antarestar, I found the same thing! Now I just strip the bed and lay the curtain out on it (on a white sheet.) Gives the buyer a look at the whole length of curtain, but without the hassle of me having to remove my existing curtains, hang the one I’m selling, and then reverse action. I’m tending to move away from excessively sized sales items, though. The hassle of photographing them just isn’t worth the income, IMHO.
… buyers who honestly believe that a $5 offer on a $50 item is acceptable, and that by going up $1.50 for consecutive bids will make you suddenly decide you are quite happy to take it!
Great article here. If you still have their email addresses, this might solve your problem.
Posts like these make selling online worth all the hassle! Thanks for the chuckle.. and it isn’t even Friday! 😀
Oooh… I like the last one! That’s a great idea! May I add that to my list too?
Good luck on going full time.

I don’t know if it’s publicly available or you are supposed to be a member, so I’m not going to share it in case I do wrong, but you can join their FB group for access.
12/05/2018 at 11:10 am in reply to: Trash Elf Twins Challenge 2018 Thread #3 From Week 31 August #52713LOL. I like the way you asked. Can’t wait to tell her she’s an “is”… but I guess I set myself up for that one!
For privacy, I don’t name any of my family online. My husband is Himself. My daughter is The Bratness. My grandson is Squiggles (or Squiggs, for short.) So, for example, a blog post about a family outing would say “Himself announced we’re all going to Six Flags for the day on the weekend. As I suffer badly from motion sickness and Squiggs is too short for most of the rides, Himself and The Bratness spent the day developing shades of green and scream, while Squiggs and I did the kiddie rides and waaaay too much cotton candy!”
12/04/2018 at 12:49 pm in reply to: Trash Elf Twins Challenge 2018 Thread #3 From Week 31 August #52654Wow, what a week! Molly made 500 listings – CONGRATULATIONS! It’s a heady feeling, isn’t it?
And Sharyn hit 1,000 here in the challenge! HUGE CONGRATULATIONS! What an achievement! You’ve rocked the challenge this year!
Only 4 weeks to go.
Vintage Lacy, I’m going to Reading, Berkshire for 17 days to visit the kids. The Bratness has been threatening to drag me all over to view all the gorgeousness of this more than 1,000 year old town! We’re also planning a day trip to Oxford just to explore. I really wanted to add in a trip to Ireland or Scotland (which is MY favorite place! *wink*) but I don’t think we’ll have the time or budget. Sales have been lower than anticipated, so I don’t have the $1,000 spending cash I was hoping to have. Still, it will be beyond marvelous to visit the kids. I booked an extra luggage piece so that I could go over there loaded – I’ve sewn the quilts (mentioned earlier) and have a bunch of other goodies that I’m going to haul across the pond. I’m allowed my 2 checked luggage, plus two cabin baggage, so I’m going to look like I absconded with Santa’s sleigh. Perhaps I should put one of the luggage items into a sack, paint the other to look like a sleigh, and add reindeer horns to the cabin baggage?
12/03/2018 at 12:34 pm in reply to: Trash Elf Twins Challenge 2018 Thread #3 From Week 31 August #52587I twinned Sharyn this week and also listed 8. I decided that a minimum of 2 per business day is my goal for the foreseeable future and hit my target. If you tell me I’m 2 short *wink* I’ll tell you I only had 4 business days last week. I’ve started a new series of treatment on my knee and Fridays are now ‘weekend’ as I’m either in doctor’s offices or laid up after unpleasant treatments. I’m supposed to stay entirely off the leg for Friday and Saturday, and Sunday I’m on crutches, so I have a 4-day work week for the next 3 weeks. Worst time of year for this, but as the aim is to be pain free for the next 6 months, I’ll take it!
Molly – I always catch folks up if they post missed numbers. Nobody gets left behind in the Twins! 😉
While I’m away, I’m going to put the store on extended handling time. J&R have had multiple discussions on the perks of doing it that way rather than vackay mode, so I’m going with Community Wisdom.
Do it twice a day for 7 years? 😀
You guys are the BEST! Thank you.
I didn’t know anything about Nightmare Before Christmas, I thought it was a horror movie! 😀 Somebody told me this mug was Beetlejuice, so I went with that. Now I know what I have and got some great advice.
I love this Forum!
I’m thrilled you guys are posting with your photography woes. I get so discouraged with folks like T-Satt who can photo an item in 2-3 minutes and those who seem to do a gajillion photos a day with no problems. It’s good to know I’m not alone!
😀 😀 😀 😀 antarestar – you have hit the nail on the head! THIS! Definitely!
I tried installing one of those time-out apps that kicks you out after so many minutes… but it counted eBay as internet… as well as Worthpoint and any other research sites. It was a brief, frustrating trial.
Photography is my biggest time suck. I spend AGES on editing to get the photos looking good. I know… OCD and perfectionist and all that, but my insides wince every time I look at one of my photos that is not done well. If I could cut my photography time in half, I’d probably triple my output! It’s reached a point where I don’t want to list bc I don’t want to have to take the photos. Very discouraging.
My storage system is simple and fast and so easy I can ask a neighbor to get something for me if I have to. When I list, I pack the item ready for boxing, so my weights and measurements are already correct in the listing. Doesn’t take as long to do as you’d think and I’ve not lost any money on shipping since I started doing it. I have a packing station, with all my packing needs together. I have a tape roll that I use for packing boxes, the tape dispenser mentioned ^ above that I use for small pieces of tape such as securing bubble wrap or something, and all my stuff in one place. My packing is really fast and efficient now (spellcheck saved me from spelling efficient incorrectly – this thread must be jinxed! LOL)
So, for me, I think my scavenging and cleaning is one area where I could probably go faster, and photography is my personal nemesis. With solutions in those two areas, I’d be unstoppable.
Re the tape dispenser, I bought this one from Amazon back in 2016. It is one of the best purchases and I would put it on the Must Have list! In fact, strongly considering buying a second one for my listing area. I paid $13 back in 2016.
I see they have this one now for only $20 but I don’t know if it matches the quality of the first.
