Doesn’t seem like its been 20 years! That’s one of my (and my family’s) favorite movies. I guess I know what we’ll be doing tonight. It’s been a while since we watched it. We even have a Jump to Conclusions mat and some TPS reports around here somewhere.
I have been selling books for a long time both online and in a store. I have stored them both ways – on bookcases/shelving units and boxes. First off, each book gets a SKU. We mark it in pencil on the top right corner. Then, it’s either shelved or boxed up. (We have limited space.) I like shelving better because 1) it’s easy to spot the book, 2) no boxes to move around to get to the right box. We number the shelves with the starting SKU. The books that are boxed, we number the box with the starting and ending SKU. Pros on using boxes 1) the books are packed horizontally so they have less stress on the hinges, 2) the books are protected from light damage, 3) less shelf wear.

We started out using Un-do, but found that rubber cement thinner was cheaper per ounce and works just as well. We refill our Un-do bottles with it. We use Doc Edington’s Rubber Cement Thinner.
I use rubber cement remover (chemically very similar to lighter fuel). It dries without damaging the paper of the cover or box. It can spread the adhesive around like Antique Frog said above. When that happens, I just keep adding the cement remover and working the adhesive off the book.
It also depends on the type of paper used on the box or book. If it is a coated paper, the adhesive will usually come off with no issues. But uncoated paper like on paper backs from the 1950’s-1970’s, the paper of the cover may come off with the sticker.
I have noticed that sometimes when I sell an item, it is not removed from my current listings. For example yesterday, two items I sold on Ebay were still showing up as for sale. I manually check my orders against my listings every day to make sure the solds are taken off my inventory. Ebay is not the only site I have noticed this at. Amazon is just as bad. I usually have one or two Amazon orders a day that are not removed from my Amazon inventory.
I also use the Brother laser printer. I switched to the 1/2 sheet labels because they were so much cheaper than the rounded labels. I hand feed them because I hate switching out the paper and resizing the feeder tray. (I use legal sized copy paper. We have pallets of it that we got for a song.) I have no problems hand feeding the partial sheets. So I am a happy 1/2 sheet label user.
Everyday I manually delete what I have sold off of Bonanza. It doesn’t take long and it saves me the aggravation of getting an order for an out of stock item.
I was happy to see that I had 4 Bonanza orders this morning! That makes 15 for the last 7 days. I hope they keep on doing what their doing.
I’ve seen an uptick in Bonanza orders this month too.
I manually adjust my Bonanza inventory when I sell items because they do not correctly sync my inventory. I got tired of having to refund orders and ask for a refund on the seller’s fees.
I would box it. Packages can get really beaten up in the postal system. One good poke/rip and there’s a hole in your packaging and the posiblity of the comforter falling out.
If you change to the professional selling account you can set up your own shipping rates. I haven’t had any issues contacting Amazon’s customer service for sellers. Here’s the number I use: 1 (888) 280-4331. If I had been in your situation, I would have shipped it priority mail instead since Amazon didn’t pay you enough to ship it Express.
