Right now I’m totally putting N/A, but my understanding is that last time they were threatening to end your GTC listings for doing so in certain categories. The Fall Update says “Listings that do not have valid product identifiers may not submit successfully.”
But I also got an email recently, saying in part “We’re writing again to inform you that some of your listings are still missing a valid product identifier. eBay now requires all new and manufacturer refurbished item listings in most categories to include a valid brand, manufacturer part number (MPN), and global trade item number (GTIN). Starting this week, you will no longer be able to relist non-Good ‘Til Cancelled items without including valid product identifiers. And, starting the week of September 18, 2017, your Good ‘Till Cancelled listings won’t automatically renew until valid product identifiers are provided….Update your listings now to avoid any interruption to selling.”
I’m not excited about their renewed threat to require the product identifier for more listings. In the past I would try to enter the upc appearing on the price tag of a new item and it would not be in the database. Apparently, upcs that are particular to retailers are not included. Also had trouble with NOS items. The only items it found was some of my kids’ dvds I was selling and legos. Also, they just use this information to show cheaper products from other sellers and also to hound me to offer free shipping and lower my price, even if the comparables they show don’t justify that. I don’t like them showing similar items because I try to bring in traffic from outside Ebay through Pinterest with what I hope are superior photos. I also try to get people to buy multiple items from my Ebay store.

Number of items listed this week: 35!I caught a welcome break from my contract work last week and listed some vintage and used piles, thus the lower average price and COGS. Hopefully today I will cross the 400 mark for the first time. I’m getting less picky about my photography and trying to gain listing speed. I still feel like I’m slowish on the spectrum. I’m a bit annoyed because I have to remove the internal custom Ebay store link insert that I’ve been using in my description because it is now outlawed like external links. Already having to clean out my listing recommendations daily.
Ah, stress. I know it all to well, but I think it also makes me a great Ebay seller. Having a let down like that is really good for you and you are free to do it after the reno is complete. You didn’t have much of a breath before this big trip and fortunate that you didn’t start the trip with the video work. I hope you are enjoying reflecting on your amazing recent accomplishments while you are vacationing. I just started a small adult singing class last week and even thought I am outgoing one on one, I have an extreme fear of public speaking and singing. I originally felt like it was time to push myself out of the comfort zone but then I was like why the *&@! am I doing this to myself??? LOL
Maybe the Equifax hack is just making me paranoid but just got like three of these in a row today. I made two of them repurchase, the third was a low priced item. The last one emailed outside of Ebay, so we’ll see if they repurchase.
In my description, I encourage buyers to use the shopping cart and visit my store. I originally thought that the link I created internally in Ebay as a custom insert is requiring the mobile friendly checker / fixer. However, now I realize that I have also inadvertently copied in links while preparing my listings using outside sources for research. They have just started flagging the latter and putting in my Hub with a request to “remove contact info”. I’m thinking I’ll probably have to run the checker on all of my listings. There’s one benefit of having a small store I suppose.

Kate I just found some hard placemats by Lynn Chase this week. I can’t believe the prices for the china but they it looks well made and beautifully designed. Will look for Juliska, thanks.
09/12/2017 at 11:12 am in reply to: What you don't want to hear at your favorite Thrift Store #22758I’m in the minority here loving Goodwill. The Indys are my favorites but our GW is the only one in town and conveniently located so they get donations from all over. It is heavily picked, they run frequent sales, and they move things to regional stores, so things really move in and out of there giving you lots of chances to catch things they missed. My favorite overlooked items are art (priced lower than Indys), kitchenware, studio art pottery no one cares about, Target stuff (for us – there is no Target here in town), large Pottery Barn frames and under bed baskets (also for us). They also open right when I’m headed to work.
I noticed one of our regular pickers got a job there. He’s no dummy. Luckily, he’s a shoes guy, not my kind of stuff. The bummer is when you get an employee pricing or picking (like this original post). Another Indy has a pricer who likes EXACTLY the same things I do. That store used to be awesome. They also started selling on Ebay for the charity. Plenty of stuff abounds though. Way too much to process actually.
Congrats Tam and good luck with the death piles! I’m still nibbling at the edges of mine but making some progress.

