03/04/2021 at 4:16 pm in reply to: UPDATE to Seller Update: eBay Now Waiving Early Termination Fees for US Stores #86442
I love the date this new termination policy starts. Anyone else get the joke? ๐
I like that you now get a timeline of when updates go live.
1. New category changes. eBay will automatically move your items to new categories which could result in a change in fees. I’m not sure how you’re going to track it.
2. New items specifics are being added in the following categories: Clothing, shoes & accessories; Collectibles; Media; Musical Instruments; Parts & Accessories; and Sporting Goods. For those of you who have been working on updating your Item Specifics, gird your loins. Round #18533544 about to start! ๐ They are offering a bunch of resources to help, though, including free use of Optiseller.
3. Variation details are changing for those who create listings with multiple variations.
4. A new unified listing tool will become mandatory in a few months. It’s available as a Try It Now on the listing page. They recommend you start sooner rather than later so that you can get used to it. Interesting additions here includes background removal on desktop as well as mobile.
5. New coded coupons tool allows you to offer coupons to customers. You can now send buyers codes to encourage repeat buyers
6. The Promoted Listings credit will be going away, so now you have to Pay to Play.
7. New store options are going to be added.
Sharyn, you had me snorting tea all over my monitor. Do you know how much work it takes to clean up??? What an incredible haul. I love it!
Welcome back, JR. Hope your life evens up so that you can list more.
Congratulations on the new job, Utahbill. I may have a camera app recommendation for everyone later this month that might help you list more.
Spreadsheet updated. Julie B wins this week, bringing her tie for points, yet again, with VL. This is SUCH fun! Loving it!
On to our February Paper Challenge!
VT, you have been dethroned as the Queen of Paper! VL clocked in with an astonishing 129 items! VT, as the First Princess, came in with 53, and JB and I tied for 3rd with 32. Congratulations all! Points on the board.
I have to admit I’m a teeny bit stumped for the March challenge. I don’t know much about MCM, so I guess I’m going to be learning something new this month! Anyone want to post tips about what would count as MCM?
Spreadsheet updated. You will see a new column at the far right. This is the difference between your stated goal for the year and your actual Year to Date numbers. If you are negative, you have listed more than your goal for the year. If you are positive, you have a little catching up to do. If you want me to change your goal, let me know.
MARCH CHALLENGE!
Haha! You thought I forgot! Neither rain, nor snow, nor sleet, nor lack of water will stop me from laying the next challenge upon you. (Power outage might, for lack of internet, but I gots me some power!) ๐
Our own VL brought this one upon you folks. You also voted it up, so now you gotta bring it!
MCM challengeโmid century modern challenge. List anything from the 40s, 50s, 60s and 70s. You could also get creative and list items that are vintage inspired from that era. As long as you can justify it!
Challenge ends on Wednesday March 31st.
Latest update: all listings should be restored within 42 hours. If yours are not, please contact eBay CS for them to fix your account.
Thought you would enjoy this picture of what happened when I went to class (the foster dog is the brown one)
Kicking off the week’s numbers as it’s ffff—-how late? on a Sunday night and I’m exhausted. I’ve got a ton of stuff to get through tomorrow so figured, as I’ve just finished my last listing for tonight, I’d get this done early.
As of this morning, I had listed one item. Closing off tonight, I’m up to 18 of which 13 are paper.
It has been one heck of a week and I’m done in. Our well is toast, so we’re “on the list” for a brand new system. Tomorrow I have to beg the specialist to squeeze us in for an estimate because the insurance closes the claim after 10 days of inactivity, but the chances are fairly high we will not have it done until the end of March. If then. Of all the conveniences of modern life, I miss indoor plumbing the most! I’ve spent a lot of time this week hunting for somebody to fix the well, hunting for plumbing supplies (sold out all over the State, we’re getting stuff shipped to us from Michigan!), and trying to find workarounds to handle the myriad issues caused by not having running water. As well as the normal fun and games here on the ranch!
Our dog passed away suddenly at the beginning of the year and we’re fostering a fearful cutie. As I’m listed as a “don’t do puppies” she was sent to us as a middle-aged girl who sleeps a lot. In the shelter, maybe. Here, she’s a teenage tearaway who chews everything and has more energy than a Duracell battery. She has annihilated the hubs new slippers (he wore them once), a cushion, her own dog bed, the corner of the cat condo, my sneakers, one of my rubber mud boots, a baseball, another pair of the hubs slippers (old pair) – pretty much anything that isn’t nailed down. We’ve installed a baby gate at the entrance to the hall so that she can no longer steal clothes out of the laundry hamper, pillows off beds, or shoes out of the closet. She has eaten eggs out of the nesting boxes and killed one of the chickens. (We suspect the chicken was in the nesting box, pecked at her, and she snapped at it in fright.) It’s like having a toddler in the house. When it goes quiet, you know she’s up to no good! On the plus side, I’m really effective at Imminent Death discipline, so she generally only makes a mistake once. Unfortunately, chewing everything in sight, including my fingers, does not constitute a mistake. My old dog is thrilled. He’s never received so many chew bones in one day before!
Follow up information received:
eBay apologizes for any inconvenience. They say it will not happen next year as they’re correcting the error in the program, but to please be patient. As they’re processing three days’ worth of listings, (everything that would have ended on a 29, 30, or 31 is messed up) it’s not going to be sorted out in a day.
Also, for those who have month end payments go through, the payments may be delayed or go through on a different date. They say they will sort it out.
Hey guys, info from my other eBay group:
eBay missing listings? Here’s the deal, you might notice that your active listing count in your seller hub is lower than it should be and you have no idea which listings are missing or where they went. Here’s the info I have from eBay Concierge so until we hear otherwise, we’ll assume this is the issue. All listings are Good Til Canceled which means every 31 days they end and then automatically relist. For some reason this year because February is a shorter month, it has somehow affected how this is happening. The eBay guy I talked to basically it’s like they’re cramming 2-3 days worth of relisting into one day, they’re working on it and it SHOULD all resolve in the next 24 hours.
So bottom line, don’t panic, don’t try to figure it out or find a way to fix it. Just keep on keepin’ on and let the IT team do what they need to do. Take note of what your listing number should be and how many you’re short and if doesn’t resolve in the next day, we’ll take it from there. Thanks!!Don’t quit, CC. Every successful business has its good and bad. The best quote I’ve ever heard is this one:
There is no absolute boundary between winning and losing. As long as you keep moving forward, a low point can turn into a high point. Our world is never a straight path. There are ups and downs, wins and losses, and no end.
Some days I just want to quit, but every day that I keep moving forward is a good day, and I usually don’t regret staying the course.

AF, you’re so funny! Stroopwaffels! Haven’t had one of those in ages! With ice cream! Yum!
@sonia It appears there’s a window to do this, after which, you no longer have that option.
I got a dispute yesterday on a pair of jeans. They were only shipped YESTERDAY! And yesterday the buyer put in a claim for item not received. eBay put my funds on hold. I emailed the buyer who said they’d canceled the dispute, but eBay still has me on hold, so I’m not sure if I’m being scammed.
Follow up on this one: I noticed that one of the outstanding questions dates back to December 2018. TWENTY EIGHTEEN! So I ended all the listings that had these annoying questions, and did Sell Similar to relist them. All outstanding questions gone. Yay!
