New Listings 56First I had a $180 sale cancellation this week after 3 days. Then I got a $250 fur coat return. Brutal combination!!!
Yesterday my daughter made $20 yesterday photographing shoes for me. I pay her 50 cents an item. She is finally starting to get it that the faster/better she does the better her pay is. If only she’d stay motivated (and turn off Minecraft every once in a while) she could be making quite a bit of money for a 12 year old.
My ebay profits are really starting to make a difference it seems. I’ve been able to pay down debt. I’m consistently paying car payments, house payments, and some bills via ebay funds every month. I keep my credit cards paid off in full every 2 weeks at payday. And to top it off, my account balances are rising. Yay for FU money!!
Signing up for XM is a mistake. They make it difficult to quit and then they harrass you non-stop to join back.
As for the lifetime subscription units, yes they exist. I have one!
I bought a Sirius Boombox with the receiver for $2 at a yard sale. I tested it and it got all the channels. I kept it around for a while to see if the channels would go away. They never did. In the end I decided to keep it instead of selling it. I’ve been jamming for free to Sirius/XM in my ebay office for over 2 years, Scavenger style! The units with lifetime subscription go for $200-300 on ebay last I checked.
With the way Starbucks is expanding, I’d be very hesitant to open up a coffee shop. All it takes is Starbucks moving in to town to destroy your business.
Restauranting in general is usually a losing business proposition. The independent places that open in my area don’t last long at all.
WHY would ebay drop the label info off like that? So stupid!!!
The paypal email still has the tracking number but it is not linked to the item. Ugh….Nothing sucks more than driving out to a yard sale only to find it is ALL the “limited edition” collectors crap. These sales usually have high prices and include notes next to the price pointing out how much they allegedly go for on ebay.
I created a pivot chart to group my sales by month/year.
December/January are tops, followed by June.I think June is big for me because I list like a madman in late April and May after coming out of the crappy winter.
I occasionally try to do amazon by scanning barcodes, but it seems pretty much all Retail Arbitrage has become gated requiring distributor invoices.
Amazon was fun while I did it, but I got in at the tail end and that ship has sailed.Items in Store 1308

New Listings 52Great week for me. I had projected a $941 weekly average for 4Q and I’m FINALLY hitting those numbers the last 2 weeks. I’m just gonna keep on listing and hope for the best from here on out. This week I’m going to try and get some toys listed from my death piles.
It is an arcade game manual. There is nothing unusual about it.
11/13/2019 at 9:18 am in reply to: What should eBay do to build seller trust in the eBay marketplace? #70596My BIG issue with trust with ebay:
CSR reps are at best woefully misinformed/equipped to do their jobs and at worst outright liars. Here is a typical call to ebay customer service:
I state my issue. CSR seems to make up something that is not based in any policy they can reference as to why the issue happened. I am told that “notes are being made in the system”. I am told I will be followed up with in 48 hours. Etc, etc.None of this ever happens. There is no followup. When I call back to get an update MAGICALLY there are no “notes”, no case, nothing. I have to go through it all again.
I’ve lost count of the times I have been outright lied to. How about the old false INAD catch 22 scenario? That one got me a few times. I call to ebay for guidance on how to handle a false INAD. Ebay rep tells me that they cannot do anything until I accept the return – tells me I have to accept the return and THEN I can file an appeal. The CSR then “makes a note” in the record. I ask for email confirmation of this and the CSR says they can’t do that. I do what they tell me then call back to speak to the appeals dept. The next rep tells me that because I accepted the return I have waived my ability to appeal. WTF??!?!?!?
I tell that CSR that I was told not 10 minutes prior that I did what I was supposed to IN ORDER to appeal and that they need to check the notes. SURPRISE! There are no notes. I’ve even went as far as telling the CSR’s in some cases to go back and listen to my previous calls to hear the CSR tell me to do certain things or make promises to me.The solution: DOCUMENTATION!!!!!!! I want a summary email of my call of what my issue was, what ebay is going to do, and when it should be done. I want a case number I can reference when I call back to cut through all the BS, or better yet I want a direct email I can communicate directly about that issue with someone who is working on it.
This is how Amazon Customer support works. Everything is transparent and documented in emails.
Ebay for business on Facebook is the only customer service I feel actually follows through with anything. People have figured that out now and they are woefully overwhelmed now though.
I avoided these posts because I knew they would just dredge up the anger and disdain I have for ebay customer service and I was right.
If you desire further reading, here is my worst documented CS experience:
That one there is the one that broke the camel’s back.
Quick update since I brought this up in another thread. I never did get that credit for the camera issue. I was told there was “no record in the system of a refund”. The case stood as is with no chance to appeal.
I had a buyer in France who could not buy an item from me last week. I tried numerous things to help him – I even removed GSP, set up a custom shipping option for him, and cleared my exclusion list. Didn’t matter.
I did have other GSP sales last week though, so who knows what happened there.
It would be nice if they gave you the option to just drop off the truck and take a check for that amount!!
Be warned: When you do sell similar any multi quantity listings will reset to the original listed quantity.
11/11/2019 at 9:01 am in reply to: What shipping-related issues should eBay improve or fix? Share below! #70478Now that I’m using Pirateship, this should be #1 on the list:
Why isn’t ebay using Cubic Shipping??????Cubic shipping using polymailers would save customers a ton of money! Most anything that can ship in a poly mailer can ship cross country for $10 or less, and weight isn’t part of the equation. This is a game changer for bulky/heavy clothing.
How can a mom n pop place like pirate ship have this and ebay doesn’t.
I have no way to effectively pass this discount on to my customers. I can’t do flat rate shipping because then my east coast customers would pay more.
For now I’m just pocketing the difference, which ranges from $1-$5 on most items.
