- Oh, Daisy, that’s rough! The good news is, yes, most of the ties should survive. You can buy a Dry Cleaning Kit for about $12 at Walmart. You use it in your washing machine and just throw all the ties in there, along with any clothes that were listed dry clean only. Follow the instructions on the box and you’re golden. If you’re not sure about the dryer, dry then with no heat, or hang dry, or dry flat. Cotton and other natural fibers can just go through a normal wash. Synthetic fibers generally wash on cold. Once everything has been washed and dried, inspect to see if they look the same as the photos and repack. If there are some that have a difference to the photos, can you snap a couple of quick photos and replace the old ones? Don’t forget to update the condition!
The good news is, while it’s a daunting task, it will go faster than you think, and you’re getting an inventory check while you’re at it. Plus, all those updates will give your listings a boost, so eBay will reward you for working in your business!
LOL. So did I! I was trying to figure out what they would inventory? Flat rate packaging? Lost parcels from the December rush? I thought it was funny enough to share!
Julie B, I’m so sorry for your loss. That hurts real bad!
VL, Congratulations! Looking forward to some photos!
Spreadsheet updated. VL wins this week.
Retro, do you not find the “glare” on the vinyl a problem? For very reflective pieces, I find it problematic. I even had a buyer write to me about the “crack” on a mug, which was actually just reflection of a light source.
You listed 120 in AN HOUR? Is that listing from scratch, or do you mean crossposting? I’m obviously misunderstanding, because my brain just exploded from that number.
Kicking off the week’s numbers with my first zero for the year. Sigh…
We’re still without water and trying to resolve our problems as well as a neighbor’s. However, I’m back at work this week, so I’m going to make a push to list a lot and catch up some of my numbers. Y’all keep your fingers crossed for me: No more calamities this year, I got them all out the way in the first seven weeks!
You’re welcome. Email me on snratoni@yahoo.com if you need help with others. It takes me just a minute, so I don’t mind giving you a hand sometimes.
P.P.S You may want to include shipping information. If they’re dropping close to a grand, they want to know that you’re going to treat this item with the respect it deserves.
E.g. The sculpture will be carefully packed and double boxed for safe shipping. We will use (insert shipping – recommend a courier, not USPS) and will require a signature for receipt.
Title: remove the slashes, they’re discordant. I would rearrange the wording a little to say Blown Glass Art Sculpture Large Footed Bowl 21″ x 8″ Handmade
Condition: agree with Steven S. Don’t call it a scrape, call it a blemish. It’s glass, folks don’t want to think of their glass having a scrape. 😉
Description: I LOVE the video, it’s beautiful and gives a wonderful view of the piece in its “natural habitat.” When you write a description for an expensive piece, you need to paint a picture of what the buyer is looking for. Describe the item, suggest places where it could be used, discuss provenance, and finally, discuss condition. I’ve written up a sample suggestion for you, please feel free to use, amend, or discard as you choose. No offense will be taken.
This magnificent hand blown glass art sculpture, with its long, swooping lines and elegant curves, will grace any room. Place it pride of place on a table, or a display shelf. Delicately colored, it will suit most classic, traditional, or even modern decor schemes. It can be useful, holding trinkets or fruit in its shallow bowl, or merely decorative. The piece is from the estate of a dedicated glassware collector who had a keen eye for lovely treasures. As pictures are worth 1,000 words, please view this delightful sculpture in this short video (link)
Being handmade, there are air bubbles and other minor imperfections in the glass. These are naturally occuring and should not be considered defects. There is a small blemish on the underside of the bowl which is less than 1/4 of an inch and very hard to see.
P.S. You have a couple grammar mistakes in the last line where you tell folks to view the video on a PC

She’s ba-a-a-ack! WHAT a week! No power, no water, no work. Although.. that could be a small semantic issue. We worked HARD! Running around a ranch sorting out the necessities in record cold is quite a lot of work, it turns out! We’re lucky that we have a wood stove and wood, and two trips out to the wood splitter ensured that we could burn all through the power outages, but our outdoor critters needed food, water that didn’t freeze, and warmth, and that was a major undertaking each day. However, we were able to make do with our rainwater tank and our wood stove. I feel bad for the city folks who were without water, heat, or power. That must have been brutal!
VL and JB made me laugh this week with their personal Battle for Supremacy! VL got a convincing win, so now they tie for points. It’s going to be a grand year, I can’t wait to see how this plays out. *fetches popcorn and gets cosy* LOL Spreadsheet updated.
On to our Pop Up challenge.
Tie for first place were Made in the USA and Needs Work, with 14% of the votes. Second place went to Metal, taking 10% of the votes. If you looked at the spreadsheet, you may have noticed that I had already populated the months with the Challenges. I’ve added Made in the USA to the July spot, and Needs work has gone to the August place. I’ve changed the Gold Challenge, to Gold, Silver and Other Metals in April.
The spot for third went to no less than 6 different options, each scoring 7%. One of them was “another country, excluding China” but I’ve made an executive decision to not use it, as we already have Made in USA. One was Specific Holiday, another One of the Seasons, so I’ve changed the May Challenge from “Halloween” to “Specific Holiday/Season” and you can insert whichever holiday or season you like. This also wipes out the Christmas in July category, as you can use Christmas in the Holiday challenge.
Personal Items got into the June slot, the MCM Challenge bumped out the repeat Textiles in March (because Textiles in September makes more sense, as so many folks are going back to school. They need curtains, bedding, etc.) And Travel went into December. This was the only way I could fit in all the categories.
Everything else was voted at 3% or less, so they didn’t make it into the running.
Glad to be back. Hope everyone else had a good week and see you all Monday!
LOL, thanks Sharyn. And yes, I did have a business as a freelance writer for a while.
I understand that all you Northerners are used to this weather. In Texas, however, the only reasons we have ice and salt is to mix with our Tequila.
You know how there are a gazillion drivers on the road, but no matter how nice you are, there’s always one cranky old basket who makes life miserable? Yeah, it’s the same with buyers. Don’t take it personally.
eBay now has an option that allows you to reply to all feedback directly from the feedback page. I suggest you reply “Jeans were in great condition when sent. We accept all returns. Buyer did not contact us.”
Then let it go and move on.
