I miss the days on ebay way back then, when sellers could leave negs on buyers! Good times! The wild Wild West that was!😂
lucky sparrow! Thank you so much for sharing! I tried the beef and cabbage stir fry and it will stay in my “go to” Keto recipes! I thought and I think I saw a short cut for this recipe … to use the bagged coleslaw to get the red and green cabbage – but I think those bags have carrots (not Keto) in them too.
I just started the Keto about 3 weeks ago – loving it! Hard to lose weight when you spend so much time on the computer everyday listing on Ebay! And not moving around! 😂We are in “Friendly” Manitoba as our license plates say! We tried motorcycle stuff – unless they are real old, they don’t sell too good. Just this weekend I was taking some newer Harley stuff out of our store, because they sat there for 3 years. How about yourself where are you? We could be neighbours!

It takes some people years to finish a project – so they come back over and over again as their project progresses. Our bread and butter parts are Ford Model t’s – we bought up many of these cars of the years (not buying anymore – prices got too high and we don’t need anymore!) Many restorers want original parts not aftermarket. And with the new “Rat Rod” phase or rod builders, we have acquired a new following & customers. My husband parts out every nut and bolt, we sell anything we could ship using the post office. The frame and large body parts are taken to the scrap dealer – where we also make money. Years ago I had a guy from France that was buying all of our Model t nuts and bolts! He was a purest! I would have never guessed 15 years ago that I would know the complete Ford part numbering system! I get a lot of looks at auction sales when I tell the guys what year and model the parts for sale are fram!

02/03/2019 at 2:18 pm in reply to: Coupon Code for discount on ebay for buyers – made by seller #56319Thanks for the links Jay. But after checking out other forums, it seems like ebay doesn’t want anything to do with this. I bet, because they would be losing money on fees. Just my guess. Lots of sellers are wanting this. They are making “go arounds” to achieve this, but they sound so messy to me. I don’t want to correspond with my buyers anymore than I have to. Sounds very antisocial – but I’m not, if I wanted to talk to buyers I would sell at flea markets! I guess the promotional code box at check out is just for ebay’s generated codes. I’ll keep trying to find a smooth seamless way – maybe it doesn’t exist. I think I will try to call ebay this week. Thanks for all your help – stay warm! -22 F today in my part of Canada!🇨🇦

My Husband and I are doing this full time (well, as much time as we really want). We are both in our late 50’s with small pensions from our jobs, but retired early after crunching our numbers and said to ourselves we could do this! We couldn’t have retired early without having a side hustle for sure. My husband retired first and I was still working full-time and listing and taking pictures etc. After I realized that we were making more on ebay than my pay check ( Postmaster for Canada Post) I took an early retirement – this reduced my Post Office pension – but we didn’t care.
I found for ourselves we have to have a bit of a loose routine for the business. Our day goes something like this.
Wake up when we are done sleeping.(Whenever)
After our coffee etc, we go to our shop/office and wrap the previous days sales.
Make shipping labels, we take photos, I do about 10 listings a day, my husband get the items ready for the next day’s listings and on and on we go.
We are to the point that we put in approx 3-5 hours 6 days a week.
The ebay business can go on autopilot for awhile without us, but we can’t let it go too long without our input. We have to continually list etc.
It’s a very powerful feeling when you own your own time and are confidant enough to not be scared. Good luck to you guys!Such good advice! Thanks! I will learn from my mistakes! ✌️👍
Bad News for me – this was what I found in the Community help at Auctiva…
“Hi Community,
If you were to close your Auctiva account while you have active listings running, your active listings would remain on eBay but any Auctiva hosted images in those listings would be deleted from our system 14 days later and would then no longer show up. The Auctiva templates on your active listings would remain intact for the duration of the listings but would have the potential to be removed if you were to relist them after they end.”
So, my listings would remain on ebay, but the photos will be deleted after 14 days.
I sent a “help” form, but they claim certain browsers the forms don’t work. I can’t phone anyone because I don’t have the package that allows phone or live chat! I will see how my form summits – I’ll keep trying.
Searched the site – no where to be able to download all my photos. Checked out the community at ebay, same horror stories on trying to cancel and get photos, it can be done but by one at a time.
I’ll keep trying to get my photos and keep trying to contact them. But looking at it in a positive note… I am revising each of my items, retaking pics and redoing the listings. Updating all of my old ones. I think I am going to have to just keep plugging away and redoing my listings. I have about 2500 listings total, I believe I have about 1000 to get off of Auctiva.
So beware! Of third party listers! Not that easy to get out of.
You may be right! I can’t see them holding my photos hostage for my subscription. Will call in the morning. Will post with an update. Thanks!
Well, will be interesting when Ebay brings in the “new” payment service. I heard so far that it will be cheaper for sellers. I guess we will hear more about it in the upcoming months. I’m all for it, because when I online shop I like to have payment options. I think it will be good for ebay sellers. But I know change could be hard for some.
WOW! Thanks for directing me to that page – such interesting info! I will be exploring that “performance” section – when my time permits!
I agree there isn’t a better platform than ebay for us – just because in what we sell (vintage car parts) it is the “go to” place for our customers.
Seeing your numbers – I’m feeling in a “normal” range now. I know everyone has to pay – like you always say – “you have to know your numbers!” and be honest with that. I guess I just got “shocked” looking at all the invoices and totals at once.
Good exercise for 2019… Break down your numbers – get a reality check every week or month – don’t wait until the end of the year!
Thanks Jay! -
