Amazing! Another lesson about opening every zipper and checking every compartment. Imagine you sold the belt without looking????
Yes, happy 50th Christine.
My husband’s 50th is coming up as well on Oct 9!
Nonfiction and Fabric are down 3.6% in the prior 31 days and down 2.0% compared to a year ago.
We’ve been buying our coffee beans from Costco for several years. The kind we get is organic & farmer friendly. The price is very good, and I’m usually able to buy it for a few dollars off when it goes on sale. It is a dark roast, which my husband and I both like.
My sales were so pathetic this past week that I actually called eBay this morning and made sure that my account had no issues. The CS rep could not find any problems, so I guess it is just a combination of a slow retail period and coincidence that no one wanted my stuff this particular week.
I also seem to have a dropped listing. I will need to now recreate it because it is not in ended or unsold. I’m thinking of sending some photos to a consignment shop to see if they are interested first.
Anyway, here are my numbers:
Week of Sept 23 – 29
* Total Items in Store: 1174 eBay, 13 Mercari
* Items Sold: 5
* Cost of Items Sold: $4.25 + $0 Commission
* Total Sales: $51.78
* Highest Price Sold: $17 Marilyn Monroe DVD & Book (- about $4 shipping)
* Average Price Sold: $10.35
* Returns: 0
* Money Spent on New Inventory This Week: $2
* Number of items listed this week: 3I sold one $11 item between Monday Sept 24 to this Sat Sept 29. I then sold two low value items yesterday. Yes, I am experiencing an excruciatingly slow period. Slower than any slow period in the summer.
I’m actually planning to call eBay today just to check that there isn’t anything wrong with my account. I don’t normally call them for this sort of thing, but it is so slow that I’m actually concerned.
However, I first need to call UPS. They seem to have charged me for a shipment within California that I had nothing to do with. Fun days.
09/30/2018 at 9:00 pm in reply to: What Sells On eBay: Boots, Record Player, KC Chiefs hat, Pyrex, Canoe Paddle, Turntable #49368I’m currently helping a friend set up an online auction with a company that I normally use for sourcing. (I will get paid for doing the work). One of the items she has is a 1963 Barbie trunk with a doll and clothes inside. The doll is not a Barbie, and I’m not sure whether the clothes are for Barbie or that doll.
After reading all this information, I’m thinking I should do more research. If these are worth some money, I could remove them from the auction and sell them on eBay (on commission for my friend). I do know that the shoes have Japan on the bottom.
Can you give me a few links to the collector sites that have been particularly useful for you? Thanks!

I spent three days at my friend’s house taking photos for her online auction. She is still finding things to sell, so I’m not at all finished. But, progress has been made, and the auction should start either the end of October or beginning of November.
If you would like to read a detailed description of how to ship rugs, Mike from Atlanta was nice enough to answer the same question for me almost two years ago:
09/27/2018 at 9:31 pm in reply to: What Sells On eBay: Boots, Record Player, KC Chiefs hat, Pyrex, Canoe Paddle, Turntable #49283So, how do you date the accessories when you see them for sale? After you buy them, how do you figure out which doll they belong to?
I played with Barbie dolls as a young girl. I was born in 1965, so I would have played with the dolls from the 60s and 70s. I remember that different clothing and accessories were not easily available. They didn’t really sell them separately; or, at least, not much. I can see how they could be worth something, but I’m surprised at how much!
What a cute cat!
I know that Steve Shultz uses videos in his listings all the time. A link can be added to the listing, but embedded videos are no longer allowed.

09/27/2018 at 11:27 am in reply to: What Sells On eBay: Boots, Record Player, KC Chiefs hat, Pyrex, Canoe Paddle, Turntable #49246I remember hearing about Woolrich brand clothing when Ryanne used to do the What Sold videos. I looked them up and found out that they are in Pennsylvania (Woolrich, PA to be exact) and that they have tours of their factory a few times a year. I arranged a short vacation with my kids to check them out. They still use the factory to manufacture wool blankets and fabric, but most of their clothing is subcontracted out. It was a very interesting tour, but we went in August, and the factory was very hot.
Last week, I mostly sold low dollar items, and I didn’t feel anything was worth sharing. Strangely, I haven’t sold anything since Sunday, so I’m not sure I’ll have anything to share next week. Not sure what is going on.
I have never seen such a thing! Care to share the link?
My rule is if I have something NIB with something used, then the listing is used. If I have something that is NIB, but I have to remove it for photos, then it is new. However, I include a note that says the item was removed for photos.
So, if you separate the two, then you have one NIB listing and one used listing.
Before you remove the item from the box, do a Google search and see if you can find stock photos. You would have to decide if it is OK to do or not. Typically, houseware companies aren’t big VERO instigators. If you find a listing on eBay for the same item, they may have a stock photo. I wouldn’t take someone’s actual photo, though.
