my seller hub page doesn’t have a Switch back to old format link in the upper right corner. Does anyone know how else to find this link or how to switch back?

regarding WBird’s comment on measuring shoes. I don’t get this request often–maybe 4 times so far, but I did have 1 person buy the shoes after I sent measurements.
She was very chatty with long messages both before the sale and a long thank you message after receiving the shoes, but super pleasant. I picture her as an older lady who grew up during the time when people actually wrote long snail mail letters –but who knows.
Yes, I also always weigh the finished package prior to printing the eBay label.
However I often don’t weigh an item in package during listing—unless it is large or unusually shaped or a need to measure the dimensions– usually I can estimate what the weight will be in package and about 95% of the time I am correct.
But when I first was starting out, I weighed almost everything during listing and found the appropriate box/mailer and gradually developed a sense of what items weigh and what boxes/poly mailer/bubble mailer to use.
with practice and if you sell items of similar types, you likely will soon have a pretty good idea what they will weigh when packed and what package to use.
I have a Post-it note by my computer with the weights of all the box types I typically use. I have two types of small boxes that I usually use for first-class items requiring protection. Otherwise I mostly use standard USPS priority boxes.
For item types that I sell a lot of, I’ve developed a sense of roughly what they weigh and what size package they will fit in. Once I’m over 1 pound, usually the weight only matters by the pound so it is not that hard to estimate whether something will be between one and 2 pounds or between two and 3 pounds, etc. Or whether it will fit in a flat rate package.
For items I’m not sure about, I have a few commonly used box types already taped up near my listing area, that I can test fit items. I also have a scale to weigh items.
For large or unusually shaped items, I don’t do these very much and they require more time weighing and finding an appropriate box.
I use flat rate instead of calculating shipping, since eBay and PayPal charged fees on the shipping. I probably come out a little ahead on shipping charges since I usually estimate my flat rate as shipping to one of the coasts and many times it is closer. Sometimes I do estimate wrong and lose money on shipping, but other times make up for it.
I’ve been able to create drafts from existing drafts by selecting the draft that I want to use as the basis and clicking the create copy button.
I called eBay and was told that despite it saying and showing the postage to Japan, it still really was going through the GSP program. so I accepted offer, and when I click send invoice, it does say that I can’t do this because it goes through GSP program. I guess I’ll find out for sure when the buyer pays and I try to ship.
Thanks everyone.
P.S. The item was a jacket so I don’t think it was a restricted category.
Maybe the team is the Frisco Texas Rough Riders. I think they are minor-league but I admit I don’t know much about baseball. I’ve just had a hat with this team before. the logo wasn’t exactly the same but did have RR. And your location says Texas so maybe not that geographically implausible.
I usually do much better at privately listed estate sales than the ones run by professionals. In my area, the professional estate sales usually price at or above eBay sales price. But the estate sales run by the owner or their children often will have garage sale type prices on many items. They aren’t looking everything up on eBay.
Thank you all for the insights and information. I really appreciate it!
Retro — thanks for your advice. I tried this and sent a message saying i noticed the negative feedback and was sorry she wasn’t happy. And then I asked, “Was the primary reason for the negative feedback that I didn’t offer a large enough discount?”
She responded back “Probably” since she wouldn’t have spent $70 on these boots and she didn’t want to wait in line at the post office to return.
I then tried to call eBay again and once again was shot down. This rep wasn’t sympathetic at all and said this wasn’t feedback extortion.
I don’t know how other people manage to get feedback removed!
Thanks for the reply. I tried again but still couldn’t get it removed. Rep was sympathetic and agreed that buyer could tell heel-ness from the photos and that it looked like the buyer wanted a bigger refund and to keep boots but still wouldn’t remove. Just said that my reply looked professional and future buyers would see that.
