go out there early and find them, which is the biggest obstacle.
When you talked about sellers being impatient, I thought about how my 67 year old father has gotten into selling on ebay again, and even though he’s sold in the past to make extra money for vacations and extras, I’m pretty shocked at the stuff he doesn’t know. I had to teach him to print shipping online, how to look items up using a smartphone, he’s picking up low dollar items, and everything is free shipping “because that’s the only way people will buy.” He’s also making very low margins on everything and gets impatient when something sits for only a few weeks. I keep trying to tell him that I’ve now had stuff that hasn’t sold after years. Anyway, I try to let him make his own mistakes, but it’s hard to not be frustrated for him.
01/11/2019 at 1:00 am in reply to: Scavenger Life Episode 393: Happy New Year and Returns Happen #54916*Just an update to the non late tracking issue, it looks like ebay removed it as of today, 1/10/19. I never called in about it either. If anyone else is having an issue with this, I’d check your dashboard.
01/06/2019 at 8:22 pm in reply to: Scavenger Life Episode 393: Happy New Year and Returns Happen #54643Hi guys, so glad you had a great vacation, I think the first thing I’ll do if I get to go to New York is look on the streets for stuff. I do it in my neighborhood all the time.
I got one ding for a late item on George Bush’s funeral date. I did NOT want to call eBay so I messaged eBay for Business on FB because I had been told that they can sometimes help with stuff. This was my response:
“Thanks for your patience, Natalie! We’ve received reports that some sellers are still seeing this reflect on their Seller Dashboard and we are working to resolve it quickly.Would you mind providing the full name, email address, and zip code your account is registered under when you have a moment? Everything will be fixed for all sellers in bulk, however I’d like to include your account in our report to ensure that you are taken care of. ~Braden”
Spoiler alert! It’s not fixed.

I thought the hat was “dope” too, Steve.
Here’s my November sales in case anyone has time for a 30 min vid. I actually did do pretty well compared to last year.
11/26/2018 at 3:51 pm in reply to: Scavenger Life Episode 387: Do Black Friday, Small Business Saturday or Cyber Monday Matter? #52303RetroTreasures, just in case you guys were not aware, Paypal won’t let you open an account until you’re 18. I’ve heard horror stories of PP accounts being randomly closed even after a person was of age and the money in PP just disappearing because they opened the account before they were 18.