Number of items listed this week: 33Had some time off my contract job and finally got some listing done. I’ve added more free shipping to first class items. Though my store is small, I’ve noticed it has helped move some RA new items that have been sitting. I’ve also tried promotions but have only sold a couple of those items. It looks on my bill that Ebay is only giving a partial refund for the promotion fees. I’m not sure how they calculate the rebate. I hope to list a few of our Halloween items and my kids’ old costumes that I’m ready to part with this week. I’m annoyed with the listing improvements functionality, but not going to rant about that again. I try to clean it out every day.
As far as vacations go, we definitely have been in the cocktail poolside group though we hate to dress up (from Cali) and don’t go to very expensive restaurants. Now that the kids are older and we like more space (to keep the peace) we do AirBnB and I cook a lot of our own food. We are also wanting to show them new cities before they start applying to colleges. Enjoy your down time R & J.
09/07/2017 at 12:05 pm in reply to: What Sells On eBay: Stereos, Model cars, CPR Anytime trainer, Vintage Starburst clock, HP calculator, Winter overalls, Men's cologne #22628Paid 5.99 at Goodwill. Even after reading this https://www.dogmt.com/FAQs.html couldn’t tell if what type of print it was so I didn’t say (art amateur). Happy to get this price anyway and I think it was not a woodblock. http://www.ebay.com/itm/332165752027
Thrilled to sell this older item. I feel compelled to save these project linus quilts they make for hospital premies. I need to get over that affliction. http://www.ebay.com/itm/331870838680
Fun midcentury. Still sold even with a repair. Paid $3 each at indy thrift and the chip free one hasn’t sold. http://www.ebay.com/itm/331921826697
I should have gone all in on these at the storage clean out place. $1 each. Sold pretty quickly and some other picker had taken them all when I went in for more. http://www.ebay.com/itm/332234879051 He still has a lot of stickers and buttons from the 1980s metal era, but I have so much stuff to list.
Thanks for sharing sales Steve – that clock is so amazing and I’m still hunting for one to keep. There is not much on Youtube that I learn from and some of my old favorites have become inactive (Mad Maine, The Paper Castle, Sheldon). If anyone has other favorites for vintage sales reports, let me know in reply. Shout out to Karen Laebo – great keywords just roll over her tongue and she’s pretty active and located here in So Cal. Also like Terminal 99 and his pricing estimates and weird stuff.

Number of items listed this week: 8Slow this week and no burst of sales after the day I listed, but I’m very happy with my art sale. We are having record heat out here in So Cal. San Francisco was like 106 degrees earlier this weekend. It really zaps your energy. Not much buying either for me, either RA or thrifts. Hoping to put Ebay back on the front burner again soon. Love the pics of your new place. Travel safely.
I’ve found two Patagonia puffer jackets thrifting for myself essentially NWOT. One was one size too big, but black so I wear it anyway. It seems like our thrifts are more expensive out here in Cali for lower end items but there is a point where I think the indy thrifts are afraid to price too high. Some really quality, great condition items in the $20-30 range. However, they will go high on art – I guess they are more worried about it being secretly expensive?
I love to buy orchids and other plants at garage sales and Vietnamese glazed ceramic pots on Facebook or Craigslist. I’ve bought loads of children’s books and I’ve donated many to the school library when my kids are done with them. Not giving up on real books and I’ve sold a few complete series on Ebay lately.
Finally, my son is now a men’s large so I’m actually willing to look through the clothes and I’m building him a wardrobe. It’s really easy to find the same stuff I’d buy at Macys or a surf & skate so I can’t imagine paying full price.
08/28/2017 at 8:26 pm in reply to: Scavenger Life Episode 324: A Day In The Life Of A Scavenger VIDEO! #22301Thanks Ryanne, that’s nice of you. I watched a bunch of tv last weekend and vegged, something I never do. Flea Market Flip, Project Runway, Game of Thrones. Today I got an hour to list so yeah!

* Number of items listed this week: 0How fun to see your day in the life video. It’s like picking up the matching read along picture book to the record for the first time. You work SO hard and it will be a nice end of the year enjoying the spoils of the new rental. Everything looks super and we would totally rent it if we weren’t across the country. I recognize the Ikea duvet my daughter has and I love the art you chose, especially Steve’s amazing buffalo piece. I’ll keep an eye out for those 70s Marushka pieces – totally something I would pick up but I’m sure I’ve never seen any.
I’m hanging in with Ebay just shipping out. The kids are back in school but we are a household of sensitive people, half of us going through puberty, big schedule changes, and unfortunate pet deaths. The emotions are running high. Although I’m the adult I have to talk to myself out of feeling everything along with them. It’s an interesting but challenging heavy parenting time that has me resting instead of working Ebay in my time off. I hope to soon get handed a couple of weekdays off my contract job. Ah, to sit alone and list for a day and get some exercise. That would be amazing! Keep your fingers crossed for me trash elves. Have a great week!
Amazing find! When I’ve listed Italian Raymor I have had immediate interest, particularly from the U.K. I would price high on EBay with best offer for what that’s worth.
