Thanks Mike. Wow, that’s a lot of items and I haven’t a clue what could be used as alternatives!
Thanks for putting those up.

No, I didn’t want a VERO list. As mentioned, I was trying to create a keywords list, so don’t use this-use that kind of thing.
I got dinged yesterday for ziplock. I didn’t use a brand name, just had the word ziplock in the title and received a Cease and Desist. I had no idea that anyone had a copyright on ziplock, for goodness’ sake! So I thought I’d help other SLers with keywords for future reference.
That’s all this is. Keyword – alternates.
Thanks MyCottage. Dunno, I was doing all my research between 2AM and 4AM this morning (couldn’t sleep), I may have gotten the percentage wrong.
Any answer to question one?
The dreaded email arrived in my inbox too, so I spent several hours this morning researching MP and I have a couple questions.
1. This was posted by another member here on the forum, but not answered. Does eBay deduct the fees for each transaction FOR each transaction, or do they get added up and charged monthly, as is the case under the current system?
2. This was posted in an article discussing MP and there is no mention of it anywhere else. The author stated that eBay’s charges are PER ITEM and not per transaction. This is not a problem where you sell one-of commodities, but when you have multiples, it can get sticky. For example, yesterday I sold two curtains. I have a listing for one curtain (new) with multiples available, so you choose the quantity you want to buy. If MPs works on the transaction, I would pay 2.79% + $0.30 for the sale. If it works per item, I would pay 2/79% + $0.60 (two items.) Has anyone noticed this?
Jay, this article is the reference for (2.)
SOLD FOR $14.99
SOLD DATE May 28, 2007I’m a huge scavenger of packing supplies and almost every box that comes INTO the house, goes out as a shipping box. I cut them open, remove labels, turn them inside out and tape up again. Yes, it’s a bit of a pain in the whatsit, but it’s been a bout 3 years since I actually paid for boxes, excluding my shipping supplies coupon, which I haven’t used in about three quarters.
If you let family and friends know you’re on the hunt for supplies too, you’ll end up with more than you need. I get donations of bubble wrap, polystyrene boards, air cushions.. more than I can handle. I never say no, I just recycle what gets too much and keep the good stuff. Turning them away shuts off the flow. Let it keep on truckin’!

I’ve got a 16×8 foot shed packed with my DPs, and that AFTER the Purge of November 2019, so I’m just shopping in my own personal thrift store. No change for me!
I’ve watched it on YouTube, but I had to go through the website.
@GroovyGrasshopper Try going from the website to YouTube, then add to watch later, and see if you can pull it up at work
Thanks, Sharyn. Loving it in here!
Okay, everyone, ten items for the month, but more is an option.
Listed my ten, so I’m in for the May Challenge.
Little Blue House, so sorry to hear you’re having such a rough time. At least you got a bunch of sales to make up for it! Sending healing thoughts for your back.
Sharyn, changed your goal to 10 per week.
Libby, sorry, but according to the rules, you don’t get a win if you post late. It would have been a tie anyway. Amazing how many ties we’ve had this year!
Which means that the winner this week is VT! Go you! Now, don’t let it derail you like it did last time! LOL.
Spreadsheet updated.
Don’t forget the May Challenge. Select 10 items from your store that you want to get rid of. Put them on auction at half price (or whatever seems reasonable.) Log your number of sales at the end of the month. Sharyn – is it ten per week or ten for the month?
Seeing as I made such a hash of the numbers last month, I’m giving you back the responsibility of logging your own numbers. Give me a total on May 31st.
Hey, who has the June challenge?
SOLD FOR $382.00
SOLD DATE Jun 09, 2014If you have more than 12 hours left on your auction, I’d cancel and relist as a Fixed Price with best offer
SOLD FOR $1,499.00
SOLD DATE May 06, 2017Dang, Sharyn, I just did that last month! LOL. However, I’m clearing inventory, this is right up my alley!
This week I have been SO productive! I’m loving my new cabin and working in there makes me happy. It’s also perfectly configured for my business, so I’ve been listing up a storm. 25 new items! With only 77 items listed YTD at the end of last week, this week I managed to list almost a third of my entire YTD number! I’m so impressed with me! Excuse my horn-blowing, but I’m just so happy!
I’ve also started working through my inventory, one drawer at a time, checking prices and shipping and item specifics and photographs. I’ve done several tweaks and already sold two! I also found an item that I swear I listed, but I can’t find it at all! I’m going to have to do a long-winded search by SKU to see if it’s somehow listed under something really obscure, but it certainly seems to have disappeared from my account. With Sharyn’s new challenge, I’ll have another avenue to follow.
Just a note for photography dummies like me, I know you’re out there! I ran an experiment to see what setting gave me the best return for photos. I took a mini white board, wrote the settings I was using on it, and then took a photo. Erased the white board, changed my settings, wrote the new settings, took a photo. So “Auto setting, auto iso, exp 0” and “Auto setting, auto iso, exp +1” and “Scene Sunny, auto iso, exp +1” etc. It’s a loooong process, there are so many configurations. But it helped to find the best setting and, as you can see, helped me list faster.
And then I bought a new camera. SMH! 😀
After running that experiment, I realised that my camera really is part of the problem. I upgraded to a Sony DSC-HX400V, which is a 2014 bridge model. I had the great-great-(many greats) grandaddy of this model, the DSC-H1. No, that’s not a typo. It was the very first in the series. I loved it! I had my fingers crossed that this camera would live up to Grandad’s legacy. So far, I think it may surpass it. I think it’s more intelligent than me! Listings this week might not be faster as I learn how to use it, but with just playing around with it, I am even more excited than I was about my listing numbers! HA! Snoopy happy dance!
April Challenge Winners:
First place, scoring 3 points: Vintage Lacy! *trumpets*
Second place, scoring 2 points: Sharyn! *flutes*
Third place, scoring 1 point: Libby! *pennywhistle*
Well done, folks, good play. I think everyone had fun with this. And as we all know, if you have enough gold, anyone can be Mr. T!
