Hey Guys / Gals! When we sell something we always put a business card in the parcel. Presently our cards have a calendar printed on the back. Soon to run out of cards. Just wondering does anyone know if a seller could develop a discount code that you could enter in that box at checkout. I would like to put something on the back of our cards like “20% off your next purchase when you use this code” Is this even possible? I see that “box” when I check out when making purchases on ebay. Thanks!

Not sure if eBay allows you to create a coupon code, but I found this:
Question: How does one create a promo code for their ebay store?
by inFlippingWe tried something similar when we started selling on eBay. We printed a flyer with our store name, a thank you, and prompted people to buy again for a 10% discount. All they had to do was message us and we’d discount. .
After sending out thousands of these flyers, we had one single buyer take us up on the offer. We stopped with the flyers.
I’ll be interested to hear your results.

Thanks for the links Jay. But after checking out other forums, it seems like ebay doesn’t want anything to do with this. I bet, because they would be losing money on fees. Just my guess. Lots of sellers are wanting this. They are making “go arounds” to achieve this, but they sound so messy to me. I don’t want to correspond with my buyers anymore than I have to. Sounds very antisocial – but I’m not, if I wanted to talk to buyers I would sell at flea markets! I guess the promotional code box at check out is just for ebay’s generated codes. I’ll keep trying to find a smooth seamless way – maybe it doesn’t exist. I think I will try to call ebay this week. Thanks for all your help – stay warm! -22 F today in my part of Canada!🇨🇦

Last year at ebay Open I was told by an eBay person that they were working on coded coupons to replace the codeless coupons they have now. I pestered ebay for months after that, asking just when we were going to get the coded coupons. They eventually shut me up by basically saying not gonna be 2018. Now, here’s the thing….something like that MIGHT be coming this year. I’m hoping to see it in the next Seller Update (if not before).
In the meantime, you can create a codeless coupon, but that’s not really what you are looking for.

Thanks MyCottage, I guess I will wait. We have lots of repeat customers, I guess I will have to give them a break some other way!

Oh yes! We specialize in 1920’s 1930’s & 40’s parts. It takes some people years to finish a project – so they come back over and over again as their project progresses. Our bread and butter parts are Ford Model t’s – we bought up many of these cars of the years (not buying anymore – prices got too high and we don’t need anymore!) Many restorers want original parts not aftermarket. And with the new “Rat Rod” phase or rod builders, we have acquired a new following & customers. My husband parts out every nut and bolt, we sell anything we could ship using the post office. The frame and large body parts are taken to the scrap dealer – where we also make money. Years ago I had a guy from France that was buying all of our Model t nuts and bolts! He was a purest! I would have never guessed 15 years ago that I would know the complete Ford part numbering system! I get a lot of looks at auction sales when I tell the guys what year and model the parts for sale are fram!

There’s a Model A club in our town. There’s rumor that a local guy has a locked up, abandoned building with supposedly old Model A and Model T cars hidden away inside. The stories people tell each other about the quality of the cars. (I’ve seen inside. The cars are in bad shape 🙂

I sell multi quan of a cult favorite beauty product with repeat buyers. The only thing I think of is telling the buyer to message you for a XYZ discount the next time the reorder. Then you can either 1. refund in PayPal, 2. Send an Offer at discount. eBay isnt organized enough to execute a zillion various coupon codes, I doubt they ever do it.
