Stopping by to celebrate that I just listed what I think was my last box of newbie Starbucks mugs – all Christmas. It felt really good and I listed them pretty cheap – mostly on Mercari. Unfortunately Mercari’s shipping rates are high.
Everyone in my family got sick last week. I listed 14 items.
@Sharon great job with your DPs! @VT congrats!I made one last run through the Christmas at the two larger stores and bought and listed a couple of thingshttps://www.ebay.com/itm/235873682300 https://www.ebay.com/itm/335732774287, plus this stocking holder (bought last summer). https://www.ebay.com/itm/235873710514 Notable since I sold two of these last year without the box and got my only negative feedback ever which is finally about to fall off. It’s my first time handling one of these since the buyer accused me of selling a fake as Pottery Barn. This one has no mark on bottom and a subtle made in China sticker, which I bet made her think it wasn’t PB. I feel like writing to her again but it’s probably too late for her to remove the feedback. Too bad Ebay did not stand by me.
lol yes. Early morning post.

I just found this guy who got a store review. My favorite points were Ebay gave him a general guideline of only 20-25% of listings should be over 90 days. Suggested changing keywords, checking item specifics missing and relisting 15 old ones a day. Also suggested Chat GPT for titles, which I think someone else mentioned doing here. I always use all 80 characters but they said that too. Also mentioned moving vintage out of the beginning of the title (guilty).
Also toward the end has a nice little from-a-friend lecture about overbuying and not listing enough (guilty).
Thank you @Jaepete 🙂
Ty. It’s me with no skills. Ran out of music on that post. LOL
@Amatino good for you! I’m waiting until January and plan to go through the piles once again and take lower dollar stuff to the flea market to try to get my money back. People don’t really want to pay current shipping costs on a lot of my old picks probably. I have a lot of linens and vintage fabric that I will focus on listing in the new year. May do some Facebook Marketplace. My husband wants the car back in the garage and it’s tough with all the Ebay and the live market stuff. Really really need to get the piles down.
@Ryanne I ordered some coffee again. Finally got the fillable Kerig pod.
https://www.ebay.com/itm/335702050808 Allrighty, I never want to see this item again. An unwanted Christmas present I’ve been trying to sell forever and the subject of a big Mercari scammer mess. Fed Ex finally got the item back to me and Mercari ended up refunding both of us afterward. I’m SO not tempted to sell electronics.
Also happy to be rid of this large teapot. I don’t usually pick them up, but I think it was super cheap at an estate sale. https://www.ebay.com/itm/335658553249
https://www.ebay.com/itm/335670905141 I’m doing very well with Pottery Barn stockings this year. I had about 8 or 9 and most have sold. Excited about this one because the buyer wanted to get it to Australia after adding a family member – baby I think probably.
Just 2 listings for me. Eek. I kind of fell down this week on listing – terrible timing too. I do have some ready for photos. I have no idea where last week went actually. I did a winery pop up market Saturday https://www.instagram.com/p/DDSpyHvTjk5/ and helped the kids a bit, couple of Christmas events. However, I also watched Dexter – on Season 4 and it’s really getting good. Shame!
Yes I love Tuition Ain’t Cheap. She has a couple of research videos – one for Ralph Lauren bedding, which I do well with. Thanks for the other suggestions. I also could use someone yelling at me to list / cut back on sourcing. This summer was a set back for me but I’ve cut back a lot on sourcing lately. Listing more.
@Craig good for you. I have not stopped scavenging but I’m getting pretty picky. There is so much here. I also will be needing to limit my trips while I try to clear some piles. I do enjoy the flea market and many times do not pick up too much there.
On the Virtual Antique Marketplace (District.net) I bought one of the cooler items I’ve found https://district.net/product/mid-century-flame-red-ceramic-as-e13 I did pay up for this a bit from an online buddy so I need to list it, preferably with a hanger if I can find one. They usually go for $140-150
Congrats @Julie. I hope you are well and getting a lot done! BTW I know you listen to podcasts so lmk who you like. Thanks!
https://www.ebay.com/itm/235843981322 Lots of bread and butter going on these days but this was a little surprise on the value. It’s a Russian painted egg. Mine has no stand and a chip of paint flaked off, or it would go for $40-50. Paid $3 for this life size one. The larger ones can go for much more.
100% right. My daughter (now 18) was helping w photos a couple of summers ago. It was nice while it lasted but she has not wanted to do it again. She helped me set up my business Instagram account. So much of teen’s life now is social and the internet. I think possibly later she will come back around to it.
I don’t know how you are able to get so much done with all that is on your plate, but hats off to you. I definitely share the passion for this but have too much in piles and really need to get back to righting that. Our fixed expenses, cost of living, and taxes are very high and it’s time to move more inventory. I love it but I’ve been treating it as kind of a hobby still and not a business. Though I don’t need it to do my taxes I’m considering getting flipwise in January to analyze returns and keep me more honest.
Reselling is so good for me – gets me out of the house, moving, meeting people at markets, makes me productive. It’s great that it’s flexible but I need to get on a better schedule.
Fun note, I tagged EBay on my most recent soles Insta post and they replied! https://www.instagram.com/reel/DDKpTNWSMxI/?igsh=NTc4MTIwNjQ2YQ==
If anyone’s on Instagram I’d love a follow and some likes and comments. It seems like I lost some momentum on my break from live pop up markets. Ty!
