Sharyn,
Without your regular contributions to the “what sold” section of this forum it would never have occurred to me to try to sell those lace curtains… so thanks! I also learned from this forum that Cottagecore is a “thing.” So these are chic now??? Anyway, the bike REALLY is cool! We like to travel with our bikes (during normal non-covid times) and have discovered rail trails and paved path riding. Vintage mountain bikes can be retro-fitted with wide tires that can travel on the road and gravel/dirt paths pretty easily.I always enjoy the background info that people give when they show their “what solds.” Hopefully more people will post!

02/26/2021 at 7:06 am in reply to: Coffee pots and Parts, Wendy Melvoin guitar pick, Tension pole lamp #86240Steven. My hoarder neighbor who is moving collected stereo equipment. So much of which has ended up on the curb. Really overwhelming how much stuff. You would clean up from his rubbish! I just don’t have the knowledge of what is good and what isn’t but pickers have been going through it and taking stuff.
Some things I sold this week….
The real estate bubble is going full throttle in my area many older houses are getting sold and flipped. Entire contents of older homes seem to be dumped on the curb. I pick up so much stuff and donate most of it but this one house had these really nice vintage Cottagecore lace curtains. Sharyn, I thought of you and how you are always selling linens so i washed them and listed. Sold 2 sets this week. $28/set

These Pokemon cards are regular sellers. Picked up about 50 packs a couple years ago. You all helped me tweak the wording on my listing (thanks) after a buyer used negative feedback extortion for a refund due to condition… I used to sell these for $35 but recently raised the price to $50 and they are still selling strong.

Mentioned a couple of weeks ago that I picked up an old Specialized Stumpjumper on the curb. My husband fixed it up for me to ride. This week we sold all of the parts off of frame. $130

02/18/2021 at 10:50 am in reply to: Matchbook covers, Casio keyboard, Freemason wallet, Berkshire Hathaway hat #86013Steven great sales. Thanks for sharing! Also love the animal portions of your videos. Glad you were able to take the dogs for a hike. Off from work today due to a snow storm so figured I would post some of my sales.
My husband is going through his collection of vintage bike parts that he doesn’t want so i’ve been listing them. Since COVID there has been an increase in demand for bicycles and parts but supply is limited. Great time to be selling bike stuff!
I picked up an eighties Specialized Stumpjumper in pristine condition put to the curb recently. My husband stripped the bike of all parts and rebuilt it for me as a gravel touring bike. We sold the handlebars $30 going to Hawaii … https://www.ebay.com/itm/284186005473
Sold a set of vintage Ritchey mtn bike tires for $125. Going to California. https://www.ebay.com/itm/284186038275
Nitto Bullmoose handlebars $75 going to California. https://www.ebay.com/itm/284186025427
Nothing else too exciting. Stay warm everyone! Liz
Thank you jaepete! I listed a few pieces on Ebay since I posted about this. Glad to report that I received some offers…. but dismayed at how low they have been! I have been keeping a lookout for gallery calls for entries for Political Art. Haven’t seen anything yet. But my audience is out there… just gotta find the right venue. Ebay isn’t it. thanks Liz
Great suggestions Sonia! Thank you! Liz
Most of my recent work is very political so not something for your rentals! You would piss off half of your guests. I can paint pretty bowls of fruit and other more pleasant subjects but right now i am focussing on the current state of things in this country.
Forgive me if you’ve covered this in another post but have you and Ryanne considered using your coffee shop to showcase local artists and their work? Could be a nice collaborative. Liz
Hey Jay, thanks for the response. I tried once before selling something I made and it was def. disappointing. I don’t have a ready market but a lot of my art is very unique and I think is fairly sellable. I have a degree in design from FIT and a BFA and worked as a graphic designer in for 20 years before becoming a librarian. I have a pretty decent eye and a marketing flair. I guess i just need to put the effort into creating the right outlet for my work.
Was thinking about an ebay art store because the set up is already there and easy! thanks liz
01/29/2021 at 5:42 pm in reply to: TV stand, Video processor, Starburst clocks, Speaker stands, Placemat, Toy truck #85500Thank you Steven, Sharyn and Temudgin for posting your solds. I look forward to this EVERY week. I usually don’t post much of what i’ve sold… usually not very interesting but here are some of my sales from the past week…
This past summer I went to an estate sale on my lunch break and saw that there was a whole barn full to the brim with old metal items… wood boxes full of hardware, casters etc. I realized after I left that I wanted some of the old wooden boxes to make some art with. I went back and left a note in the mailbox asking if i could come back and buy some of these. Months later I got a text. They had just come across my note and invited me to the house and let me fill my car with all sorts of stuff… free… i pulled these vintage picture hangers from a box… sold for $59 to UK buyer.

Last year I posted about having difficulty with a buyer of one of my vtg sealed Pokemon decks. You all gave me great advice and I changed my listing to vintage used, not new. Haven’t had an issue since! I picked up about 40 decks and have been continuously selling them. I sold 2 packs this past week. I raised my price from $40 to $50. I have 21 packs left!

My husband LOVES to spend money on high-end bicycle gear. We have over 25 custom bikes. Anyway, he recently took my old Fat Chance Monster Fat single speed apart (I don’t ride it) and we listed the rare Paul crankset. Sold within hours for $250. Went to Anchorage!

Thank you for all of the responses. I ended up shipping the item for free and am using this as a learning experience! Slow down and pay more attention! With all the crazy things going on these days this annoyance isn’t even a blip on the radar! Have a wonderful day everyone! Liz (catmom)
Great advise (as always!) thank you Jay
Received my order yesterday! Absolutely delicious. Thank you!
Too bad you aren’t by me. I have a friend who is developing a historic property here on Long Island to include a coffee/snack shop sharing the space with his retail bicycle shop. He wants to rent the second floor of the building to a local maker/artist/gallery.
Have you considered featuring local artist’s work on the walls of Broad Porch? That would be a wonderful collaborative. You may already be doing this, not sure.
I also like the idea of prepackaged sandwiches. Chili dogs are great, but some people may prefer more traditional fare. Thanks and happy new year! Liz (Catmom)
Thank you Sharyn! You have helped me so many times! Really appreciate it. Will contact the buyer. Happy New Year! Liz
Thank you Jay!
LOL tiki! Great idea! I ended up just messaging the person back and told them they are welcome to grab my shots from online.
That is what I thought Jay! Thanks for your input! Liz
