Maybe a weird plant pot that needs a tray for excess water coming out of the hole?
We bought a commercial fridge last week using Local Pickup. eBay let us print a receipt with a number code + QR Code. The seller entered it into eBay and finalized the sale after I picked it up.
Nice week on eBay when all you did was go camping! Its a good life.
I saw the link you sent of that fancy coffee shop in Chicago. Amazing!
Glad you’re taking your business seriously. Our challenge in the early days was to make sure we balanced doing the work of eBay and doing all the paperwork. We still just do business under a General Partnership. No LLC.
Since Amazon now charges for storage of books, are you able to sell your books before they start charging for storage? I know in the old days you could send in as many books as you wanted until they sold.
Broad Porch coffee is good now with Phil roasting. But in several weeks, you’ll be able to also buy the coffee that Ryanne and Phil are roasting together on our big new roaster. I’m drinking their experiments as we speak ๐
Agreed. Its all about knowledge. Like that box of ephemera you found. You knew it was worth something and made it happen.
Why is Etsy less susceptible to fraud? Just different people buying? Or does Etsy protect you better?
Most of all I feel it is important to try to become exposed to bigger and bigger opportunities.
This is the story of our time scavenging aka living. We hate being stuck in a rut, so we put ourselves in situations where we meet new people, exposed to new information, and new things to try.
I’m not a financial guru so I dont just mean its always about making more money and getting rich. We get excited by life when we get exposed to new opportunities that make life itself richer. For instance, I’m not sure if we’re going to get rich running a local coffee shop and roaster (we might ๐ but we’re having the time of our lives doing it.
So far, we’ve had good luck with all forms of USPS mail. I think there are issues depending on region and postal center.
I think this will be a perpetual problem with buyers on eBay. I wonder if Amazon has any better solution.
Its tricky, but we have given out address through eBay messages when the buyer asks to see the item first. No issues. Its common that a local person wants to see the item before buying.
I think if some automated eBay warning came up, a real person at eBay would see our messages where we’re honestly just trying to make a sale. Hoping for better angels of our nature.
I wish I lived near there! He really liked walking canes.
Others have given good advice. Its difficult (unwise) for any of us to give you answers since we can never know all the exact circumstances of your life.
Iโve taken on some expansion over the last few months that total about $1200 a month in expenses.
This really jumped out at me. What expansion is costing you $1200/month? Is this for your eBay business? That’s a lot of money when you aren’t even making that much yet on eBay.
If you truly want to go full-time selling for yourself, two pieces of advice that helped us:
–Cut your expenses to then bone. Ryanne and I lived in a family basement for a 1.5 years while we built our eBay business. We stored everything in a bedroom. We live incredibly cheap.
–If you really do work yourself, put in 40 hour a week or more. I’ve heard stories of some folks who think the idea of working for yourself means not really working ๐ Those early days are really a grind. There’s no getting around just photographing and listing hundreds and hundreds of items as fast as you can. We just had fun scavenging and listing. It felt like an adventure.
