I’ve went down the “potter house” rabbit hole. At least I’m watching on 1.5x speed to save time.
Ugh….so…much…Funko…Pop…. I HATE that stuff!!!
That’s probably the stuff that bankrupted the original owner.Anyways, really fun watch. I’ll be perusing this channel for a while.
I agree that starting with what you know and what you are interested in. Learning is always easier when you are invested and excited in the experience.
I got started originally by dealing in vintage 80’s toys and electronics (hence my business name). I was the poor kid who dreamed of having all the amazing toys and gadgets but really never had any of them. So I started by fulfilling childhood toy dreams. Finally getting to handle and own the things I saw in commercials or movies. It made me feel like a kid again!
Eventually the thrifting for old toys and electronics dried up so I branched out into…well, everything
My thrifting strategy evolved from me basically just looking for things that grabbed my eye.
That would send me on a research adventure that would open my eyes to even more things. My best advice to you is to develop a sense of quality. To do that, you have to get your hands on things. Lots of things! Take shoes for instance. Once you’ve handled a few hundred pairs of shoes, you will get a general feel for a quality pair of shoes that can sell for good money. You’ll also be able to quickly identify the junk that isn’t even worth looking at. This is true for pretty much any category you could sell in.
Another way to develop a sense of quality is to go to retail stores of high end goods. See and touch high quality, high dollar items. Learn the brands. It depends on the item. I generally do not set limits on my items as the value for my long tail stuff is highly subjective.
If I have an item where the value has been pretty well set in the market I will set a minimum.
Another time I’ll set a minimum is if I get one of these incremental buyers wasting my time. If a bidder does the dollar bump after I counter offer, I’ll go into the item and set a minimum and then decline their counter. Poof, I won’t see their incremental bids anymore. The buyer can only make 3 offers.
The depends on the category on ebay. Most categories are now 5 offers.
30 out of 40 were $30 or less for me. My numbers would be a far different story if it weren’t for those low dollar sales.
It’s like I said when I first started scavenging:
Everyone else sees junk and trash. Me? I see $20 bills laying all over the place just waiting for me to pick them up.Items in Store 1330

New Listings 22It’s beginning to look alot like… December sales!
J&R, don’t knock those $30 sales – they add up quick!
Yesterday I changed my handling times to 1 business day until the USPS Christmas cutoff date. We’ll see if that has any effect on my sales. I’m hoping I can keep up as our schedule is packed to the gills this month. This week I have a contractor coming to install a standard entry door in my garage. For years I’ve been having to open the main garage door to go in and out of my ebay space. The kids also use the main garage door when taking their dogs out. Needless to say, when it is really cold (or really hot), opening that 18′ garage door sucks. Now I’ll have a 36″ door that will open out right near the entrance of my inventory storage shed. It’ll also have a doggie door so the dogs can come and go as they please. Money well spent…and tax deductible since it is an improvement to my ebay space!

Do what feels right depending on the case.
The only affect you have to consider is if you want to leave your item off the market until the case closes. This was apparently wide spread. I saw numerous people mention their sales promotion woes over on Facebook. What a nightmare.
They are more expensive for small light packages.
Make sure to double bag the perfume in ziplock bags and mark the package properly for the contents.
I wonder if they cut the sweater when they opened it. I’m honestly surprised this has never happened on any of my items.

New Listings 34It was a better week than I thought it was. We had a good Thanksgiving and I took a couple days off from listing. We binge watched Cobra Kai (awesome show!).
Scavenge of the week was a Mountain Hardwear mens Kilt. It was my size so of course I wore it around the house yesterday, much to the dismay of my wife and oldest daughter. Lol! It was quite a freeing experience. I can see why dudes wear these when playing disc golf. I’ve seen multiple guys wearing kilts on the disc golf course so it must be a hipster millenial thing. Alas, my wife threatened to video and facebook shame me so I had to take it off and put it in the list pile. Should net somewhere around $80.
One of ya’ll should run for mayor at some point. It’s a good paying part time job!
