eBay removed the feedback. I did not have to ask the buyer to remove it. But the eBay chat representative said she didn’t have the ability to remove it unless I went through the Request to Remove Feedback tool and gave me a link (you can also find it if you click on Seller Help). Its description under its link is “If you feel someone has left you improper feedback, you can send us a request to have it removed. We’ll look into it and remove anything that doesn’t follow our policy.”
What I don’t know is if chatting with the eBay representative helped or not. She kind of said she agreed with me and kind of implied the feedback should be removed–but not quite so direct language. But then I was apprehensive, thinking her direction to send me to the request to Remove Feedback was just to get me off the chat but then I did it and the feedback was removed within an hour of submitting the request. Maybe it would have worked if I had gone straight to the request to remove feedback or maybe the representative helped somehow.
The Ended/Unsold link in Seller Hub is where the listings were deleted from so they were not available there which was the problem.
I had gotten distracted ending/sell similar on some listings and inadvertently deleted them from the Ended page in Seller Hub before I had sold similar so they were gone. The method listed above is the solution for how to recover these listings if you delete them from the Seller Hub Ended page. Even when they vanished from the Ended Seller Hub location (because I deleted them from here), I was able to recover them through going through the Feedback page.>items for sale>completed
This year I found some local auctions that were good sources of inventory. Because of this, I’ve also been learning about new categories, since I’ve taken chances on lots that were low risk since they cost so little and I usually see at least one thing that I know is worthwhile.
However, I’m still trying to figure out how to balance time. New categories are exciting because they are new but it takes time to look up every single item. I bought a large bag of toy figures for a few dollars for the lot but had to take the time to look up every item and most are only worth $5-$15 but they are small, non-fragile and easy to store and ship and some could be lotted up in smaller lots that could bring more like $20-$30. I’m not sure if this was worth the time spent but at least I did learn some about toy figures.
I’m also getting more exposed to collectibles/antiques that I’d never see at garage sales or thrift stores at inexpensive prices. I’m learning even more that old doesn’t mean valuable, but I have found some treasures.
I still need to learn where is the cut-off between listing everything bought in a lot vs. donating the not-worth-as-much/long tail/fragile/hard to ship items. This year, I will try to focus more time on better items and try to donate more of the other items in order to free up time.
Not inventory but found a source of free boxes–getting a new item in a small, independent store and salesperson took item out of box and was going to throw away box. But when I asked to keep box and told him I use boxes in online selling, I was offered as many boxes as I wanted and come back every week for more if I wanted.
Sold a new in box tool for ~$300 so that was exciting since it had a low purchase price. Christmas items are still selling but mostly low dollar.
thanks for the tip!
With regard to the perfume. I think this change happened a while ago in the Health and Beauty category. But I think you can switch to the Collectibles category
If they verifiably lied in the feedback or were vulgar/profane, you should be able to get eBay to remove it. Also, I’ve read elsewhere–but don’t have personal experience–that you might be able to get eBay to remove feedback if the complaint is about shipping but you shipped on time or if they discuss the details of a case they opened.
I’ve noticed that USPS has usually been really fast also. Some parcel post packages have been arriving in 3 days! Not always that fast but most packages are within a week.
I sold a vintage magnifying glass for $40. What made this my favorite sale was that the buyer sent me such a heartwarming message after receiving it. Her grandfather had one just like it and they used to look at maps together with it. It was the only thing she wanted when he passed but another family member took it. She said she cried when she received the one I sent her.
This message actually made my day.
Thank you!!!
thank you!

It didn’t ask for anything with my old address yet but since it was associated with my old address, I wasn’t sure if I needed to prove I used to live at that address. Thanks!
Thanks–I just checked an old address and have ~$90. What do you do if it is an old address in a state you don’t live in anymore? Can it still be claimed? Thanks for letting me know about this 🙂
