120 LPs, not 60. I knew I would be buying things to bring back, so I packed very light, gave my accompanying light-packing dad a large suitcase, and eventually traded up for an even larger suitcase in Latvia. Most of the weight coming back was the LPs, distributed between two suitcases. Just made the 23kg limit.
We were taking subway and NJTransit from JFK to NJ, so I knew that would a very tough trip; my dad is too old to carry something that heavy, even if on wheels. But inexplicably, they never sent our baggage with our plane, and the suitcases were just delivered last night at 2AM. So LPs got delivered to me 🙂My biggest idea is ink cartridges. They are a giant scam, and I’m sure you have heard that printer ink is like the most “valuable” retail good there is by weight. They use the same models over there, and you can get cartridges for as little as 10% original cost new on eBay (I know because of so many disappointing sales). My idea is contacting owners of retail stores and trying to arrange to sell to them in bulk. I’m sure there are many possibilities like this one; I just love ink cartridges because they’re so small and light; I could transport quite a lot.
Other ideas are clothing and shoes. They’re extremely into American brands down there, namely Adidas, Nike, Ralph Lauren, and I can get brand clothing in bulk for as cheaply as you can. Something like this would be more difficult to arrange because secondhand clothing isn’t as fluid of a consumer good, but I thought I could make an arrangement with a secondhand shop store or something.
07/10/2017 at 1:32 pm in reply to: Scavenger Life Episode 318: Spending Money Should Be Painful #20189Listening to the episode now. Interest peaked when I heard mention of “investment in assets” because not 30 minutes before, I had just finished Rich Dad Poor Dad. Very amused.
I wish people new to eBay would stop calling in and posing questions that they have only because they’re not familiar enough with selling. I never posted in this forum or called in until I caught up with every episode of the show. The early ones in particular go through everything that these new people call in about.
Jay and Ryanne, I wish you would skip these questions for your end-of-show segment, and instead direct these people to previous episodes or the message boards. They’re not helpful or interesting, and it’s made all the worse that the same questions get asked repeatedly.
April 23-29
Total Sales eBay $554.02
Quantity Sold 38
Avg Sale Price $14.58
Sold Items Cost $25Total Sales Craigslist $35
Quantity 1Best sale of the week was a Merkur safety razor set that I had only bought a few days prior for $40. I bought it for $5 because it came with razor blades, which I kept for myself since I would be buying them (for more than that) anyway. I had just gone through buying my own first safety razor kit a month ago, and knew how strangely expensive everything was. Sold the night I listed it – very nice to feel so quickly validated.

April 16-22
Active Listings: 1223
Items Sold: 55
Sales: $974.39
Avg Price Sold: $17.72
Sold Item Cost: $46Best Sale: Two Lid & Lash prescription medications for $100 each. I always look out for skin care and meds at thrift store – usually only priced a dollar or two because they’re not hot items amongst the boring law-abiding public.

04/17/2017 at 3:54 pm in reply to: Scavenger Life Episode 306: We Love Flea Markets and Craigslist #16716To Carole, the woman who keeps calling in about her Fedex shipping issue:
It’s strange and very unfortunate that the Fedex employee forgot to take account for your package’s size when he measured it. But you should be measuring and weighing your packages yourself, not spending time and money bringing it to Fedex and taking videos of them doing it for you. You are losing quite a lot of time and money by not doing the work at home; for one thing we get an enormous shipping discount by buying it through eBay. It doesn’t take any time at all; I would recommend listening to the early episodes of Scavenger Life (when it was still called eBay Scavengers) to learn about things like handling your own shipping and packaging.
04/03/2017 at 12:27 am in reply to: Scavenger Life Episode 304: Do a little bit today, then do a little bit tomorrow #15813Regarding the suggestion you mentioned of sending something with signature confirmation so that it’s held by the post office until the customer returns from vacation:
Please be careful. The post office will only hold mail for a week or so (3-5 days after the 3rd delivery attempt, according to their website), and will then return it if still not picked up. What you should do is adjust the handling time for that specific item before they order it. Or, maybe better yet, you can suggest that they put in a Hold Mail or Forward Mail request with the post office:
Haha thank you. I suppose the tense of the name should be updated.
This page is fantastic – thank you so much for sharing! I just joined. Because of its interactivity, and how it embeds its images, I think Facebook is going to prove a better medium for item identification than r/whatisthisthing, and I love that subreddit.
Could someone please provide a link to the mentioned Garage Sale app? Couldn’t find it when I did a Google search. I could use something to help me speed up listing. I used to sell a lot through Amazon merchant, and miss how quickly it took to list on there 🙁
I only leave odd or interesting feedback 🙂 Regular “Best buyer ever A+++” stuff is so boring – no one reads through actual feedback because of that. I used to write political messages or silly stuff like what you received. Decided it wasn’t worth alienating or upsetting buyers, so now I leave song/poetry lyrics or politically relevant biblical verses.
That’s the version I thought it was, but the cover is different. I couldn’t find mention of the cover anywhere but that blog post. Anyway, thanks for the advice everyone. I raised the price and changed the title. The dealer was very frustrating – he kept sending more offers as I tried to edit the listing. And you can’t edit when there’s an active offer.
Haha no I appreciate your help nonetheless. Always interesting to discover new types of collections like this.

You were right! I found it, and it’s a super rare movie tie-in version. No other one available online.
