So I just got off the phone with eBay. The rep mentioned that there is no way to change the reason for return, however, he did close the case and refunded the buyer with eBay funds. Now, while that is great, that return will still be counted in the INAD return rate. Oh, well.
I called Anchor support and they are also going to issue me a refund for a month for this glitch. I was only the line for 40 minutes!
Hi, thanks for the info, what is the best way to reach them? Ebay for business is that the Facebook page? If it is, would there be another way to contact them besides calling? Unfortunately I don’t have a Facebook page. (Not looking forward to waiting 40 minutes to reach someone.) Thanks!

I have fixed a couple of hundred listings, still have quite a few to go though. Yeah, I would not wait on eBay for two reasons. Last time when we had a picture issue (where the pictures where scaled down) eBay never fixed them, we had to redo those listings. Second, the longer that eBay takes to fix (if they ever do) the more we are missing out on sales. Just a thought, thanks.
To recover your pics do this:
The easiest way to recover them is to search google cache. To do this google your item number and you will hopefully see your listing come up. instead of clicking on the clickable google search result link itself….look immediately under it and there should also be a green link that shows the actual address. To the right where the green address ends there is a down arrow. Click in and view cached. Then click on your image to expand it and right click and save.
This was posted on the eBay community boards and worked for us, we are currently fixing the listings (as we assume eBay won’t do much). Just don’t wait too long as Google will update the cache files and the pics will be gone for sure.
We are having the same issue. Wasn’t aware of this until this morning. We have over 2400 listings and just randomly checked some of the GTC listings and sure enough, they are missing pictures. It seems like the newly relisted ones on are okay now, however, what happens to the ones missing the pics? Are we safe to assume eBay is not able to get them back and we would have to retake the pictures as we don’t save our photos? Thanks
Thanks for the reply. Yes, it was just thrown inside of the box, hardly any packing material. They sent it through FedEx and I did call FedEx but they mentioned that the sender has to be the one initiating a damage claim as it is their account. Buyer just wants money back and is not interested in doing anything else. BTW, if I don’t refund tomorrow, eBay could close the case and I’ll be out the money and get a ding on my account.
Seems like Ebay fixed the issue as everything on my late shipment rate went to 0%.
I spoke with another eBay rep yesterday and had a better experience. He did not know why those appeared but he apologized and submitted the request for removal. The only issue now is that more have appeared today some from December. I’m thinking to wait a week and submit another request next week.
Jay, we are under the Guaranteed Delivery program – actually, we have noticed these late shipments come in when we opted into the program. I mentioned this to the rep but he was not having any of it, basically said the late shipment rate had absolutely nothing to do with the Guaranteed delivery program. We are under the Handling time option and have a cutoff time of 2:00 pm mountain time, Monday through Friday. Rep said there was nothing he could do and only call back when my account was in jeopardy. BTW, this is the second time I call anchor support as we recently upgraded and have never come across such a rude rep.
northernpinesgallery – I’ll read your post, thanks for the heads up.
I see. Thanks for the replies!
Hi, thanks for the replies. I don’t see it as punishing the seller; as a seller myself, sure I’d want my money back. I am just concerned about the wording eBay used in their message to verify the claim. At the bottom, it states “Note: Any fraudulent claims will make the shipper and/or package recipient liable for prosecution for mail fraud under the federal criminal code. See state fraud policies and regulations.” Will knowing that the seller did a terrible job at packing the receiver constitute as a “fraud” if the claim is verified? I really just want to do the right thing – I certainly don’t want to commit any fraud for sure though.
