Usually you want to have around 3500 items before upgrading to an anchor store.
I just had a case opened for item not received. It was purchased 11/25/17. There is tracking last updated today, indicating it’s within 75 miles of the buyer and still on the way. By the way, it was shipped on time and sent Priority Mail.
I called Ebay and they told me just what you said. There would have to be at least 7 days since the last change in tracking status, before they would consider it lost and issue a refund.
I really don’t understand why a buyer won’t just check the tracking or send me a message before opening a case. People must love to complicate their lives.
I list Smartpost as the default on many of my packages, but have a priority Mail option. If someone lives close, the cost to me to ship Priority is often less or very close to the Smartpost price.
In these cases, I will just ship it Priority Mail. It’s quicker simpler for mean and it’s quicker for the customer. I also don’t have to worry about after the fact rate changes.
Yes, I agree with Ryanne on this one.. keep it simple. Print label, attach label, reweigh go on to next.
When I’m packing items, I stick a note on each box every time with what it is. That way I don’t have to remember what’s in there or reopen it.
I agree, I’m definitely keeping the scale. The other day, I had to mail a 45 lb item and had to use the bathroom scale. It required me to do something I’d been avoiding.. weigh myself. When you’re weight is going down, you run to the scale.. but when it’s going up, you hide the thing.
I’m a happy guy.
If you look at sold beanie babies and then sort by price, it will give you an idea of what it sold for, based on the one above and below it.
Today at a rummage sale I bought a 150 LB capacity Fairbanks digital scale for $10. It works great.. but I’ve already seen what they sell for on Ebay.. I’m tempted to sell it, but I’ll keep it for now. My other scale only goes up to 11 lbs.
If you click on the buyer’s User Id or feedback, it should tell you what country they are from.
You won’t know their shipping address, until the purchase is made. Sometimes people will come here on vacation and buy things. They will change their shipping address to their hotel or other place they are staying.
The salivating comment was copied from another post. It was not exactly accurate or very kind. I apologize if you were offended.
In fairness, you had no idea what the jacket was worth when you cancelled the first sale. It was surely worth more than $60, but at the time, it was an unknown quantity which could have been worth $1000 or a whole lot more. I understand your dilemma. It wasn’t about $1000. It was about who knows how much.
For what it’s worth, I’ve listened to most of the podcasts and been on the website for a long time. It would be disingenuous of me to pretend I haven’t learned a bunch and also profited as a result. I appreciate everything you and Jay do to bring us that information. Thank You.
To many of the newer and younger sellers you two have become role models. People follow your lead… Congratulations (LOL).
It’s all good here.. have a nice holiday.
I also have 2 monitors. My buddy gave me a Windows 7 machine a while back and I used it for a while, but then it started having issues. I took the 27 inch monitor and hooked it up to my laptop.
Sometimes I’ll run a different browser on each screen, so I can be signed in to 2 Ebay accounts at once. This enables me to get a bird’s eye view of my primary store from the other account. In other words, I can see it as my buyers would.
I just downloaded the QuicktextPaste.. Pretty cool for a computer challenged guy like me.
Thanks MEZZ
“But to screw someone because you were salivating for a few extra hundred? Oy. Scary. It’s a little scary.” LAwoman
I have to agree. What’s even more scary is the myriad of justifications, both legal and otherwise, that cancelling the first sale was ok.
Aren’t we at that point lowering ourselves to the level of the unscrupulous buyers?
It’s just a thought…
Everything I have read, indicates the first 4 or 5 words are the most important, but they all count. It is in you best interest to use as many characters in the title line as possible.
They did fully disclose what happened with the denim jacket sale. It’s tough to say what any of us would do if this situation occurred to us. I’d like to think I would take the high road and eat the loss.
The defect and negative feedback will surely be tough to fight. All you have to do is put yourselves in the shoes of the buyer to see that.
Here’s a link to an old forum regarding the same subject. https://www.scavengerlife.com/forums/topic/sold-it-way-too-low-what-would-you-do
I’m curious to see what the majority thinks.
Happy Holidays.
As long as it’s the address that comes up when you print the shipping label and it’s confirmed through Paypal, you should be fine.
For packages going a short distance, Priority Mail is generally less expensive. When you factor in the USPS discounts, it’s even cheaper. You are probably seeing the rates to ship to your own zip code.
Go to one of your active listings and put in different zip codes. This will show you the savings of Smart Post, especially if you live on one of the coasts.
