@Vintage-Lacy – Good choice! I was given a large bunch of ties several years ago. I grouped them up into many listings. I’ve sold one listing a year for the past three years, and not for great money. I did not pay for them, but it was not worth it.
I thought he said he was going to retire, but not that he had retired. I will miss his videos.
Yes, I can’t imagine how the two of them are able to have all these businesses. Ryanne was going to restart her AirBnB podcast. How do they find the time? Personally, I don’t have the energy.
I hope they keep the lights on. It is certainly quiet around here, but there are enough contributors to keep it interesting.
Seems like Steve Shultz is no longer making his eBay sold videos. Or, at least he has slowed way down, so I will start posting here. Since I’m covering a long time, I’ve got a lot to talk about.
Books can be a decent seller for me, but I have to buy large lots, look up each one, and list only the valuable ones. This leather bound dictionary in very good condition came in one of those online lots. Sold for $25.

I like to buy flatware because they are usually easy to figure out and list plus they can get good prices since people are trying to fill in missing pieces. This set was very difficult to figure out since it was not marked with a brand name, but had a logo. The closest thing I could figure out was Food Network. I don’t know if I was right, but someone paid $45. I paid just a few dollars from an online auction lot.

Here’s another dictionary from the same lot (or maybe just the same auction) mentioned above. This one was just very large. It sold for $75.

I went to a pickup for an online auction, and someone had swiped a tool lot that I had won. I got my money back, and the managers offered me several lots of glass that hadn’t sold. I really hate to list glass because it is a slow seller. However, I got out my black light and found all the uranium glass. Here is a salt and pepper set that sold for $28.

When I was helping my neighbor downsize, we found a vintage suitcase that was locked up. We were able to open it up, and some nice vintage clothes were stored there. This vintage Pendleton chore shirt sold for $49.

And here is the suitcase we found it in, sold for $29:

This is my first charity sale. A friend had these antique felt paintings from Ukraine, and she wanted the proceeds to go to the World Central Kitchen. The lady who bought it did have a Ukrainian sounding name. It took over a year and sold for $150.

I bought these antler handle knives as part of an online auction lot for a few dollars. I thought that they were just antler looking, but, after seeing that each was randomly different, I realized that these were actually made from antlers. Sold for $40.

A lot of three vintage work lamps did not sell in the online auction that I organized for my neighbor. I tried to give them away to no avail. I finally decided to list them, and the first sold in a few weeks for $59. Hum.

Earlier this year, I think February, I bid up an online auction lot of razors where I thought I saw vintage Gillette, which I know to be really good sellers. I did not realize that different brands are now selling modern versions of them. Nevertheless, a few were worth something, so I started listing those first (I’m still working through this purchase). This one sold for $58, and I’ve also sold another for $45. These pay for the purchase. The rest are only worth $15 and less, but I will group some of them up.

This set of antique books is a commission that has been listed for a few years. Finally sold for $140.

These three knives were purchased in a utensil drawer lot for a few dollars. They sold for $50. I believe that they are similar to Cutco in that the manufacturer will sharpen them for a low price.

