Sales events: Ebay finally actually IMPROVED something!

  I have not ran a sales markdown event in a LONG time. When I did it was very clunky. It was hard to sort items, there were not functional filters for age or keywords, and there was no option for “start sale now”. It was terribly clunky.
  
  This morning I decided to suffer through it and start a 20% sale on my shirts. I was pleasantly surprised to see that the entire sales markdown section had been drastically improved!
  
  I was able to search by keyword. I was able to even add free shipping for sale items if I wanted.
  I was so happy with this new functionality that I started a sale for denim as well.
  I also created a clearance sale for items older than a year and a half.
  I was able to choose “start immediately” for the start time.
  
  I’ve been down on ebay a lot for the past few months (well deserved on their part), but I’ll give credit where credit is due: They appear to have gotten sales markdowns right.
  
  If you haven’t checked sales markdowns in a while, it might be worth your time to check it out.

  The only thing I’d like to add is an option to disable “best offer” while the sale is running.

  Nothing like a $30 item with 20% off ($24) then get an offer for $14 or $15. Not much room left to negociate!

      Like you guys, I can tell the age of my items from where I took the pictures. If I have a pair of shoes I obviously listed 2 years ago and this is the first ever offer, I’m HIGHLY inclined to take that offer.

  I see the markdown as a way to get attention for items – yes, I do get cranky at the lowball offers on a discounted item, but better to have some interest and start a conversation with a potential buyer than to have no action.

  We started a sale today. We put items with more than one watcher and within a certain price range on sale and sold three items – two were big sale items. It has worked when we do it that way. I do agree about the best offer thing — there are some items (not all!) I’d like to be able to turn it off on if they are on sale.

  One thing I would like to be clear to buyers is the sale end date. I often only do a 48-72 hour sales, so some people “watch” the item, and it ends and goes back to normal price and I get messages.
  Of course, I am happy to honor sale price, but it’s annoying.
  Last time, I added the sale end date in the “sale description” text banner. Seemed to help
