I was in Ft Collins (home of University of Northern Colorado) a few weeks back for a Decemberists concert and the only UNC hats I saw in the crowd were vintage/yellowing/destroyed hats likely from the 1980s. It was a bit of hipster crowd, but still, no one really wearing anything from the last decade. I am not touching any team stuff that does not look old and funky anymore.
W38 – congratulations! It sounds like you have been working very hard to be in a position to make the move (1800+ items working PT – call me very impressed). I hope you will post regular updates on your progress. I am curious about how you will move your store and I love stories of people that have gained independence from working 40 hr job. Best wishes with your home sale and next moves. -Daniel.
Jay, I want to thank you again. I find it embarrassing the number of times I have posed a question that you have been able to answer with a few key words in an eBay search. I do search eBay before I pose my questions, but somehow do not hit on the right search. I really appreciate the clarity you can bring to my conundrums.
I agree WW2 and gay culture (and especially gay WW2 culture) are likely to be big sellers, now that I see that there are buyers for negatives on eBay. Thanks again, Daniel.
Hey Ryanne (and Judy), thanks for the kind words. I will shoot photos of my set up later and try to satisfy your request with words just now.
I have a roll of white paper hanging and spilling over a table to make borderless white background. My object goes in the middle of the paper. I have three lights – two on either side pointing forward and one above. I shoot in between the two lights that are pointing at the object. I use one of two lenses on my Canon 6D: a 24 – 105mm or 100 mm macro. I think the horse was shot with both lenses, but may have only been shot with the 100 mm macro. (It is almost always best to shoot people and things with a 70 to 100 mm or equivalent. This range does not compress the foreground nor spread out the edges like a telephoto or a wide angle lens will do.) I do a slight amount of post processing in light room – just straighten things out and adjust light levels and then export to eBay.
It sounds complicated but I typically will shoot about 150 photos (12 to 15 objects) and then process in an hour to 90 minutes. The biggest time suck is the listing and post listing organizing to assure I can find it all. I will follow up with more details.
Thanks for your input Jay. I love taking a deep dive into a piece like this (as long as I can also crank out a few 10s of other listings as well). Best wishes to you and Ryanne on your varied projects today. -Daniel
Here is my listing: https://www.ebay.com/itm/192682826874
Here is a recently sold example with the more typical color scheme from early 20th century: https://www.ebay.com/itm/Fine-Pair-of-Italian-Zaccagnini-Art-Pottery-Horse-Statues-Chinese-Tang-Style-/382569365442?hash=item5912e93fc2%3Ag%3A7EsAAOSwvu1bo9Mp&nma=true&si=Kbu4RtqrZqnLVhjRisjFz0lzdaM%253D&orig_cvip=true&nordt=true&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2557

While I am certain that the attribution to Zaccagnini is correct, I am not sure the tie in to Bitossi is factual. The glaze matches the Rimini Blue of Bitossi, but Aldo Londi was a generation later than Zaccagnini and had very different ambitions. Zaccagnini appears to have been adhering to the idea of recreating renaissance ceramics while Londi was a modernist making works that adhered to contemporary design.Interesting links on the way:

To be clear, these were nudists magazines ostensibly designed to support the alternate lifestyle community of naturists/nudists. They were published in the mid 1960s and (I hope innocently) included images of families that included children. The world of the mid-1960s is not the world of today. I was not in conflict over whether or not to burn them, but over my own impulse to destroy these when in a previous instance I felt comfortable advising a seller to go ahead and sell a vintage “Anarchist Cookbook”.
Thanks, Daniel.
Hi Thagortmort, I think you will need to you upload an image to Imgur then copy the link into your post. Thanks, Daniel.
Yep – all burnt.
I know nothing of these dolls and am grateful for your question to have the opportunity to learn. I searched on worthpoint and the dolls that sell in the $200 range seemed to have very detailed (meticulous) paint and carving. These do not have detailed carving and the paint is casual and impressionistic. This seems like the sort of paint that is applied when an item is manufactured for a mass market. On the other hand, I saw none that look like this, so I am at a loss to suggest a pricing scheme. Best wishes, Daniel
The book may appeal to people that might want to know how to do some pretty terrible things with the information inside. But that same information is available online, including scanned copies of the book:

10/03/2018 at 9:09 am in reply to: What Sells On eBay: Boots, Record Player, KC Chiefs hat, Pyrex, Canoe Paddle, Turntable #49515Just got back online after I took a huge plunge down the rabbit hole of 1940s and 1950s physique photographs (big find). totommyto, you have given me exactly enough info to be dangerous and I REALLY appreciate it. I really need to get listing my bread and butter stuff before diving further into any additional rabbit holes (like for me, Barbie). I am so pleased that there are lucrative new fields of research and growth for my near future. I love this scavenger life world that has constant opportunities to learn and develop. Best wishes, Daniel.
