Jay,
That was fun. Bonus Wednesday material!
Pete was down here in Naples, FL vacationing a couple of years ago. I wish I had connected, even to just say a quick hello. CLH is the only other ‘reseller’ I will watch, and another guy who is here in Fl, yet the Fl guy only on occasion.
I enjoy the audio aspect of your material, sometimes I don’t watch
Pete because I’m too busy, and you have to WATCH Pete.
You guys look Great! And lets face it, you were both professional models at one time!
So, perhaps a short video added to the mix now and then, a helper could film it…just saying!Nice tip!
Heading over to Craigslist Hunter to check it out!He was and still is a Business man. There is a ton of $ to be made when you are the top rung, even worth the class action law suites which may come. All that is figured into the equation at creation I suppose. No surprise, no excuse.
Well said
I bit in the mid 1990’s with a Long Distance Company called LCI. The dream was residual income and the guise was “helping people”. Although there were some positive aspects to the experience, bottom line is I lost $, lost time, and strained relationships, even with my Grandmother. Yes, even grandma is a target to not just purchase the service (or product), but to be a rep! And my grandma was a classic GRANDMA!
So, I smartened up and quit, and took out a $15 newspaper ad for a business called ‘No Shortcuts’. I would show up at your house with a case of bounty paper towels, Windex, a ladder, and some serious entrepreneurial elbow grease. I did windows. And I made cash money fast! After skipping a ladder two times and swallowing most of my heart, I smartened up again. And here I am…
My opinion on MLM. Say, “I’M NOT INTERESTED”, and run. Say to your best friend, your mother, your lover, your dog.Glad to do my part when one of us is taking fire. Lousy to hear, and so hopeful with all that’s good coming.

1970’s Kodac pic of a pretty young lady on the beach in a funky hat in front of a super rad VW beetle. I rummaged around in an old 50’s Snap-on rusted out toolbox full of what you would normally find. And there she was! Not what you normally find! A little dust off and on to eBay. I packed her bullet proof when shipping. (I also purchased the Tool box later on!)

I posted this on the Podcast Forum already, worth a re post, a great $5 to $250 sale. Packing was a bit challenging, not too bad, you know how that goes. A very, very gracious email came in from the buyer to really close this deal off as one of my favorites.

I paid $60, a bit more than I would normally pay for a big and bulky, yet I don’t haggle much with this shop! It did fetch a healthy $200 best offer, and another $50 handling charge for my time packing.

The sea grass basket craft has always intrigued my wife and I. I picked it up for a buck, realized it was a first print, and sold it for $37.50. This was a nice price for an obscure b&w SC I would have not looked twice at if not for my time living in the low country.

Fun to sell, (even though breakable dishware), cool sale
Crazy awesome sale and profit on those brass table legs, added to my head space, thanks!
Sharyn,
All so interesting, my apologies for pounding you with questions yet another time on the forums! I had a similar thing happen to me cleaning out a house for a neighbor on Craig’s List, led to another clean out, and I put my foot down and said no when the third one came up! I’d rather be listing, well, unless I was full time and then… However, the cash money was nice. I appreciate the view into this sort of thing. Very healthy profit, a stack of cash you could really do something with! Congrats on the great success and on your terms!Sharyn,
What if an opportunity like this comes along again, all things about the same, will you do it? Do you think you might actually look for an auction gig like this in the future? Multiple income stream on occassion?Better for the buyer by $1 than if I simply counter offered figuring in the ‘free’ shipping, if you follow. I may have explained that poorly…
Antarestar,
Here is an offer/counter offer scenario for me that occurs more than a few times.
Buyer makes offer, I counter offer, buyer counter offers asking for free shipping, I counter offer in a way that works out better for the buyer by about $1 and I state, “I do not free ship”.
only one time this did not produce a sale. I sell one offs, vintage, and weird old stuff mostly. One of the great Podcasts, thank you again!
Shipping more annoying than usual! A much better week compared to last. On eBay, a decent amount of bread & butter old toys sales, along with some longer listed more expensive things selling. On Esty, more pipeline type things selling along with newer and older listed.10/28 – 11/03/18

Sell through rate for the week: 1.8Below is the highest and most interesting sale. A certain Flea Vendor has become a fixture at the market I frequent. He is one of those older fellows with a rent ‘arrangement’, kind of spread all over an aisle, plays vinyl, jokes with buyers, a real character, that sort of thing. I poke through a mostly forgotten back shelving area now and then. I saw this lamp in there and it did not fit in, kind of off my radar, like it is either not good, or too good so too much. This vendor is hard to figure on pricing sometimes. One day, after seeing it multiple times, I actually dusted the thing off, found the glass top, and realized, this really is something. I asked for a price after buying some bulk novelties, he said $5, and sold!
Sharyn,
thank you for the time digging that up! I’ve run across these or something like them a couple of times at least, now they are on my radar!
I spent $60 on a big old milk can that sold for $200 plus $50 extra for the pain of packing. I don’t normally put out that much either, but when you know something is going to make you money, hard to resist!
Nice sales on these, and thank you for sharing the knowledge. -