I bought a set of 11 small Rorstrand cups and saucers in an online auction lot last year for about $15. Different colors have different price points, for whatever reason. These red set of two sold for $70. I have two sets of yellow that should net me over $200 each, but those will take some time to sell.
I listed 18 items last week. 15 were DP and met the challenge while three were newer.
I am wishing everyone healing powers towards their (or their pet’s) health issues; whether minor, major, physical, or mental. We all need prayers, happy thoughts, and good doctors & vets.
@VT – One of my cats had an issue recently. Prior to our vacation in May, we noticed a big lump in the back of our cat Hops. Not like a growth, but like a big extended butt. Ends up he was really constipated. We had to take him to an emergency place, and, for over $900, they removed the poop and gave him a little cat enema. It started happening again in August, and this time we called the vet for an office visit, and he did something similar. It still cost us over $400. He was put on a high fiber diet, just like we humans need to do as we get older, and I’m plying him with MiraLAX mixed with a treat.
@Amatino – You (and your community) are so talented and creative! There are some really nice contemporary designs as well as plenty of cat themes. So cute!If you donate something, it certainly counts!!
I pulled out those two boxes of magazines I mentioned earlier, and I listed exactly 21 new items to meet my goal. I started working on other DP as well as some newer stuff, but they haven’t been listed yet. So, just met the goal and that’s it.
This week’s goal is then 15. Yesterday, I washed enough dishes and men’s shaving razors (random) to about make those 15 listings, and I have more to wash today to get to that number. I feel I’m on my way.
I hope everyone else is doing well. I know that I working towards this challenge a bit more seriously because I’ve promised my family that I’m going to give them back enough space in the basement to set up a small workout area. My first goal is to reduce my DPs, and then I will set up an online auction to sell off old inventory that has been sitting for years. I will also sell off some DP electronics that I don’t feel like testing, so I guess that will reduce the number of items I could be listing for the challenge by about 3 or 4. Don’t worry, because the boxes of stuff that weren’t DP when we started the challenge will be towards the end of it! LOL
Anyway, please join me in this challenge. You can always restart now with 15 and say you didn’t meet the goal a week or two.
Yes, I realized that there wasn’t too much exciting there. I was surprised at some of the prices they did get, although, they had some unopened sets. Hopefully, they were just interested collectors.
I did buy a few lots of household stuff and art. I got some very good deals, and the house was beautiful.
Good for you, Julie! Take care of yourself.
I listed 26 items (all DP) and donated three.
That’s 29 against my goal of 34. That leaves me with five I still need to catch up, so this week’s goal is 16 + 5 = 21. (double-check me, but is that correct?) This seems more reasonable especially since I found two boxes of magazines that should be easy to list or pull out ones to throw out / recycle. I’m pretty sure I can catch up this week.
I remember those Swatch watches! I think I have one, but it was a more mass produced model. I think I bought it from Costco. I stopped wearing watches (and wedding rings) during the pandemic.
My big sale from last week was a charity listing, so I didn’t really make anything from it. Weird though, eBay’s performance calculation messed up the sales numbers by adding it in twice. I think it meant to add and then subtract (since the money doesn’t go to me).
Anyway, a friend had two very old paintings on felt that was bought in the Ukraine over 100 years ago. They really weren’t worth that much, but my friend wanted to sell it with the money being donated to World Central Kitchen. I listed it right after Russia’s invasion, and we tried running it as an auction a few times with her advertising it somehow online. After that didn’t work, I just left it as a listing. The buyer’s name did sound Ukrainian, so the paintings found its person.
Otherwise, it is still quiet for me. I did do some scavenging, which I shouldn’t do since I need to pare down my inventory and open up a section of the basement. But, I got some good deals. Tons of garage sales this weekend, and I bid in a MaxSold auction.

I shouldn’t be scavenging right now; I have so little space, and I’ve promised my family to make room in the basement for a workout area, but I can’t help myself.
There is a Maxsold auction in Cranbury, NJ that has lots of baseball cards that look totally worthless (1980s). However, I see some sports memorabilia that you might be interested in (college & professional) plus maybe football cards (1980s, but maybe more interesting than baseball?).
Just thought I’d mention it. I’m more interested in the household stuff that might go for really good prices. I might have a conflict during the pickup time, so not sure whether I will bid or not.
I listed 25 items last week. Of them, 17 were from death piles and 2 were donated, for a total of 19 against the 18 challenge.
Since I missed the previous week, I like Amatino’s idea to make up for it. So, I’ll need 19 for the missed week plus 17 for this week, a total of 36. Since I listed an extra last week and another in the first week, I’m reducing it to 34. Doable, but definitely a big challenge! I’ll only list DP items this week!!!
I was out of town last week with my store on Time Away, so I only sold seven items. I did sell a few higher priced items, so my ASP wasn’t too bad.
Right before I left on my trip, I found that I had never adjusted my Etsy handling time from my last vacation that ended in the beginning of June. I might have made an extra sale or two over the summer if I had remembered to fix it. I fixed it on Friday.
My daughter (with my husband’s backing) has asked me to give back some of the basement so that we can have a workout area downstairs. It might not be a bad idea for me to reduce my store and get rid of inventory that hasn’t moved over a few years. Plus, we can free up some workout equipment that’s buried in the mist of all my junk. I told them that I will probably need until the beginning of next year to set up a Maxsold online auction.

Number of items listed this week: 10My parents were in town, so I took my mom to some yard sales just for fun. We both didn’t buy anything. However, my mom brought books and art for me to sell. I just listed this one called Calder Jewelry. I priced it a bit too high at $425 OBO, but I wasn’t sure about how to adjust it for a paperback. Most of what I saw in the solds were for hardback.
https://www.ebay.com/itm/186667221171
I’m currently working on listing “The Intimate World Of Alexander Calder”. The prices seem all over the place, but I’m thinking around $75.
Not sure why Calder’s books are so high priced, but he is a great artist, and one that I can recognize. I noticed a sculpture or two of his on the high ceiling of the JFK airport when I was there about five years ago.
