I wave at 80% of the people I pass on the road. In a city, people would think I was insane.
What’s nice is you are not beholden to that employer since you have a small business to fall back on. A position of power.
You’re at the point any of us have been at. You’ve done an incredible amount of work, but you’ve really just started on your business. Must push through. You’ll know when your sales are steady enough that you can take time to do other things.
We’ve never used Pirate Ship. But its just a way to pay for labels, not an actual delivery company.
When you ship international, are you just printing a USPS label through Pirate Ship?
Agreed. We like driving used cars, but they need to be reliable.
Sounds like you have a lot of good choices.
If someone is interested in our eBay story, they suddenly start thinking its easy to make money. No one can know the work it takes to “always be listing”
Yeah, drive cars till they fall apart. Not a fashion symbol for us!
Kids will be kids. I didnt really start understanding things till i was in my late 20s 🙂
Welcome! Yes, living in a small rural town can sometimes be frustrating because the people are the people. But we also find much more to love than not.
So cool that your husband found a way to farm full-time. And working remotely is really an awesome thing for you. Especially if you’re getting paid city money.
This is great perspective from both Old Dad and So Cal Joe. Land/houses is so much cheaper once you hit 100 miles from an urban area because you get outside the “commute zone”.
We also thought living in a small rural town would mean a life of depriving ourselves of culture, etc. Instead, we’ve had to learn to find culture in non-obvious places or make our own.
I was delivering some coffee last week and my car had that fresh smell all day. Maybe we should make air freshners.
That was a classic eBay interaction. A buyer wants a lot of drama. But we don’t have to give it to them. Offer a return, block, silence.
If you have a job you enjoy, where people respect you and pay you well, then keep that job! That’s a rare find. For me, it was dreading waking up and going in to work that motivated me to pursue this scavenger life.
The bonus is that you also seem to be doing really well on Etsy. What do you do with the extra money?
Yeah, that was too long a drive. It was a favor for some friends who held the event, plus a good reason for us to team build with our new partners.
That’s awesome about getting your kids selling old toys. That’s a valuable skill.
Its sad to see long time auction houses and flea markets disappear.
We always a hard NO on consignment. We arent even nice about it. No way no how!
