Jaepete! I have the same problem! I’ve even converted my husband who was originally horrified that I wanted to pick through curb stuff. He used to sit in the car and pretend not to know me. UNTIL…. he watched me pick out vintage tools and carhartt clothing…. I kept holding stuff up asking “do you want this”… curiosity finally got him out of the car and he is now converted.
Now he is always asking me “do you want to stop?” lol

Anyway, BOLO for art supplies. I know it has been mentioned before but in case anyone new doesn’t know. Sold these for less than they are worth but only pennies in…

My hoarder neighbor is moving and putting all kinds of junk on the curb. Sold some stuff this week from his garbage. He has 3 buildings to clear out, his basement and garage! Unfortunately, nothing was climate controlled or protected from moisture.

11/16/2020 at 11:55 pm in reply to: Anyone on Long Island (suffolk County) that would like these plates? #83497Too bad Amatino! They are pretty neat and worth about $150-$200. Was hoping someone here on the forum might be local and interested.
Thank you for the responses! Antique Frog… I took a closer look after your post and it looks like it IS two pieces joined. also, it is 3 7/8″ wide. It is pretty heavy at 4.6 oz. so it wouldn’t be comfortable to wear. I got it from an artist’s estate in a house filled with interesting art pieces. Probably just a piece handcrafted by an obscure artisan. Most likely no value but pretty fun. – Liz
There may be but it is scratched.
Thank you for all of the responses! Always easy to second guess when you lose a sale or two but that is how it goes! have a wonderful day everyone! Liz

So…. went to the local jewelry store that buys and sells… Great news! Ring is REAL. DIAMONDS ARE REAL.
Bad news… they offered me $75…. then upped it to $100 when I asked “is that the best you can do?” Told me $75 for the gold and $25, yes, $25 for the diamonds because “they have TONS of diamonds and don’t need them.”
Seriously? Talk about a scammy industry… ring would easily cost over 2k if you were purchasing. Going to try a couple more places. Liz
Just listened to the podcast. Great as always! Here are photos of the ring in question. Marked 14k.
Thanks for the information. Liz
Thanks Mike! I will take the ring to a local jeweler when I get a chance and let everyone know if it is real or not. Thanks! Liz
Thanks Jay! An option I hadn’t considered. I need to find out a little more about the total karat weight of the diamonds, etc. I’ve heard horror stories about selling jewelry online. But will look into it some more. Thanks again! Liz
Jay, Good point. I misspoke. I don’t really think it is worse either. It has just become socially acceptable. I see this as a failure of our education system and the decades long transfer of wealth to just the few at the top. Truly amazing how they have gotten the masses to blame people “under” them for their hardships and not the corporations/wealthy that are systematically bleeding America dry.
