I second pythonesk, anything from Monty Python and definitely Fawlty Towers! Also Curb Your Enthusiasm and Schitt’s Creek as mentioned by others above. My current favorite is Prime Time Glick which was on Comedy Central from 2001 to 2003. It stars Martin Short as talk show host Jiminy Glick, hilarious! Also Up In Smoke – the Cheech & Chong movie from 1978. These are not at all politically correct – but very funny if you can forget political correctness while watching them.
Okay I love those relaxed rules! I am going to count the gold fabric with red and green dots that I just listed this morning. Thanks Amatino!
A Mr. T Challenge, I love it! He really did wear all that gold jewelry, even to his attorney’s offices where I got to meet him back in the day. But I can’t think of a single gold thing that I have to sell. Not even in my vast fabrics hoard. And I only wear silver so I don’t even have any jewelry of my own to list in order to get on the board. This one’s gonna be a hard one for me! Good job Amatino!
My total for Halloween items listed in March is 9. Looking forward to the April challenge!

Posting now so I don’t forget, all the days run into each other and I’m not sure I’ll realize it’s Monday tomorrow! 39 new listings for me. I was hoping to start listing extra to make up for the weeks I didn’t meet my quota but sewing face masks ate up my time.
Also, in case I forget to post my Halloween items listed for the March challenge: I’m at 9 Halloween items as of today.

ChristineR: I’m working on counting sewing pattern pieces on the cut patterns I’ve neglected to list due to the time involved in making sure they’re complete. I’m also ironing my vintage sheet sets and lots of fabric remnants prior to photographing and listing those.
I’ve been worried about running out of stuff to list for the 2020 challenge now that I can’t shop, but every time I go down to my basement I wonder why I’m worrying. I have a lot of sewing patterns, craft kits and fabric still waiting to be listed. I don’t think my “shelter in place” piles are going to let me down any time soon.
Amatino, we’re on the same page! I made the middle and bottom versions of those face masks over the weekend. Although they don’t take long to make it cut into my eBay listing time.
I made one for me and one for a doctor friend who’s retired from his practice and is now seeing patients via telemedicine. He and I are the only people I know who think we might need the masks at some point.
I read that if you put a filtrite filter (cut from a furnace filter) inside the masks they are pretty darn effective against corona virus. So now I’m going to work on a mask with a filter pocket.
39 new listings for me. I’m posting now because I know I’m done for the night, whew! I feel good about making my goal # of listings this week.
I didn’t realize how dependent I’d become on constantly sourcing easy to list, fresh inventory in order to meet my weekly listing goals. Now that I’m down to my old unlisted inventory it’s taking more time and effort to make my 39 listings a week. That old stuff all went in the “shelter at home” pile after I sourced it for a reason – it takes more time and effort to list.
So far for me eBay is still ticking along. Not sure what the future will bring for my eBay business but it’s great to at least get my old piles of stuff listed! If not for self isolation I would be at business as usual – out sourcing more stuff without listing what I already have. So that’s my 2 cents worth of silver lining.

Sales have been okay for me so far. My $ amount this week is an average week for me. But I noticed that until today, my daily sales figures had declined 10% each day. Sunday $100, Monday $90, etc.
I sell lower $ items and a lot of craft items, which I anticipated might be more popular now that so many people are home with free time on their hands and not much to do.
I think just like the virus, sales on eBay will get worse before they get better. People have less discretionary income now and will probably start to curb their spending, but when things stabilize I think sales on eBay will rebound. When people start spending $ again but have less $ to play with than they did before the economic downturn they will look for good deals on eBay.
OMG Amatino, I’m green with envy! Your set up is incredible, every single thing has been thought out and set up. You are going to fly through listing, and every other process involved with selling on eBay. Kudos to you and your hubs – your eBay cabin looks divine!
I totally want to see the rest of the set up for sewing, etc when you get it done. I’m looking for even more ideas to steal – LOL!
At eBay Open in Vegas 2 years ago I was told that if I listed something vintage as new (even if it was still sealed in the original packaging and never opened) and there was a dispute with a buyer I would lose the case because the item was most likely previously owned – just because it was vintage.
The rep I was assigned to for my consult was not very knowledgeable (in my opinion) but her job at eBay included making dispute decisions. Her take was if the item was not purchased by me from a retail (non thrift) store, but was purchased at a thrift store, it meant that someone else before me had owned it and then donated it and so it did not qualify to be listed as new. In other words if someone else ever owned the item it is then considered a used item by eBay.
I sometimes follow that advice, but more often I don’t. To me if a sewing pattern or craft kit is listed as used I assume that means the pattern has been cut or the craft kit has been started already and I just move on to the ones listed as new. I do put my caveats in the listing description, but the eBay rep said that would not cover me if there was ever a dispute.
Thanks ChristineR for the reminder about GW online. I haven’t been to any thrift stores in weeks (we’re self-isolating here) and I won’t be thrift shopping in the near future; I’m not even sure if any thrift stores are still open here. With the knowledge that this virus may lull but will likely return 3-4 times I guess it’s possible that I’ll run out of death pile items in my basement before it’s all said and done. GW online will come in handy if that happens.
Sharyn: If you were saying CO for Colorado, we are in the same boat as you are. Colorado has the same restrictions as NJ. Not as bad as San Francisco (yet), we haven’t been ordered to “shelter in place” but everything that closed in NJ is closed here too, as of yesterday.
I would want a photo of the damage before I would give any amount of refund to the buyer.
That being said I had a buyer (years ago, before there were free returns for any reason) who claimed the item I sold her arrived damaged and then said her computer was down so she couldn’t send a photo of the damage.
After a lot of back and forth I sent her a return label at which point I was sure it was a scam – how could she print out the return label if her computer was down? Yup, you guessed it, the item was damaged in exactly the way she described when I got it back. So that means I paid for return shipping and got back an unsellable item. It would have been a lot cheaper for me to just refund her without paying for return shipping on the item.
It could be that your decision to partially refund is the best solution. Just a side note: I was told by an eBay customer rep recently that if you have free returns, negative feedback will ALWAYS be removed. And I don’t have an anchor store so it wasn’t some special dispensation for bigger sellers.
Sharyn, we are right there with you. Schools, gyms, etc are all closed here as of tomorrow. My sister in San Francisco has been ordered to “shelter in place”. While I hope it doesn’t come to that here, we are pretty much already doing that. I had a feeling when I went to the gym today that it might be the last time for awhile.
I still can’t find any chicken or toilet paper at the grocery store, but I’ve adapted to no library by purchasing a kindle and to no gym by ordering weights and bands.
On a more positive note: I feel better about having a death pile now 🙂
