I don’t mind the product details / information I just don’t like links to other peoples listings (that cost less than mine) at the top of my page but you’re right it is probably the new reality.
My first thought is I need to focus more on sourcing things that don’t fit the product catalogs. Avoid items that have UPCs and ISBNs unless I want to match low prices which in many cases I don’t.
I’m also going to beef up my Etsy store. I’ve let my inventory there get down to around 100 items. I used to have it around 300. For the time being a person still owns their real estate on Etsy.
In my many years of selling on ebay this is the first time something they are doing has made me feel a little panicked. My store has been dead this week and I started noticing this testing on my page a couple of days ago. Along with everything else that has been glitchy I have a bad feeling.
Thank you junque redux. It looks like ebay is experimenting with the best placement of cross advertising. I see my own ‘items on sale’ at the very bottom of the page below everything else including pictures of other peoples items. My sale items used to show in the middle of the page.
It seems wrong when I’m paying for a subscription for a store and ebay is trying to figure out where they can get the most bang for their buck with cross advertising on my listing.
After some further investigating it seems that this must be a beta test and I am in a test group. When I’m in my other ebay account I don’t see the price comparisons and a friend of mine doesn’t see them from their account either. I’ve looked at some items in other peoples’ stores and I see price comparisons when using my affected account. Can some of you check my listing and let me know if you see price comparisons across the top of the page?
almasty this isn’t just with books. It’s on all kinds of things that are branded. Here is another listing of mine. I remember there used to be ads in the middle of the page or at the bottom. I don’t remember it ever being across the top like this.
I’ve learned quite a bit in the forums especially in the discussion portion. There are both useful threads and those that are a waste of time with people just complaining. Same as ebay.
I copied this from the etsy seller handbook
“Maximize your tags. Plug in your list of keywords and phrases and use all available tags. Each one is another opportunity to find your shopper. To get the most out of your tags, use phrases (“dining room table”) instead of single words (“dining,” “room,” and “table”).”
And don’t worry about repeating yourself in tags. It isn’t considered keyword spamming.

DigVintageStuff nice job on Etsy. I took a look at a few items in your store and noticed you use a good number of one word tags. You’re obviously doing quite well regardless. Do you pay much attention to best practices for Etsy SEO? Are you active on the forums? How long have you been selling on Etsy?
Matt thank you! Works great.
A dilator?
Awesome find. Great job.
Maybe there is a mental health professional where he currently is that could help?
I don’t think they did say anything about that.
You can still watch the video if interested

Ryanne I just had the same thing happen.
ebaymom do you know if it is due to an item having to be same price for 14 days is there a way to see which items those are? It’s going to be impossible to remember what is what and annoying to go through creating a sale and 2/3 of it doesn’t take.
I thought an item just couldn’t go on sale until it had been listed at least 14 days. I guess I’d better go reread the rules.
Mycottage I didn’t hear him address the missing views/watchers either.
I didn’t really hear anything too enlightening. One thing I thought interesting was that they are going to be using ‘machine intelligence’ to identify people who show a pattern of abusing free return system and put ‘friction’ in their way to make it harder to return things.
The high number of glitches was acknowledged and deemed unacceptable by BK and he said they are still working on restoring lost photos which affected a minority of sellers (his words)….
Anybody else catch it?
And ebay keeps adding new ones. It doesn’t hurt to go back to old listings and check to see if ebay has added some item specifics you can fill in. I find them all the time. I don’t want people using item specifics to filter and my items isn’t included because I didn’t fill them out.
