Sorry to disappoint, but it’s actually called sparkle mesh. No fancy names. 😀
Here’s a link to a gold stud mesh that’s similar to your big roll and here’s one with the cup sparklies similar to your lower picture.
This stuff is readily available at JoAnn’s, Hobby Lobby, and other similar stores, if you want to browse those for ideas too.
@Sharyn You never know. You might find a pile of stuff you’ve forgotten about. Or decide to list some of your Christmas decorations you don’t want any more. 😉 This year so far you have had listing weeks that logged one 50, one 51, one 52, and one 60. So this week’s blockbuster of 52 is your 2nd. Good for you!
@ChristineR Feels good to clear space, doesn’t it? Glad you get a peaceful November. May you have lots listed so that you have a prosperous December!@VT November Challenge. Come onnnnnnnn… one last push and I’ll let you take December off, I promise. 😀
@VL ROFL Shoulda known you’d lead the charge! Good for you. Just so you know, I’m determined I’m going to give you some competition on this Challenge. TBH, I’m not sure how much stuff I have that qualifies, but I did find some winter stuff in my Big Purge last month, so I’ll be on the board at least.
For me, ladies, it was a zero for this round again. I’m sad to advise that my beloved Gran passed away last week, just shy of her 100th birthday. She was an amazing woman and I think that I truly believed her indestructible. It was both heartbreaking that I couldn’t say goodbye, but better for her that she’s gone, because she had dementia and wouldn’t have known who I was to say goodbye anyway. It’s been a rough week and I think I’ve spent most of it in denial. I kinda just kept going as normal, but I know that there’s a huge piece of me that stuck its head in the sand. I’ll come up eventually, spitting sand and looking for a toothpick.
Anyway, spreadsheet updated, and Sharyn is rewarded with the win this week. Go you!
A friend of mine made* $8,000 a month selling stuffed cats made with burlap and rusted wire. I totally believe that you CAN make money making your own stuff, if you produce stuff for a market that exists.
*She quit when her husband got deathly ill. She couldn’t care for him and produce the cats at the same time. Dunno if she’ll go back to it now he’s passed on.
Congratulations on the new Mini-Human! Wish you many years of happiness with him. Hope you find someone local.
NOVEMBER CHALLENGE!
What, you thought you were free and clear? Mais no, my sweet, deluded Elflings. Next month is your well-earned-rest. THIS month, you are being CHALLENGED!
For the next 30 days, list anything that falls into the following categories:
Fall; Winter; Thanksgiving; Christmas. Now, things that would make a gift don’t count if it’s a statue of a woman in a pretzel, for example. When you look at it, the first thing you think is Fall (pumpkins, leaves, gourds, turkeys) or Winter (ice, snow, snowflakes) or Thanksgiving (all of Fall plus pilgrims) or Christmas (Santa, reindeer, gifts, etc.) Scarves, gloves, jackets, snow boots totally count. Pretty chiffon blouse that would “make a great Christmas gift” doesn’t. Geddit?
Challenge rules:
1. It must be LISTED by November 30, not in Drafts.
2. Cross posting doesn’t count. E.g. post the same item in eBay and Etsy, it’s one item.
3. However, listing on ANY platform counts. Whether it’s listed on eBay or Poshmark, you count it.
3. LISTINGS count, not number of items listed. So 5 Christmas ornaments in 5 listings = 5, but one listing with 5 variations = 1.Challenge guidelines:
List 30 items – Challenge minimum. Good for you.
List 31 – 60 items – Challenge Accepted! Your promotion from Trash Elf to Christmas Elf is in review.
List 61 – 90 items – Instant Trash Elf to Christmas Elf promotion!
List 90+ items – You have OCD – Obsessive Christmas Disorder. 😀Go! Just list, dammit!
