My strategy of shipping only Fedex or UPS has paid off. Most of my Fedex and UPS packages are getting delievered in 3-4 days.
All packages except 3 (USPS ones from 10 days ago or more) that were expected before Christmas have been delivered.

I don’t know about everyone else, but because of the Unprecedented USPS Insanity, I have decided not to use USPS until they can solve their problems. I started this yesterday and I hope my shipping (USPS only right now) issues go away.
I didn’t even know there was an issue until I heard the podcast. Even then, I thought it was just regional, but then I checked for my orders that have went out and most of my recent orders since Dec. 7th have not been delivered.
I am starting to have to give refunds. I may have to pay about $1 more to use UPS or Fedex, but I will come out ahead and save a lot of headaches.
J& R said they are just changing their handling time. What is your plan?

Kentucky Picker,
The mystery of Regional Rate Box A shipping is not such a mystery. Anything that fits in a Regional Rate Box A box (side loading or top loading) and is 3 pounds of more is going to be cheaper than regular Priority Mail. 2 pounds or less is cheaper with regular Priority Mail.

Retro,
Yes, every time I called GoDaddy it felt like this was just a side business and no one really knew how it worked. They couldn’t help much either.

07/27/2020 at 11:29 pm in reply to: Scavenger Life Episode 473: Does Insurance Make You An Adult? #80038Retro,
Yes, almost all my unlisted inventory is in containers. Some are hanging clothes, others are loose on shelfs. But, most of the containers have an inventory sheet with a title, price, and flaws listed for each item – basically just need to take pictures and list. I have a master list that tells me where to find it, what is in it and how many items. I think I have about 2000 items to list that are inventoried in this manner.
So, all I have to do is look at the master sheet and decide what I want to list. It is really a good system for me. I didn’t mean do get this much inventory, but it just happened. I am planning on hiring some help and then I can go through all of this inventory quite quickly.
So, yes, I think this fits all the criteria you had and none of this is too “precious”.

Yes, I hadn’t thought about it until I went into Sprint. I was the only one in the store with one of the employees. I wasn’t in any hurry, so I was just shooting the breeze about Sprint with him. He told me that I could get a good discount if I knew someone in the military. I said no,didn’t know anyone. Then after discussing it, I thought what about my dad from WWII. The guy said he had one approved where the guy was born in 1922 and had passed away (like my dad). So, I decided to give it a try.

Challenge of the month: I was able to reorganize a part of my basement inventory that was getting very disorganized.
Scavenge of the week: Got a nice working VCR \TV combo for $5.
Trends of the week: Selling a lot of my older items that are on sale, so average price has taken a hit. But good to clear out very old items that have been sitting in my store.
Personal savings for the month: Two calls saved and a little work saved me $160 per month in this past month. The first was my car insurance, saved $100 by calling to switch out of the Michigan Insurance that required you to get 100% medical coverage whether you needed it or not (I didn’t need it). That ended July 2nd by law, so I switched it. I saved about $60 on my cell phone bill for 3 phone lines from Sprint by doing the Military discount and direct withdrawal. I submitted my dad’s discharge papers from WWII and they accepted it for the military discount.

Scavenge of the week: Santa Bears – I went to a garage sale and they just wanted a huge box of them gone. $1 for all, but you had to take all. I couldn’t resist and I bought them. I usually get about $25 each for these, but they take up a lot of space and take awhile to sell.

Yes, just recently when I was selling a pair of inline skates nearly everyday I had something like this happen.
It was two different pairs of inline skates, both Bauer with Bauer wheels. While the skates were in storage waiting to be sold, the wheels disenagrated to small pieces. I had to cancel the sale of one of them.

06/15/2020 at 10:47 pm in reply to: Is it just me or did eBay do away with Padded Mailers for coupons? #78471Steve,
Yes, I noticed that also.
I have seen this before. Items are not available, then they come back later.
I think they run out of them and take the listing down, but I’m not sure. But I am just going to check later when I get my quarterly coupon. I bet they will be there then.
