I know going around and scanning books to find the most profitable ones was a big thing several years ago. Is that still the way to find books? Go to book sales and scan thousands to find the 5-7% that sell?
Welcome Bob. I of course will endorse all your instincts here: there is money in the streets and you can make a lot of money if you have the right processes in place.
Do you have any issues selling books on Amazon FBA now that they charge fees for storage if books don’t sell quickly? I also wonder if its difficult competing against the giant booksellers who list books for 1-cent.

I know we can handle it without a lot of stress once we get the new routine down. The most important thing is we love this new coffee venture. Our partners, the new challenge, and the opportunity to push our little town into the future.
Im a little confused what you’re describing. I’ve seen a couple times that I’ll search for an eBay item through google and accidentally get into a Philippines view of eBay. But ifI close the tab and go to eBay.com, then i”m back to normal.
I’d try “clearing your cache” on your browser. Maybe you have some weird cookie forcing your browser to ebay.ca.
But if your listing on eBay.com then that’s where your items should be going.

Steve sent us a video of what one of these sales looks like in a different state: https://www.keloland.com/news/your-money-matters/long-lines-await-opening-of-a-crate-deal-liquidation-outlet-each-week/
Definitely not my kind of scavenging, but looks very busy for the store owners. Seems like it’d be worth going through and listing the really valuable items on eBay and selling just the lower dollar items to the public.
Good advice. I dont think we called this time, but we did call the last time when someone opened a CC dispute. Paypal said it was out of their hands. It was the decision of the credit card. A very strange catch-22 that thankfully doesnt happen often.

We’ve been through several of these big pushes where every penny went into growth. Had some sleepless nights from worry, but it was worth the effort.
Yeah! Is this where someone shows up to my house with a giant check for a million bucks?
Maybe I’m thinking of someone else, who sells in the North East. Seems to remember they would often sell 50 pieces of ephemera a day.

But I wonder if you have to be approved for some reason? I’d call eBay to ask.
You definitely bought a large collection of long tail items! Good news is there is money in old books if you take the time to research, list correctly, and have patience. Antique magazines for ambassadors to France in the 1920s is the definition of long tail! There might only be 10 people on the planet who care about those….but they might pay big money for the rarity.
We’ve dabbled in old books and done well because they are so cheap. But there are scavengers here (MyCottage) who are specialists and only sell books and ephemera. There’s also a guy (Wabash…) who was making thousands of dollars a week selling old magazines from a hoarders house.
Some of those books might even be good to sell illustrated pages from. Advertisements are big business. I hope you love old books 🙂
Where will you store all these books?
Antique Frog, do you use a specific site to find the value of rare, old books?
Without giving away too much (if it’s a secret), whats the story with this book haul? Who are you buying them from, how many books, and how much for the purchase?
I have been schooled. Who the beauty that came our of Akron.
That’s a good guess. Maybe someone here can identify the style or maker.
My guess it’s made in England. For some reason it looks European t me with the floral detail. Maybe Antique Frog will see this and comment.