Congratulations, everyone, on getting through The Big Purge. I hope you all feel very accomplished and happy to have made a dent in your Death Piles, and feel more encouraged to list what you have left. Listing creates a dent, as well as purging! *wink*
Head on over to the Listing Challenge now. I have a special November Challenge for you there!
67 this week, so my final tally is… scrolls up to check last week…443 … making it 510!
Wow! I honestly figured I’d go over the 100 mark, but I never considered I might cross 500. Mind. Blown!
Lesson learned: sort stuff that is donated BEFORE putting it into storage! Actually, the other lesson learned is “don’t take clothes!” One tote was packed with men’s shirts that I actually sourced, rather than were donated to me. The entire tote was emptied and checked and only 4 t-shirts went into the donate pile. Gave ma a boost to know my picking’s on point, even if my sorting sucks!
Well done to everyone who worked through this Challenge, even if you only made the minimum. You made a dent in your Death Pile, and that’s what it’s all about!
Contact them directly, tell them you have recently got this tie and would like to know the history behind it. Dominic Pangborn designs all the ties himself and he also does custom ties and theme ties to support charities and stuff. They’re awesome ties!
JoAnn and Jeanette are partners (and sisters) and can probably tell you the background.
joann@pangborndesign.com
jeanette@pangborndesign.comLast day of the Challenge folks! Get it gone and post your final tally here tonight or tomorrow.
VT, could well be. I’ve received offers every day this week, most of them only a few bucks off, and that line didn’t appear. It popped up today, so it could just be that today was the day the rollout came to my pixel of the interwebz. Will monitor future offers and see if it shows up again and revert.
VT, this made me laugh and think of you! Here you go!
Friday Funnies on a Wednesday because I’ve had a really rough week and it’s raining in Texas.
10/29/2019 at 12:53 pm in reply to: ONE pane of glass broke – expensive shipping – what do I do? Please help! #69735That’s true, Retro, but I have Best Offer on most of my listings, especially the high dollar items. I refuse to add free shipping to a Best Offer listing (or Best Offer to a free shipping listing?) so it’s not really an option for me.
Besides, of all the expensive stuff I’ve shipped, this is my first breakage. I’ve shipped over 100Lbs in a ginormous box (went FedEx) and regularly ship in a 24″ cube. I have HEAVY warning labels, because I use them so often. I paid attention to J&R’s packing videos and info and pack with a lot of padding and floating and stuff, and I always take photos as I pack.
For items such as cell phones and similar, I actually video my packing including turning it on to prove it works, then turning it off and showing the IMEI and serial numbers, then packing it, so that I have proof that the item I sold is the item I packed. Then, if I have a claim, I can report it as fraud/theft to the Post Office and Police as well. Notifying buyers that you have done this, along with the tracking number, along the lines of “in case it gets stolen en route” seems to be a pretty good deterrent to getting a brick or a rag back.
Is it just me? I get tons of offers! All the time! A huge portion of my sales go to Best Offer buyers. I should actually do a check to see the exact percentage, but I’d say at least half of my stuff goes out on offers. Sometimes the offers just totally baffle me, like $10 on a $12 item (??) but the person making the offer feels like they got a deal, and 2 bucks off doesn’t bother me, so yay!
I used to get really peeved about the $5 offers on a $50 item, but I stopped that by putting in an auto-decline for the higher dollar items when I know I’d be hissy about a low offer. Some items, though, as Jay mentioned, are just thumb-suck prices because I have no idea what they’re worth. I’ll leave those open and give all offers some consideration.
But yeah, I get lots of offers, every week, and almost daily.
Well done, VT, you won this week. Only 5 points behind VL and still 9 weeks to go. Sharyn, you’ve got 6 points to catch up. Come on you two, give VL a little competition! LOL
VL, my little chicken, so sorry you’re feeling fowl. Sending healing thoughts your way with lots of well wishes and happy energy. Hope you get to breath and sleep a bit. Hug! Looking forward to hearing all about the show when you’re back on your feet.
Spreadsheet updated. VT takes the win!
