Random hangups has just been a way of life for me when listing on the app on my phone. The really annoying time it takes forever is when I’m printing shipping labels. Sometimes it hangs when creating the pdf for printing.
I swear I saw something like this at the heritage museum that is local to me. It looks like a hand tool to process raw cotton or wool into yarn. I don’t know what keywords to use to verify that.
I see folks on here saying they are held on hold with ebay Customer service. I’ve never had to wait on hold. Sometimes I’ve called in, but usually I request a callback through the app. The callback wait time is always around 2 minutes. They pretty much call me as soon as I put in the request.
Maybe it is because of my geographic location?

Long story short – you are hosed. USPS has ZERO liability for their end of the transaction. USPS can punt your package over Niagara Falls just for fun and you would have no recourse. The only way you can file a claim is if FedEx marks the item as damaged in their system before they hand it over to USPS. I’m pretty sure the only way that is gonna happen is if they literally flatten it or catch it on fire.
Only use Smart post if you are absolutely sure your item is 100% unbreakable or if you can afford to eat a total loss including shipping.
12/13/2016 at 1:52 pm in reply to: Scavenger Life Episode 288: The War Of Attrition Will Not Grind Us Down #8042There’s nothing wrong with using your time wisely and grabbing the low hanging fruit. I only do a deep dive in clothes once in a blue moon if I have extra time to burn. I usually find some good stuff when I do this.
Even if I were full time, I think I’d only do an indepth look into clothes once or twice a month. The junk to treasure ratio is just too high.Total BS. You are NOT responsible for knowing if the item is compatible with their countries broadcast system. That was a CS rep talking out of their bum.
Customer didn’t do their homework and this is buyers remorse. My gosh the returns system on ebay so incredibly broken.
12/13/2016 at 8:45 am in reply to: Ebay Shipping Information, Statistics and New Freight Program #7986With Prime shipping, not only are you getting “free” shipping, but you are also opting into the A-Z return guarantee. Anyone who has been bitten by a crappy merchant fulfilled seller knows that the real benefit of Prime shipping is that guarantee – not the free or fast shipping.
I’ll pay $12 Prime shipped over the $9 merchant fulfilled item any day of the week just to know I’ll be 100% satisfied.I have a Kmart close to my house. I honestly have no idea how they have stayed in business. The place has a new manager every time I go in there. Their checkout system is a total mess. It routinely takes 15+ minutes to check out for just a few items. I’ve had to have my entire order rescanned more than once because of their crappy system.
Having said all that, they do occasionally have a good clearance sale. I’ve done plenty of RA there and buy a lot of my kids clothes off-season when they make all the clearance $1-2 per outfit.
12/12/2016 at 2:12 pm in reply to: Customer wants artwork removed from frame for shipping… Jay & Ryanne did this? #7881Definitely confirm anything in offer notes via a PM. I had a case in which the buyer had said certain things in the offer notes. I plead my case to ebay and they conveniently “couldn’t access” those notes. The notes are buried in the offer message that ebay sends you if you keep those, but it is easier for ebay to access messages directly to and from that buyer.
Just imagine what your sales would be if you didn’t call. Lol!

One thing I noticed this week was that my sales were very balanced based on category. I sold a little of everything: shoes, shirts, jackets, hats, toys, books, electronics, and oddball items. It definitely pays to diversify your inventory!

I just want to send you some positive vibes. You’ve made a difference in many people’s lives with your story and your positivity. I don’t think I would have had the confidence to keep going with this business and fully commit if I didn’t happen upon your website. Along with many people here, I look forward to turning on your podcast every Monday. Stay positive and keep listing! 🙂
After I read this I wondered about the last time I called ebay. It was last week on Monday around 4pm. On Tuesday I had an outrageously awesome $400 in sales day. I’m going to call today about an issue. I will pay attention to what happens with sales now. Interesting theory!
I don’t know if it is just me, but these preferences change randomly for me even when I have them set. I think it has to do with the fact I go from mobile to the pc during the listing process. I DO NOT trust preferences. I don’t even trust my draft that I know is correct.
The typical things that change are the duration, Buy it now, and even accepting paypal drop off randomly.
Now before I list anything I do a bulk edit of drafts to catch everything.
